I have probably been a client at Northern Hills Dental for the past 7 years. I really have not a…read morebad thing to say about them and their service during most of the 7 years, except one time when one of the hygienists was quite 'rough' in the cleaning process that resulted in some pain during and after the appointment. Recently, however, I have noticed that they have been quite tardy in their appointment schedules. For the second time in recent memory, I have waited in excess of 35 minutes for my appointment (the first occurrence was much longer than 35 minutes), not including the time I waited before my scheduled appointment time (I always try to arrive early for my appointments). This defeated the purpose of me getting off work a half hour early so that I can get all dental work done before my following dinner commitment. I am not sure how often this happens at Northern Hills Dental but it has happened to me twice. If I were repeatedly late 30 minutes for my appointments, I am sure they would have told me to reschedule. I understand that there are sometimes circumstances that could have extended the appointment before me but that could have been avoided by properly estimating the amount of time it takes for each appointment. For example, extra time should be set aside for children dental appointment. I know that is the case with my toddler... it always takes longer than scheduled. I understand that the delay for them to see me was because they were in the middle of a procedure for a child that took longer than they had allowed for. However, this is the type of repeated experience that causes client to go elsewhere regardless of the reason.

I was pleasantly surprised with how everything looked and felt, and Monica (the receptionist) was super friendly from the start. I went in for a dental cleaning, and was greeted by Pascal before I went in to the room. He was my hygienist and he was not only knowledgeable, he was also very careful with my teeth. I came out feeling refreshed and happy that my teeth were cleaned thoroughly. I would highly recommend anyone to come here. Even if you're 15+ min away, trust me, it's worth the drive.

I was anxious about needing a tooth implant (I've had a few before, and let's just say it wasn't ever "fun"), but Dr. Thomas's warm energy, kindness, and expert explanations immediately put me at ease. You could tell this man genuinely loves what he does, and that energy radiates -- it says, "I've got you, you're in great hands, and we're going to do this together." I even asked Dr. Thomas to explain what he was doing in real time as he worked -- because I find the process fascinating -- and he happily complied! After the procedure, he walked me through the X-rays and what to expect, so there were no surprises. His skill, positive energy, and incredible bedside manner make you wish every terrifying dental procedure could be handled by him. I genuinely think he has a little magic dust, and he doesn't even know it. It was an absolute pleasure to be under his care. The entire team is extraordinary. Kim at reception made paperwork a breeze and greeted me like a ray of sunshine. At the end of my appointment, she even let me pick a toy for my good behavior -- I chose a little monkey for my daughter . Barb, Dr. Thomas's right-hand lady and dental assistant extraordinaire, is like a refreshing comfort drink for the soul -- she anticipated my anxiety, was gentle and thoughtful, and made me feel completely safe. Every small gesture mattered and made a difference. They even went above and beyond with thoughtful touches: a gift bag full of goodies, a boujee ice pack, a squish mouthwash to prevent bacteria, a toy ( which I decided on a hanging monkey, to remind me of this awe some experience and very clear instructions, and a light blanket because I was cold (and I got to keep it!). Every time I see that blanket, I'll think of these superhero teeth humans who made me feel safe and cared for. A huge shout-out as well to Dr. Kara and Dr. Bogle, who I had consultations with before meeting Dr. Thomas -- their guidance led me to him, and I am so grateful. And of course, to the receptionists you meet when you first enter the clinic -- they were incredibly warm, welcoming, and set the tone for the entire experience. Clinics everywhere could learn a thing or two from this level of care, expertise, and humanity. Thank you Dr. Ben Thomas, Barb, Kim, the front desk team, and the whole amazing team at North Calgary Dental. My implant is in, no issues, and I felt supported, reassured, and full of gratitude the entire time. You all didn't just do your jobs -- you made a difference in a fun, human, warm, and ridiculously competent way. I'll never see dental work the same way again.
