There were maybe 4 Chinese people behind the buffet helping customers. The lady asked me if I wanted the item a certain way. She did not speak good English. I could not understand her. Chinese type food for people who don't like Chinese food. Panda Express is the caucasian version of an already Americanized ethnic food, so in terms of authenticity, you can forget it. If, on the other hand, you are looking for something quick and the whole ethnic thing isn't for you, then this is your kind of place. The people behind the counter are very friendly and you essentially go through the choices of rice and entree etc. The selection is decent and some of the food is pretty close to what you would get at a Chinese take-out while others are clearly factory made - such as the spring rolls. The friend rice is pretty sterile and the spring rolls were downright terrible. Kung Pao was spicy enough, which was refreshing, but the firecracker chicken was tough. Lo Mein was passable. All in all, this is nothing more than an Asia-style cafeteria and good for a refueling stop only. Although I admit that Chinese food in this area tends to be terrible overall, there are some gems out there. This is the worst example of Chinese food in Lynchburg. Everything behind the counter for order that wasn't empty had been sitting under the lights all day. Brought it to the attention of the staff. No one in the place gave a damn. They only work there..... I would have expected it being 5:00 the food be fresh for all the people leaving work. The service is polite, and possibly all the workers are college students. There are ample choices. And the food is very tasty (chicken and beef). My only concern is the portion size. Sometimes they serve like they're stretching the food, sometimes they load your plate down. It's a little pricey compared to the neighboring competition. I recommend go at lunch time. read more

I told her it was my first time eating panda express and she insisted that I try several of their more popular items including the one I told her I came in for, teriyaki chicken. Don't remember what all I tried but they were all good. I had lunch here and got there about 11:15 AM. She said they open at 10:30 AM. This location is relatively new. It was very very clean... The bathrooms were also very clean and properly stocked. I only have two negatives on this restaurant. First, they only sell Pepsi products... I think it is chain wide and therefore out of their control. Secondly, this location has a lot of windows from floor to ceiling located on the front and side of this corner unit space. (corner unit of a strip mall). All of the windows were dirty. I thought I was at the beach... You know how the Sandy air keeps windows at the beach coated with a haze.
