Every year for Mr. MVP's birthday I surprise him with an experience instead of a tangible gift. We…read morehave been married for 16 years and when we need something we simply buy it, so I like to give him surprise events and adventures (we actually call them birthday week adventures) that he can remember. This year his birthday adventure was a day at the spa. He has had a normal massage from a professional at the Healing Arts Center before, but he has never had a manicure, pedicure and facial. I wanted the whole package. I called an entire month in advance only to find out Willow Day Spa was booked. They were able to fit him in for a massage and manicure and pedicure, but they could not fit a facial in - I made the appointment. The price was around $200 for a 90 minute massage and a manicure and pedicure. I have absolutely no idea if this is a good deal or not. I'm just passing along information. I called the day before and confirmed the appointment because I had not received a confirmation call. I also asked if they had any cancellations for a facial and was told there was still no room on their calendar. The next morning I sent Mr. MVP off in the car with an address and wished him luck. He really enjoyed his morning. He said the staff was very nice and professional. The building was lovely and very clean. Mr. MVP is agreeable with everyone, but he was really impressed with all of the people he met and actually suggested that we go back for a day in the future for him and I. He then told me that the staff said they had room for a facial if he could stay until 2:00 p.m. This made me a little angry. I did not say anything to him because it was his birthday adventure, but I was told three times there was absolutely no way a facial could be worked in to the schedule. Ugh. Mr. MVP had a nice morning and it was a mostly simple scheduling process and I could make the payment over the phone. Willow Spa does have packages available, but I would recommend calling way in advance. I obviously did not give enough advance time on the calendar. **As a note for those of you who go and do get a massage and are smell sensitive. Mr. MVP came home and had the strongest scent of whichever oil Willow Day Spa uses. Even after he took a shower it was STILL there. The oil just hung around and would not leave. We have an almost scent free house because of my severe allergies and this smell was so strong it took over our entire house. After one more shower and changing the sheets the smell is finally gone.

I was here recently for a pedicure. The spa and amenities are nice. The pedicure was ok, but maybe…read morenot exactly what I would want from a spa environment. Bright lights, and the music is louder than I would prefer, but it may not bother others. The nail tech was nice but they should let the customers decide if they want to talk or not and let them lead. People go to a spa to relax, not to be quizzed about their life. Customers will feel pressured to talk, as not to seem unfriendly. Leave people be unless it seems like they are feeling chatty. I had also requested no scents and no music if possible, and they did not even mention it, definitely used scented prodcuts. If they could not accommodate, that is fine, but what is the purpose of the notes if no one pays attention to it? The pedicure itself was mostly good except that body scrub should not be used on dry skin because it is painful. And even though I am a good tipper, I agree with what someone else said about the auto-gratuity. For what they charge, it should not be necessary for them to pay their staff well all on their own. Overall, just ok.

My mom really wanted a Thai massage ever since she had one while visiting me in LA. So while I was…read morein town during the holidays, I thought I could try to find a spot that can do it so she can get regular massages. The few places I called around did not specialize or have anyone that can do it. I appreciated the honesty. When I called this place, they said yes, they do Thai massages. So great, I booked an appointment for her, but went with 60 minutes just in case it wasn't great. I have to say that pulling up to the building made me want to turn around and skip the appointment. But my mom wanted to push forward so we went in. The inside is a bit more welcoming, but still, it didn't feel right. The lady that did the massage and greeted us had a hard time understanding our questions. We had to repeat 60 minutes and I had to confirm it's a Thai massage with very firm pressure. She was confused then said yes. That didn't leave me with a lot of confidence. Nevertheless, I left my mom for her massage and came back within an hour. She told us that it was the worst massage she has ever had and that she repeatedly asked for firmer pressure but possibly due to her lack of skill and understanding, it went unchanged. I should have listened to the Yelp reviews and not the Google reviews.
