Good call, John. Tad Gormley deserves a listing and reviews. I LOVE the WPA reliefs that surround…read morethe stadium and the vintage touches that still abound in this stadium. I've attended HS football games and the US track & field competition here. And John is correct that the seats are not super comfy; this is why my Mom has a stash of stadium cushions, I guess. However the seats are well spaced so there's plenty of room to pass by others. Back in the day there used to be concerts here. I really wish they would do that again, because that would be awesome. If you have the chance to go to an event here, go just tour the venue.

This is the stadium where I attended many football games when I was in high school. I was able to attend as both a fan and a player so I got to see many unique things about this stadium. As a fan I liked the large amount of comfortable seating. OK, that is a lie, the seats are hard metal that will make your butt fall asleep after only a brief period of time. When it is cold, your butt is not only asleep, it is freezing. If you come here often, I recommend one of those cushiony stadium seats, preferably one with your school's logo. There are concession areas and bathrooms on each side of the stadium so you don't need to mingle with the opposing team's fans, unless you want to. This helps prevent all sorts of silly arguments between football fanatics, especially grandparents of players. Once the canes start swinging, look out. As a player, the roar of the crowd was always motivation even if I was just headed to the Gatorade table. The view from the sidelines was always unique as it was surprisingly difficult to pick anyone out in the crowd. But pick you out, they could. I will never forget seeing friends or family after the game and having to endure their questions about why I held my helmet a certain way, or why I picked the red Gatorade over the orange. It was all a bit stressful. The most amazing event I experienced here was the time my team scored a victory and it marked some astronomical number of victories for our head coach. You would have thought we had one the Super Bowl except that we were in high school and not being paid exorbitant sums of money. OK, enough reminiscing.

Lately the pelicans games have still been pretty empty especially at the top. For it to be HBCU/ Divine nine night it would've been nice to see them give some free or discounted tickets to the HBCUs in the state and local divine 9 chapters. This way you fill the seats, and I'm sure those attendees would've spent money at the concession stands. The pelicans played the bucs that night but the bucs were missing Giannis and the Pels were missing Trey Murphy. Pels could've won the game but of course at the end they fell apart. Throughout the game there were performances from members of HBCUs and diving 9 groups. Xavier University Band was there but they had them at the top in the stands. It would've been nice if they let them perform on the floor so everyone could've seen and heard them better. They had HBCU trivia game that I thought was a nice touch. I think next year it'd be nice if they showed pictures on the big screen highlighting some of the distinguished alumni from the Louisiana HBCUs. The giveaway for this game was a bucket hat. They did not hand it to you when you entered the game like they usually do. You had to wait in a long line after the game to get it. This line led to the Courtside club where there was an after party. Once we made it there this man said it was at full capacity and no one else could go in. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to the dj. My uncle also went to the game and he was able to get in the Courtside club and said how they had kids in there which he thought was weird since there's also a bar in there. For the future I think they need to hand out the hats in the beginning and either make the Courtside club entry 21+ or just have the party outside of the arena where everyone can enjoy the music and step shows from the Greeks.

I don't even remember the food being that aromatic and nothing I saw being eaten looked enticing. That's a bummer, because they've got captive appetites for the duration of the event. We eventually left a little early to eat elsewhere. Otherwise, the parking lot is very organized thanks to the friendly parking attendants. The ushers are very sweet, too. The price of tickets for our LSU vs. UNO women's basketball game were great for the location of our seats. Seating is good for a stadium, but if anyone was sitting next to me, I may have felt a bit cramped. For reference, I'm 5'4 and 200 lbs. There are ramps that everyone uses to lead into and out of the arena, but I can't speak to the accessibility of the seating.

The energy inside the arena was electric, and thankfully the show started a bit late, which helped since everyone was running behind. That being said...getting there was a nightmare. Only one way in and out, and the GPS took us to the wrong entrance. We got turned around, which made us even later. Total chaos in the parking lot, and no clear signage or direction from staff. Once we were inside though, it was worth it. Great venue acoustics, awesome crowd, and a night full of laughs. Just plan to leave early and pack your patience if you're driving in!

From security to vendors, staff at YS are so friendly, professional, and add to the cheerful vibes all around. Layout is easy to follow, good signage, clean and comfortable seating. I dont use public loos, so can't comment. Our food experience was the only downside, it was disgusting, horrific! Initially, it tasted like what we've come to expect, good ol' fashioned game day food in Louisiana. The fried shrimp was scrummy, but then the fish was a little...funny. So I pushed it aside for the waffle fries to find they were not only packed to the top with scraps - but with pieces of a fried, melted, plastic utensils. Vile. There was no way we were leaving our seats, missing the game, to run down 4 staircases and halfway across stadium to return it. So $30 into the trash, after a couple of shrimp and 3 waffle fries. It's not the one next to the stadium and about a 5-10 min safe walk. On the way you can stop by the LBC and go to the campus bookstore to get team gear. There are several entrances into the stadium and the security checkpoint staff were all very nice and quick. Once inside there are many food choices available. We got the combo basket at Dooks, it was great at first but then found the first layer of waffle fries covered the bottom of the fryer bits. For that price, do better Dooks. Will eat elsewhere next time. It was very easy to find your section and seat. Not sure why so many people have a hard time realizing what section they are standing in. It's well marked. Stadium was clean and nice. Would go back again.
