The woman at the circulation desk looked up my account and excused herself and went into an office behind the circulation desk. After a few minutes she returned and told me to take more time to look for the book. The very next day, a constable left his card at my door. When I called to find out why, he laughed when he saw it was for library fines. It was about the missing book! So obviously, the librarian had gone to the District Justice before I went to pay for the book. They wanted me to have to pay all the fees instead of letting me pay for the missing book. What a nice "Community" library!

Despite not being part of the Dauphin County Library System, they will allow you to check out items for 10 days if you show your library card & drivers license. The children's area is not very large, but is well stocked with books and some games, such as floor puzzles, etc. Ample Internet computers available, as well as a small coffee area. The building was very clean and had pretty landscaping out front even for it almost being winter, the inside was just as nice and organize! It was also great the day I went because they had Santa there to see all the kids and you could take your own picture of your child with Santa. They also had some crafts going on for the children of making lIttle reindeer and then Santa read the night before Christmas to the children. I was told this was a yearly thing they do in the month of December for the kids. Staff was also very friend I will defiantly be going back to this library.

Then we looked around in the kids section which has bright and colorful walls with lots of books and toys in the back for the little kids and lots of places to read and relax. The library also has lots of book finders (computer catalogs on the walls). We didn't check anything out this time, but we are sure to come back to the library soon!

The library system is one of Lancaster County's best assets and probably most under utilized. As…read morea kid I loved the library and often participated in their summer programs in the city. Now as an adult living in the suburbs I still love the library. Mountville is closest to me and the one I visit most often. While this branch is smaller than others it still offers all the services the larger locations do. Reserve or request any book in the Lancaster County Library system and they will send it to your location of choice. You can also look up materials and reserve online. This location has several computers you can use for free with your library card access, as well as one children's computer. There is a daily time limit and I'm unsure if there's wiggle room to that policy. Wifi is complimentary so bring your own laptop if you'd like. They have a great selection of dvd's (current and classics) of both tv and movies you can rent for free. The daily paper is available as well as many current and past copies of various popular magazines. The children's area is small but they do offer some programs - check their calendar for details - as well as some toys to play with while visiting. For a smaller library it does get busy at times but the staff and volunteers alike do a great job of managing the flow. If you call however, be prepared to be placed on hold. SIDENOTE: For those with accessibility problems this might not be the location for you. While they do have a ramp to enter the library there's a number of steps to get to it. Parking is limited as well. Since there's a daycare adjacent parking can be problematic at times in their lot so avoid dismissal time if possible.

Not only is it a huge piece of…read morecarlisle history, it was a large part of some of my children's core memories in the children's wing. I had to print some sensitive documents yesterday. The front desk person was very soft spoken and pleasant. I didn't feel judged for my library card shortcomings. After the documents were printed, they let my partner pay for them but wouldn't release them to them. That feels very professional and secure. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet save for the occasional excited toddler bouncing around. There's the bookery which is not only clean and cozy but stunningly fancy looking, kind of like a little palace. Items bought there are yours to keep. The prices are more than reasonable, some of the stuff is antiques. There's a teen wing, non-fiction, a chess board, dvds, sensory items, and a few free shelves. But so much more! There's useful documents everywhere, from a library-offered self-guided scavenger hunt to incredibly helpful mental health resources. Bathrooms are clean and open to the public. I recommend the summer reading program for kids, mine did it for a few years. It's incredibly rewarding for them. Bosler will always be my favorite library. Maybe I'm biased, but I think it deserves every bit of its praise. I will always go here.
