I had a delicious dinner here today in this genuine Afghan restaurant, Pamir. I had the chef's 'suggestion' which was a chicken breast marinaded in Afghan spices and served in a secret sauce (it was tasty and crunchy), with a fresh salad and rice. The white house wine washed it down nicely. The outside terrace was pleasant, the owner was very welcoming and the washroom was clean. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Yes the owner was really nice. The decor a bit eclectic. Although the food was decent, it was a complete misrepresentation of Afghan food. The chicken kabob was way too salty. The kabuli Palau being the national dish was not at all the dish. They had garnished white rice with carrots and raisins and served it with stew. Go for decent food but not Afghan. read more

On a lazy evening in Nice we found ourselves wanting something for dinner that would be a bit out of the ordinary. Like an oasis, Pamir appeared in front of us and we decided to give it a whirl. This was probably our best dining experience in Nice. The wonderful thing about Afghani food is that it blends so many different culinary traditions into its own unique creation, and Pamir did a superb job of delivering on this. We started with the badijan bourani, which was so delicious that it has inspired me to re-explore eggplant in my own cooking. For our entrees, we both had the specials; my wife's was a vegetarian plate, while mine featured lamb. This was one of those dinners where we were scraping the plate with the bread, just to make sure that we didn't leave any behind. The service was superb, and the ambiance was quintessentially historic Nice--which is to say that we watched the world go by while we feasted. Five stars, hands down. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The menu looked really good, the owner was very kind and charming, the outside ambiance was pretty nice. When we first sat down we were the only ones on the terrace which should have been our first clue. We waited over an hour to get our food which made no sense since we were the first to sit down at an empty restaurant. The portions were very small, the food was cold and bland, quite devoid of any real spice or flavor, and everything was really overpriced. We left feeling really disappointed. read more

I had Afghani food before: this time I had no reservation at a French restaurant for dinner and ran into Pamir by accident. Reviews on Yelp were favorable... And yes, the food is very good and tasteful. The waiter was very comforting and trying hard to make it easy for me. He suggested a menu and was ready to combine the dishes for the starters - so that I would not have to make a choice. I had the chopped meat with bread as a starter and meatballs with prunes and sauces and rice. Just fine. I have no idea why the wine is that expensive ...??!! read more

Don't just walk past this place! Give it a go! If like us you have grown a little tired of pizza, pasta and seafood during your time in Nice this is the place to go. We had walked past it with curiosity before and because les palmyre round the corner was closed for refurbishment we decided to try it. The service was excellent and food very nice indeed. We went for one of the set menus and chose a mixed starter with aubergine and a meat patty on flatbread. It had some amazing flavours and was fresh but really hearty. This was followed by a stew with perfectly cooked rice and then dessert, an almond kind of panna cotta flavoured with cardamon (which i love). We were also given complimentary tea at the end which was like a sweet chai (which i love too). Given as our stay had been otherwise littered with bad meals, this really was a breath of fresh air. read more

First time trying Afghan food. I'm a picky eater and was a bit apprehensive but I must say, the food was AMAZING! I got a lasagna thing with yogurt as a starter, some amazing marinated veal/rice/lentil dish as a main and a fragrant rice dessert to finish. So pleased with the flavors and everything was perfect. Very good and attentive wait staff and they sat us in the little back room on the tradition floor seats with low tables. I would definitely come back here again. read more

There's not much to tell here. I came on three separate occasions and each time was shot down. Twice we drove over an hour to come here. Afghani food is different and quite good, but I don't have any positive things to share with this place. read more

We ate here for dinner our first night in Nice. This may be the most overlooked restaurant in the old town area. The food is very good. We took the owner's suggestion for our meals and were not disappointed. The prices are reasonable and this place is a gem. Definitely try the banana ice cream...very unusual and amazing. read more
