We were amazed at how many tigers we saw, plus many other animals. The best part is we didn't have to walk great distances between the enclosures, like at the Asheboro Zoo. This zoo is definitely Kid AND Senior friendly. There are ample benches and places to sit to just enjoy nature and watch the animals. We also loved the fact that this is a non profit sanctuary for animals needing rescue, rehabilitation, or medical treatment. The staff is very friendly and willing to talk about the animals. You can purchase feed cups and throw the peanuts to the monkeys, which was a lot of fun. We enjoyed being so close to the animals, yet it was still a safe distance. I was able to get great pictures and we marveled at the size of the tigers' paws. Go in the morning when the tigers are more active - but make sure you go... this is a place you don't want to miss!

It's not like the NC Zoo experience but the amount of big cats here and how close you are to them is extraordinary. You can tell that they really care for all of their animals and if you get the chance to talk to one of the keepers, they will talk to you with relevant information to the point you could have a BS in zoology. It's cheaper to get in here that our local Science center and way cooler. I'm not a cat person but these cats are awesome. They even had a timber wolf which was really cool. Well worth the trip from Greensboro area and again, you can tell that they really care for these animals.

If you go in and you want to learn and ask questions this will be an experience you won't forget. My Dog Napoleon thinks it's his park and insists ongoing there for every walk. Most people are respectful and enjoy the green area and also clean up after themselves if they have dogs, however there are a few in the minority that aren't as community minded. Saw two other large dogs with owners who could barely control them. Unfortunate because there are a lot of children and people playing near the water area and the playground area. Highly recommend one of my favorite parks of the city. They also have concerts and events like movies here.

There is a huge green in front of a bandshell that is an amphitheater. Lovely public restrooms. A neat shaded walk with picnic tables and a gazebo. A beautiful fountain. All in the shadow of the Bell Tower. The park dates back to 1855 when Salisbury native Maxwell Chambers donated the two blocks to the First Presbyterian Church. Playground review: it's a super nice space and is designed for ages 2-12. There's a ton of different equipment for all abilities. However frustrating when older/larger kids are wreaking havoc and abusing the equipment while moms are talking with their backs turned away from the playground. Don't be those moms.

Worth every penny, my kid had never enjoyed animals until this trip. The outdoor animals are in excellent comfort and clean areas. We fed goats and pigs. Then we went inside and saw Guinea pigs, rabbits, and a lizard! Phenomenal educational opportunity!! You do need a reservation for the animal tours and they have summer camp so call Ahead to make sure it's available. Parking is in the lot.

Green Needles park is tucked away in a neighborhood in south Lexington, right off 285/52. Just…read morelook for the Green Needles Road exit. The park has never been busy when I have visited. If you want to avoid the crowds then I can recommend this park. As far as highlights, Green Needles has a nice playground for the kids. It's all one large unit that has small rock climbing walls, slides and other fun stuff. The equipment is up to date and safe. Green Needles also has a basketball court (outdoors), pavilion, picnic tables, benches, bike rack, doggie bag station, large green space, and a giant boulder. It does NOT have any restrooms, which sucks because there is nowhere close by to take a leak. Downsides, other than no restrooms, - No mature trees around the playground which means the slides get hot in the summer - You have to deal with hearing and seeing traffic on 285/52
