My interactions with Pam started out promising, but deteriorated. Her website promised certain focus areas that my 12-week old pup needed help with, but through 2 sessions, few - if any - were covered. Then there was a multi-week gap in communication and eventually a text saying she didn't have the time or energy to help my pup out, all despite me having pre-paid for a 5 session pack. To make matters worse, she overcharged me by $100 for the pack. The only silver lining is that I was able to negotiate a partial refund. The whole experience soured me on Pam 4 Paws. read more

We found Pam upon a recommendation from a client who said she was amazing. We soon learned her knowledge of training pups was more than we could have asked for. We purchased her puppy package for in-home training sessions with our French Bulldog, Greta. Not only did Pam teach us how to interact with her, but Greta LOVED her and learned so much from her visits. At only four months, Greta is now potty trained, comes on command, sits on command, gives, 'hi-fives,' is crate trained, started to learn how to go on walks with a harness, knows command, 'up,' and 'off,' can fetch, and we learned how to calm her when she gets over stimulated. She even began some skateboarding with her! Of course we have to put in the work to continue to in grain these things in a puppy, but I can't even begin to convey the wealth of knowledge Pam imparted on us, so that we could acclimate more into puppy life and so Greta fit into ours. Pam teaches the human as well as the dog giving you a wealth of information, going above and beyond so that you know why a dog does the things they do, how to manage the behavior, and how the dog will absorb the training. I decided to go to Pam due to her good Yelp reviews. I was interested in the boot camp service she offers for two weeks boarding for $1500. However since her boot camp is for puppies, I reached out to her to see if she would offer boot camp for adult dogs to work on behavioral issues. My shihtzu/yorkie mix is 3 years old and has minor behavioral issues such as reactive barking, being timid around some dogs and children, and excitement pee. I am expecting and wanted to correct her behavior before my baby is born. She said she would have to meet my dog first and get to know her. Totally understandable. We met up at her apartment for a consultation. The boarding service she offers takes place in her home by the way. She was nice and warm in person and got along well with my dog, Pinot. I explained to her all my concerns and she seemed to understand. We agreed to do the boot camp where she would train and correct her behavioral issues for one week. I was excited to get Pinot on board. Two days before the scheduled date we planned to start Pinot's training, Pam texts me "I'm so sorry but I can no longer take Pinot in for boot camp." I asked her if it was because of a scheduling issue or because she can just no longer offer that service at all and she replied that she just can't do it. I asked her for an explanation as to why and no response on her end. I haven't heard back from her since. I only had 1 session with Pam but it was a fantastic session and I loved it. I wish we had more time to train together. Pam met my little white dog, Sgt. for some training. Pam was very attentive, warm, professional and friendly. I learned more about what Sgt. needed from me and what I also needed to do to help her communicate with her better. I still have so much more training to do with Sgt. and training is about consistency, repetition, and not giving up. I love my puppy because she is the greatest pup ever! She does have a bit of a stubborn and feisty attitude so I wanted to get a head start with her training; but because she is still young, I was looking for a trainer who would train her while having fun with her and that's where Pam came in. I highly recommend Pam for her professionalism, patience, and passion for what she does. She is very effective and good at her job! Our dog is a 2 year old poodle mix we adopted from the shelter and is very reactive to other dogs and certain profiles of people, especially when they come into our home. During each session, she taught me how to teach him certain commands, and what to do in situations that were problematic. In between the weekly sessions, we practiced what we were taught on him, and when Pam came back the next week we got to build on those things. She is very insightful and helps you understand why dog do the things they do. We have had two experiences with Pam, and are over the moon about both of them. Both my husband and I have been in families with dogs before, but this time was a first for both of us completely raising a puppy on our own. Pam came to our home for about an hour and a half and taught us how to train our pup while training him. It was amazing, we had read lots of puppy books, but having her there to show us what we were doing wrong and teach us the correct way made a huge difference. Our puppy instantly took to her, and we really truly felt like we had a good starting poing on how to train our pup. Just a couple weeks ago we decided to board our puppy with Pam while we went on our honeymoon. I was under the impression the initial meeting with Pam was a consultation since she didn't really focus or address the the two issues I have with my puppy. Instead, Pam talked for 1.5 hours about all the different tricks she could train my puppy. If I would have known the first visit with her is a standard 1.5 hours and was just an overview of Pam's skills, I would not have requested to meet with her. She has posted on her website the option for 60 minutes, 90 minutes or package deals but she doesn't ask or confirm with you the package you'd like to proceed with. Instead, she'll show up at your home, give an overview of all the tricks she knows and then ask for $135. I wouldn't mind paying the money if the trainer addresses the issues, but she didn't. read more

I always use yelp for reviews and ideas on vendors restaurants etc to try, but I've never encountered a service so excellent that it would make me write a review. I found Pam on yelp while looking for a good dog trainer to help with me with my dog. Her 5 star review speaks for her. I have a 10 lb maltipoo who is the cutest thing but has a big barking problem (when people come and go into the house, sounds outside etc.) Pam came over and the moment after we shook hands and exchanged pleasantries she started the training immediately. Her demeanor, the way she carries herself and her clear instructions came so useful during the training session. Pam's knowledge with how dogs think was very helpful in molding a certain training style with my dog and I can tell she doesn't just follow a "step by step" she learned or read from instructions out of a book; she truly understands what she's doing. The training session started off with my dog barking every time she opened and closed the door during our practice session. At the end of the two hour training my dog already learned how to go to her kennel and barked only 20% of what she did originally. She also taught me how to keep training her without her assistance for down the road. Pam did not even say we needed a second session, even though I will insist on coming back! We found Pam on yelp and took a chance with her to train our new puppy Lucie when we rescued her at 10 wks. She responded back to my request promptly and her prices were affordable. Since this was our 1st pup and 1st in-home training we were a bit wary, but Pam turned out to be a great match. She gave us the tools we needed to build Lucie's foundation for following cues using clicker training. Now she can sit, go to her mat, "touch", down, and ring the bell to go out to potty! I moved to the United States with my chihuahua 2 years and half ago and given the huge change it was, my dog became a little crazy: she peed everywhere, even after just walking her, barked when people come to the house and when she heard any noise outside the house. I didn't crate train my dog, so she was not used to the crate at all. Pam came yesterday to our house and by the end of our first session she was able to go into her crate by command, come out and less than 24 hours later she loves so much her crate that every time we come back from a walk runs to her crate and gets in by herself. Also we applied Pam's suggestions and we have been training her for only today to not bark when people comes in and she's already doing so much better, from barking without control and non-stop, she's now barking once or twice max. Also she's responding every time to the command "touch" and come to our hand and touches it with her nose. We are amazed at her fast progress, she seriously is another dog. And by placing her at her crate during the day she seems to be so much calmer and at peace and way more responsive to what we tell her. We are really happy! Pam is awesome, we just wish we had called her a long time ago. Don't underestimate the power of just one training session. Upon my arrival at her apartment complex she left me standing there for 5 minutes as she spoke freely on the phone with a friend. She then challenged me to show her what tricks I had taught him and smirked when he completed everything she threw our way. I thought it was extremely inappropriate let alone unprofessional to challenge someone as if no one else is capable of basic training.
