Then we went inside and saw Guinea pigs, rabbits, and a lizard! Phenomenal educational opportunity!! You do need a reservation for the animal tours and they have summer camp so call Ahead to make sure it's available. Parking is in the lot.

I've accompanied a member here twice now and wish we had something similar to this closer to Charlotte. First things first: For all intents and purposes, this is a private club. You either need to be a member or be with a member at all times while you're here. They recently installed a fence at the entrance that you have to either swipe a pass or enter a code to for entry, but on the weekends it's typically open, with the "Members Only" signs posted beside the gate. As far as the range, it's the best-case scenario. They have a 200 Yard rifle range and 21 pistol bays (split between large and small pistol, with some bays outfitted with steel plates and others where you mount paper targets). There is no Range Safety Officer present, hence why prior approval is not only required, it's a necessity. You (or the member that brought you) are responsible for your safety and treating your guns safely. That being said, for those comfortable and experienced with guns and gun safety, shooting outdoors without a third party looking over your shoulder is much more relaxing. New membership is limited, and from their website it looks like they're at full capacity, as the number of new members is based on current members that fail to renew. Keep this in mind that you'll be on a wait list if you do want to apply for membership. While I can't get up here all the time due to the distance (and the fact that I have to rely on a friend whose dad is a member to gain entry), I always enjoy my time up here.

It's a private club (my father has been a member for the better part of ten years) so the first thing you notice is the gate out front of the entrance. You need a badge to get in most days so it keeps random folks from just walking in and horsing around a gun range. Next thing up the drive is the fishing pond. Really lake would be a better descriptor, there's tons of shoreline to stand on and cast off. Follow the road a little further and to your left is the archery range and one set of the pistol ranges. I haven't personally used the archery range but the pistol stalls are quite nice. Six for paper targets only and two on the end with steel target plates, all with a nice wooden benches/tables. Opposite side of the road are the skeet shooting stations. Wednesday seems to be the popular day to go shoot clay pigeons. Continuing down the road the clubhouse is on the right, rifle range on the left. Rifle range consists of maybe a dozen different bays varying at ranges of 50, 100, and 200 yards. Beyond that and all the way down the left side of the road are more than a dozen additional pistol ranges. The place always seems well maintained and I've never had a problem with the staff or other members. Look them up if your trying to find a great place for some outdoorsy fun.

The clubhouse and range where nice, but it was not until I rolled some putts on the putting green that my hopes started to rise. They had bent grass that was smooth and blazing fast. The staff were all great. Very friendly and everything you'd hope for at any level course. The course is fantastic. I'd say it has about 3 semi weak holes and even those were fun to play. The overall condition was excellent. The green were amazingly good. The sand in some of the green side bunkers were just ok, but in every other respect this track was so enjoyable to play. The views were stunning. My only regret was my choice of tees. I'm a low handicap senior. I chose the blue tees, which would have been fine with summer roll, but the course proved a bit too tough for me given the softer fall / winter conditions. Don't make my stupid mistake. I can't wait to return to this terrific golf course.

I live in Winston Salem and I've been to this climbing gym 4 times already. This is the best…read morefacility in the area by far. There are lots of auto-belays if you want to come by your self. There are a lot of top rope routes, lead climbing area, and bouldering. The second floor has shorter climbs with an outdoor area, a skill training area, and 2 smaller rooms with more climbs and some easier bouldering. There's also a regular gym area, yoga room and a cafe that serves drinks, including alcohol (only after climbing). I was new to climbing and this gym is the best to strengthen my skills. The climbs go down to 5.7's. They have shoes, harnesses, belay devices, and chalk for rent. There's been an on-going groupon for this place (1 or 2 people) and there are special nights like date night and ladies nights for discounts. If you are new to the gym, you have to watch an orientation video and they show you around before you get started. Only complaint: My sister took me to the Greensboro gym the first time and taught me how to do top rope climbing so I passed the top rope/belay test when I got there. We took another friend here and was showing how to do top rope and they discouraged us from teaching him which we thought was weird. They said if he didn't know how to climb top rope he should spend the money and take a class there. It's kind of bizarre because the Greensboro gym goes through a small orientation with you and basically goes through the basics of top rope climbing with you without making you pay them for a class.
