Came to this spot inside of the Super Disco store in Progresso. A little hidden gem with entertainment very nice place and fast paced as the servers were ruching back md forth trying to attend to everyone there. Live music almost Katie style as someone went up to sing once and a lot of dancing to the music being played. The food took a little bit of time but we were in no hurry and the atmosphere was great although it is a little hard to carry as conversation since it is a little loud in there but not too loud. The Bistek lonches had great flavor and were nice and hot when they arrived the bread was crispy in the outside but soft on the inside and the vegetables that accompanied them were fresh which added a Great taste and texture to the meal I would definitely come here again. read more

I'm a California white girl reviewing a restaurant in Mexico. Obviously, I'm not an expert on authenticity. What I can tell you is that the food and drinks were good. I'm pretty simple. I like a classic margarita on the rocks and I'm not going to complain if it's a little heavy on the alcohol. I had two margaritas and they were delicious. It was lunchtime, but I ordered some breakfast. I have a place back in the SF bay area where I eat chilaquiles all the time. It's my go-to weekend brunch plate. I decided to try them at Pancho's. I got them minus the chicken and they were delicious. My kids got chicken chimichangas. They're normally burrito boys, but they decided to try something different. They both loved them but didn't touch their rice or beans. They said they were very plain. I didn't try them so I can't comment on that. The restaurant itself was very clean and comfortable. The waiters were friendly and efficient. The prices were probably high for the area, but they were cheap compared to what I pay in the SF area. My chilaquiles were $6.50 and my margaritas were only $4 each. The place was packed and everyone was having a great time as far as I could see. The only thing I didn't love was the volume of the music. It was difficult to have a conversation without yelling across the table. When the guy on the keyboard took a break, it was much better. read more

From my very first trip to Pancho's to every experience thereafter, I could not be more pleased. The atmosphere brings an instant smile to my face whether it be walking in to Winter Texans getting down to live music, or a quieter off season Monday morning. The service and food are exactly what you could hope for on a quick trip to Progreso. The Panchos and the lonches are fast favorites and any accompanying drink is certain to get you feeling good! A strong pour and low prices keep me coming back every time I cross the border. The cute coffee shop now located out front as well as the attached shopping center only add to the experience. We've eaten here quite a few time's.The food has always been good, tasty and great service. But, not the last couple times. We were there today and it just wasn't the same. The food was ok. I had bistek lonches. Almost no filling. My wife had a chimichanga. The best thing about it was that it was hot. Service was terrible. Our meals came out about 5 minutes apart, no offer of more beverages, and we waited at least 15 minutes to get our bill after asking for it. Several people seated after we were served never got waited on and just left. Never again. read more

Mmmmm the best Mexican food I have had in a while!!! I'm from the valley but since COVID and the danger zones I hadn't been back in a while. Coming here brought back so many childhood memories and a sweet taste of home. We walked in perfect timing to see and hear the mariachis. We were taken care of quickly and the food was the absolute best part. I brought my boyfriend and it was also his first time in Mexico. Couldn't have gotten a better quick trip to Mexico. We shopped for souvenirs and the restaurant was exactly in the store too. Easy access, great food, great music and felt safe from danger and COVID. read more

Never been to Mexico so while'll on the edge of Texas why not- we crossed the bridge and pancho bar had the highest rate ( we didn't wanna venture too deep into Mexico!) the streets are filled with venues wanting to sell you dental plans and tees... we entered a mini-mart that was HUGE with gift and things and a little grocery attached to it, the restaurant was inside this store- as soon as we entered you can hear the music and people clapping and dancing... I'm vegan so not a lot of options but I did get the veggie lancho ( bread and guacamole basically) nothing too special- I ordered a piña colada ( at first I didn't think there was any Alcohol in it, until I ordered my second glass...) I was tipsy on the walk back over the bridge... be prepared to show proof of your US citizenship along with some questions ( my questions were more intense than my hubby maybe be cause she knew I was a little tipsy, I was expecting them to check my purse but they never did...) South Padre Island Beach Trip Day 3: Spent the day in Nuevo Progreso Centro!! This restaurant is upstairs above a local market. They have live music and a dance floor as well as a huge wrap around balcony! The food was good, especially the chips and salsa. The nachos on the other hand were not much to brag about. Be careful with the bar tenders!! If you don't give them exact change they will walk away and IF they come back soon they will deny that you gave them a large bill. My husband had this happen twice last year, in March, and one time a couple days ago. The drinks and food are good and averaged priced. It is a fun environment as they often have live entertainment. I come here every time I go to Nuevo Progresso. My absolute favorite thing to order are the Lonches and a Non-Alcoholic Mango Margarita. They even let me customize it by adding chamoy and trechas!!! The Panchos are also really good here! The service is ok but nothing to brag about. The ambience is nice. Great expanded menu! Drinks are great and a large selection. Food is ok, I have not been blown away by the lonches. I can find better ones stateside but the atmosphere is good, usually music and dancing. A little touristy since it's next to the shop. Think cracker barrel of Mexico. Service has always been good and friendly. Also pretty quick even when serving larger parties. It's conveniently located as either your first stop or last before crossing the bridge back. read more

Huge super busy restaurant with band and lots of loud tourists. Prices are a bit cheaper and more options than other places. Food decent. The flautas bad. Service decent to good but you might wait a while. There's a much better restaurant called Grande Grill at Calle Coahuila and Metamoros it's few doors down from Reynosa with outstanding service and amazing food also have a band. This restaurant serves hashbrowns when u order a mexican plate. Its a mcdonalds style hashbrown. Cant believe these mexicans have gotten that lazy. When i asked for potatoes, they braut me french fries.....omg. cant believe they did that. EL Dorados in Weslaco has better food or the taco stands are authentic. Cant believe idiots go and order this and stuff it down their face thinking its authentic mexican food........wow. ur better off eating at a taco stand where they take pride in their food. read more

Great place to people watch and drink Margaritas. They have completed a new, larger bar area and have more food on the menu. Tacos were basic but tasty and the pickled onions with habanero were great. Salsa was good too. read more
