I had several nursing teams for five days and every team member are CNA and supervisors on the ninth floor amazing. They were knowledgeable, attentive to detail and worked professionally together very well. I could not have asked for more. I have been in many hospitals over the years for my in-laws and parents and witness of a variety of care centers. This place is outstanding.

I came to Scripps ER with an active referral from my primary care physician for surgical removal of a lipoma. My symptoms are urgent (complete numbness and tingling across my entire upper back, progressing up my neck and down both arms, along with sharp pains in my neck and head.) I informed Dr. Kotter of my concerns for both nerve and possible vessel compression. I also shared that my last two D-dimer results were significantly elevated (1,587 ng/mL FEU and 991 ng/mL FEU: * A repeat D-dimer test * A CT scan with contrast or CT angiogram to evaluate for vessel compression Both requests were declined by Dr. Kotter. Only basic bloodwork, and a non-contrast CT was ordered, which cannot adequately assess blood vessels. The logical call would be an MRI or CT for nerves and contrast-based imaging for vessels, plus a repeat D-dimer...instead of only a non-contrast CT. This decision risks missing a time-sensitive diagnosis such as vessel blockage, clot, or combined nerve and vessel compression, and represents a potential deviation from the standard of care. This is the kicker! Dr. Kotter stated there are "no important blood vessels to worry about in the back; the ones to worry about are in the front," which is medically inaccurate as the back of the neck and upper back contain vertebral arteries, deep cervical veins, and other clinically significant vessels. I also requested that these refusals and my worsening symptoms be documented in my chart with full clinical reasoning. Documentation was not completed during my visit, and I was told notes would be made & reflected in my chart by Dr. Kotter "in 24-48 hours." Dr. Kotter agreed to document her decision and clinical reasoning behind declining the tests. I left the hospital feeling my symptoms and concerns were not taken seriously and that urgent vascular and neurological risks were not fully evaluated. Thank you Ryan/Jared for being kind. I was wondering at first and thinking how small is this area for parking to be a big of a problem. We came an hour early just to scout the place. They were not kidding. It's a big structure with lots of parking space but also full parking lot. Just like where I work.. it took us 20 minutes to find a parking space and was lucky to have it near the building where my appointment is. Reception wise, same as other Kaiser Permanente clinic or hospital I went to. In about less than 10 minutes, they called for my name and there's Ms Anna Lee and Mr Andrew receiving me warmly by the door. They brought me to my space and let me change into patient gown and Ms Anna Lee walked me through the procedure, Mr Andrew started my IV and I am very appreciative of him granting my request without questions. From there I already felt at ease and most of the questions in my head regarding the procedure were already explained. Few minutes passed and Mr Jonathan came in greeted me and introduced himself and took me to the procedure/sedation room. He also walked me through the things that will be done in that room. Mr. Cesar and Ms Kara were there as part of the team. Moments later, Dr Masters came in and explained to me what will transpire and ask me if I have questions. Procedure was done and all went well. I really appreciate being assigned to this team. They have exceeded my expectations. I was at ease and I have no doubts or questions during my visit. I had never been to this facility before, it seemed new and very clean. The staff were super friendly. As the driver of the patient (my friend), I had to fill out a form so they could keep me informed on the progress. She was taken in in a timely manner and I started getting text updates almost instantly. The waiting room was bright and comfortable. When she was done, one of the nurses came out and showed me where to park in 30 mins to pick her up. I got my car from the street and received another text she was on her way. They brought her in a wheelchair and loaded her into my car. It was quick easy and super efficient. I'll be doing it again next month. I sure hope the parking situation is better then.

That alone made me feel cared for. I especially want to thank the nurse who received me this morning. I don't remember her name, but I will never forget her kindness. With her sense of humor and warmth, she eased my anxiety within minutes. In such a vulnerable moment, that kind of humanity makes all the difference. The medical team was professional, organized, and confident. Even in a highly technical environment filled with equipment, everything felt coordinated and reassuring. I felt safe the entire time. My procedure turned out better than expected, and I went home feeling peaceful and deeply grateful at 10:30 am Thank you for not only doing your job, but for doing it with empathy and heart. This place is busier and busier. It feels more like Kaiser then sharp. I am always waiting longer…read morethan my appointment time, to see my practitioner. And last minute cancellations and no one is covering them. The ADA parking is out of code with the federal and state mandates. So if that is something you need, plan for extra time to find a reasonable parking spot, bring a driver or use a ride share. Parking is atrocious for anyone needing ADA parking. This used to be the premiere health care, or at least second. And they are consistently slipping from that. The level of customer service at the front desk, the amount of time the doctors actually spend with you, makes me wonder if they have switched to a for profit healthcare system. Not horrible. Better than healthcare say in Alabama. But. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Sylvia was understanding and so kind while she helped me go through the process of checking my referral and insurance information. After calling 8 other offices Sylvia called me back within 20 minutes of my sending in my documents and told me normally there isn't something for weeks but that there was an opening the very next day! I actually cried with joy! Not only was her timing imperative to my health and recovery but she was so happy to help! I'm very grateful for Sylvia's kindness and ability to tackle her tasks! I've since been to the office once and the staff is all very nice! My therapist Alex was extremely helpful with teaching me exercises to ensure I had the understanding for doing at home! She had a lot to train me on in a short time and I was thoroughly impressed that we accomplished so much together! They handle minor illnesses, injuries and even sports physicals. You can use the 'I'm on my way' checkin option on the scripps app to cut down on the wait time. We ended up going to scripps urgent care because what we needed to be seen for was out of their scope, but everyone we interacted with was very pleasant. 4 stars
