I and my wife went to the Panera Bread restaurant located at 5091 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32503, on November 24, 2025 for lunch. This was our first time eating there. We placed our order and then sat down. We ordered a bowl of Creamy Tomato Soup. I ordered a whole Toasted Italian. My wife ordered a whole Grilled Chicken & Avocado BLT. The cashier told us that we get two French Baguette with our orders. I got a Coke and my wife ordered a Crème Brûlée Latte. First problem, I needed to use their restroom, but the stupid door was locked, which requires a 4-digit security code to unlock the door. So, I got back into line behind a couple who were placing their order. I waited and waited patiently for about 3 minutes as they were placing their order, until finally I apologized for interrupting them but kindly said: "Ma'am, is there a security code for the restroom door?" She told me the code, and I kindly added with frustration in my tone: "The restroom doors shouldn't be locked!" This is really bad to lock the restrooms for customers. I shouldn't have had to get back in line, then interrupted a couple and cashier just to use the bathroom. This particular location in Pensacola is a nice neighborhood, so I don't see why they lock the doors. It is ridiculous! I suggest that if they insist on locking their restroom doors that they tell each customer at the time of placing their order what the bathroom code is. I didn't like this at all, having to ask to use the bathroom. It's rude to the customers! Second problem, when they called our name after 10 minutes, we retrieved our order and sat down at a booth. But then realized that they forgot to give my wife the Crème Brûlée Latte that she ordered. So, I walked back up to the kitchen window to ask for the drink, which they had to make. I waited about 6 minutes. Third problem, I sat back down, but then we realized that they'd also forgotten to give us the second French Baguette that was supposed to come with our order. So, I had to get up again from the booth, walk over to their kitchen window, interrupting our meal, and stand in line for another 2 minutes for a French Baguette. This is so bad for a business that does this every darn day! They need better management! Fourth, I didn't appreciate the cold attitude of the manager in the kitchen who was visibly getting frustrated with me for having to come back twice, because they screwed up our order. If anything, as a customer I have a right to get upset with him, but I didn't. Fifth, when placed our order, we asked to see the portion size difference between a cup versus a bowl of soup. The cashier lifted up two dishes, one was a very large bowl and the other a small cup. We opted for the very large bowl. But when they gave us our order, the large soup bowl wasn't even half full, which offended us. The woman who showed us the very large bowl should have been honest to tell us that they don't even fill it half way. The top of the bowl tapers outward considerably, giving the visual impression (and they must know this) that you are receiving a BIG AMOUNT, but in reality if you were to pour the actual soup content into a smaller bowl, you are not getting much soup for the high price they charge. It is very misleading to show a customer a very large bowl, and then not even fill it halfway with soup. Overall the food was great, the atmosphere was fair, but our experience wasn't as pleasant, having to interrupt our meal to go ask for the security code for the bathroom, and then twice for them to correct our order, which all toll wasted about 11 minutes of our meal time. At one point in my meal, I looked over toward the counter and the same cashier gave me a dirty look. Was that necessary? This is no way to run a business! We had an excuse, since it was our first time eating there; but they have no excuse, since this is all they do. The old adage is true: First impressions are lasting impressions. read more

Popped in for a bagel and coffee. I also ordered their four cheese soufflé, which is definitely not a soufflé by French standards, but I knew what to expect. We ordered at the cashier counter, received our cups, and would be called up when our food was ready. We got our coffee and found a seat. Not long after sitting down my name was called and I went to get our food. I asked for hot sauce, there was none in the dispenser. The staff person said they'd bring it to me. After about ten minutes I went to ask for hot sauce. They gave me the packets and I was on my way. Service was not great. Coffee ran out twice and they weren't busy. There is something about bringing a culinary bribe to perk up souls that are still wishing that they were home in bed. This particular location is in a shopping plaza, so parking is not an issue. It has the usual ambiance and vibe that you expect from a Panera Bread and the staff here was also friendly and professional. Since I was here on a Tuesday, I took advantage of their Tuesday bagel special and I grabbed a regular cream cheese and a chive and onion cream cheese. I was in and out in a relatively quick amount of time and the culinary bribe of bagels and cream cheese did bring a smile to the team there that were there on that early Tuesday morning. All in all, I would definitely recommend this particular Panera Bread if you find yourself in Pensacola, Florida and craving a bagel or another of their fine options. read more

Went here for a late lunch around 1530 on a Saturday. The place wasn't busy. There were two occupants dining inside. When I went to find a table noticed nearly all the table were dirty. Found a semi clean table to dine at and order via the app. Many items were not available unless you customize the order due to missing ingredients. Food was satisfactory. I ordered online as I had a coupon for BOGO for $5 in the app. I placed it for in dine order and my food was hot and prepared as ordered. I love their Iced Green Tea and it is always my go to drink. Couple minutes later they came to the window and I told him I've been waiting there for five minutes so he took her headset off and looks shocked and pushed the power button to turn them on. I'll start by saying I'm not the biggest Panera fan because I know better. Atlanta Bread Company was far superior IMO and I'm inclined to believe that Panera stole the entire menu...but never made the baked goods and food as good. If you've ever had a muffin top at Atlanta Bread Company and had one at Panera you know what I mean. The Panera muffin too is inferior and was never a muffin top so it doesn't even have the crusty edges you get from a real muffin top. I just think Panera took off because the name Panera had a better ring. Now the closest Atlanta Bread Company is at the ATL airport, so I have no choice when I want a fast soup, salad or baked good I a fast casual setting. I settle for Panera...which isn't bad...just not great. I'm used to getting through a drive-through at Panera pretty quickly after ordering but the Pensacola Panera bread on Bayou Boulevard is the worst I've ever been to. This wasn't just on one occasion, but every occasion I've ever wanted Panera in Pensacola ... the slowest service ever. It doesn't matter what time of day you come, and it doesn't matter how busy or not busy day are you will not get your food within 10 minutes ... note that 10 minutes is already too long. Be prepared to wait even a half hour for your food. What makes it even worse is the lack of customer service when you are ordering your food. There's another Panera bread near the University that I may try out and Wood Drive further if I knew I could get better and faster service because sitting for a half hour here I might as well drive 15 minutes there . read more

Just wanted to say that every time I have been to this location the drive thru takes 10 minutes at minimum. One time me and my boyfriend sat AT THE WINDOW for about 20 minutes. We're not even in line with people ahead of us. we had ordered and pulled up to the window and it still took 20 minutes at the window. The drive thru is extremely slow. Which is confusing to me because the food inside comes out pretty quickly. Considering Panera to be a fast food restaurant. You should probably consider your drive thru at one of the top priorities since most customers are trying to get something quick. Maybe even have people only making food for the drive thru. Got in line at 7:30pm and left at 8:20pm.......gave me the wrong order so they had to remake my food.

So we placed an order for delivery. Food gets here, and it's someone else's order. In addition to not being the correct order it wasn't enough to feed my family. So we call and speak to one of the employees and she says that the manager, charlotte would have to process our refund. It took that employee forever to find our order. Charlotte was supposed to call us back to let us know our refund was processed. She never did. My wife tried calling to verify and asked for charlotte and was placed on hold twice for over 10 minutes each time. Then they started screening the calls and letting it just drop the call. I hope someone who is over charlotte sees this. Because of her lack of customer service I will be claiming this transaction as fraud with my financial institution and providing them with the information that I have. Also because of charlotte I will never purchase from Panera bread again. EDIT: Charlotte refused to speak with my wife on the phone. Other employee got an attitude and wouldn't give her the phone. I love Panera Bread and have been going to them for over 20 years. The food is always good and consistent. The reason for 2 stars (and I debated 1 star) is the wait time at this location. In Central FL, the Panera drive thrus might be a 10 minute wait... possibly as much as 15 but the two times I have gone to this Bayou store drive thru, the wait has been between 45 minutes and one HOUR. For a drive thru, that's insane. The way this drive thru is structured, once you are in line... you're not going anywhere. (I have also ordered on the app and come inside to pick up and also waited an extra 20 minutes after I arrived for my order) So between the terrible wait times in the drive thru and the inside of the store they get 2 stars. One of the stars is for good food the other is for friendly staff. The area mgr should replace the GM and/or retrain the entire Mgr staff. I get it may happen once but three times over the course of a year is a problem. read more

I enjoy Panera's food, however, their website is a DIFFERENT STORY! I had to call a location to actually find out how many ounces are in the "cup" bowl and "group bowl"- There is INCOMPLETE information in the description of the menu item to actually know what the item includes. Additionally, I find the ordering process extremely slow and inadequate because the website is not programmed to specifically use ordering from a computer -vs- ordering from the phone app. Instead of investing in a program that properly caters to specific devices, the website flips back & forth between the app and the website while ordering, which is extremely antiquated in design, and that makes it inefficient. I have actually become frustrated with the slow and inaccurate operation of online ordering and just placed an order with a different restaurant on several occasions because I don't believe in supporting a business that refuses to invest in site development that gives customers ease in ordering. My recommendation is for Panera to completely redesign its website with a focus on CUSTOMER SERVICE instead of the focus being on promoting additional items to the order. The "new" rewards are also a disaster because there are specific keystrokes needed to add a reward item to the order. Most customers would not automatically understand that a "Free" order has to be added to the order and then the redeem tab has to be activated AFTER the item is on the order (fortunately, my husband is a programmer, so he is able to explain how the programs are written, and he can explain why the site isn't working adequately) If Panera wants to grow their business, they can start by investing in their online ordering. Sometimes, a company has to spend money to make their website more user-friendly, this is the situation that is currently existing with Panera. read more

I wasn't really a fan of Panera Bread but never actually gave it a chance so my wife and I went there for dinner. The inside is nice and clean and had a few people there studying and eating. We opted to order through the iPad type system since it was easier to take our time and figure out what we wanted. We ordered the you pick 2 and got the broccoli cheddar soup and the turkey avocado blt with a side of bread. I enjoyed both the soup and sandwich. I think I liked the sandwich so much because I was able to customize it to my liking. My wife got the same thing and she said it's something she normally orders when she goes. We just had a very unfortunate experience at the 5091 Bayou Panera location. I ordered a sweet tea and a chipotle chicken avo melt. I was give a cup and not informed there was no sweet tea, and I was given some bacon sandwich instead of the chipotle chicken I ordered. When I went back and said it wasn't what I ordered, I was given grief before they agreed to remake it. My boyfriend order a sandwich with no onions on it. After taking 25 minutes to make his sandwich, there were onions on it. He informed the manager and she said "there are no onions on this sandwich" he pulled out an onion from the sandwich and said "this is an onion" the manager said "I don't know what that is" he replied "It's An Onion" she said "I'm sorry sir, we'll remake that right away." After waiting another 30 minutes he walked over and waited, eventually they informed him they forgot to make his sandwich and gave him a refund. Thanks for making sure the lid on the soup bowl wasn't completely closed so most of the soup was spilled into the paper bag. I asked for a bread bowl but eating out of the paper bag was so much more enjoyable. Best part about the soup spilling into the bag was when the soup went all over my chips and sandwich. The one napkin wasn't enough so I got to take off my shirt and use that to get the soup cleaned up. Great job, homies! read more
