This particular library caters especially well to children, so if you've got kids you should definitely check out all their programs. I couldn't give the place really high marks because of it's very, very limited book selection. Luckily, it's easy to request books from any York County library and have them delivered to your local branch, but there isn't much housed at this branch that interests me personally. Well, I feel I should clarify that statement because if you love Harry Potter, Dan Brown, romance novels, or other incredibly popular fiction, you'll find what you need easily. If you're like me, and want to read classic fiction or to educate yourself with intellectually stimulating non-fiction...you'll have a tougher time. But, the library is clean, the staff is pretty friendly, they seem to have a perpetual book sale which is fun, and the hours are good, staying open until 8pm several nights a week. So, overall a good place, and it's a really great place for kids.

If you need a book that they don't have in the York County Library system they will interlibrary lon it for you. For example, I asked for a history book that York County Library didn't have. Two weeks later they had borrowed it from Lebanon Valley College for me! For free!

But when I saw on Facebook that they were hosting a Jigsaw Puzzle Swap that fit perfectly into my Saturday schedule, I knew I had to make the trip. I had a stack of puzzles ready for a new home, and honestly, what better excuse for a little road trip than puzzles and a good cause? I arrived just a few minutes after the library opened, and it was like stepping into a Hallmark movie version of a Saturday morning--lights on, doors open, and a staff that was already fully caffeinated and in excellent spirits. I toted my bag of puzzles inside, confessed that I was a total puzzle-swap newbie, and was immediately met with kindness and enthusiasm. The staff explained how everything worked, pointed me toward the swap area, and encouraged me to take home as many new puzzles as I wanted--just asking for a small donation if I took more than I brought. I traded in four puzzles and left with four new-to-me ones (self-restraint was very difficult, but I'm trying not to turn my house into a jigsaw warehouse). My favorite part? I dropped off a donut puzzle I loved and somehow managed to find another donut puzzle to take home. The puzzle gods were clearly smiling on me. All in all, it was a really great experience--friendly staff, easy-to-find location, plenty of free parking, and a welcoming, community-centered vibe. I'll definitely be back for another swap. Because let's be honest--there's always room for one more puzzle...right?

Red Land community library is pretty sweet. Theres free wifi, plenty of books and lots of things to…read moredo. The childrens room / reading area is pretty nice, its partitioned off from the rest of the library. Our kids enjoyed the blocks and toys the most. Theres a lego table in the front which is a must see for kids. And a small section that acts like a book / card / calendar sale. Friendly staff, they have a Red Land Little League World Series uniform on display.

Stopped off on the way back home to use the loo and decided to check out the visitor center - which…read moreis kind of cool and has a fancy old motorcycle in the lobby to commemorate Harley. (Didn't get a picture because of the bright sun glaring off the window.) The facilities aren't much here: there are some vending machines and two urinals and two stalls (I think) in the men's. I didn't visit the ladies but I'm sure it's comparable. There are some nice benches outside in the tree-shaded field right before the building which are pleasant to sit at if you're in the mood. I don't really have complaints just wish that Pennsylvania visitor centers were a little larger and maybe had someplace to sit inside. But it is still relatively pleasant to get out and stretch for the final 55-mile leg of my trip home. The gentleman, Walter, inside the visitor center was pleasant and willing to help with directions, maps, brochures and I was honestly surprised the center is staffed considering it's Labor Day but I guess maybe holidays are when it should be staffed.

As if it's a one and done thing. Sometimes I can use the bathroom ten minutes after I used the bathroom. This is life. So when I saw the sign that there was a Welcome Center coming up, I told Jeremy to pull in. We travel a lot and rest stops/welcome centers can be hit or miss for me because of the wheelchair. I was prepared for the place to be packed, since it was a Saturday during the summer, but it wasn't crazy at all. I mean, the 16-wheeler parking was a little outrageous. At one point we thought a truck was going to block us in, and since my ramp comes out the back, that I wouldn't be able to exit the van at all. But the driver moved - whether he heard Jeremy yelling, "Are you kidding me?!" or not I cannot tell you. TWO attendants saw us coming and unlocked the family/accessible bathroom before we had fully entered the building. I'm glad that I didn't have to search someone out. Though it is a pity that these types of bathrooms are ever locked. Makes me wonder what goes on in these bathrooms that they have to be locked. I probably don't wanna know. The bathroom was wonderfully accessible. Even the light switch was lowered so people using wheelchairs should be able to use it. It's been a long time since I have been so impressed by a bathroom. We didn't explore any more of the Welcome Center, as we were meeting up with two other vehicles full of friends at Shady Maple, and didn't want to be late. I am grateful for the attentive service and clean, accessible bathroom.

Lititz Moravian looks like a museum from the road, in fact - most people think that it is a museum. But if you venture inside, you'll find a bustling, mission working, community loving family. Moravian is similar to lutheran, believe Jesus to be God's son, died for our sins and saves us all. They love unconditionally, and have traditions that define them but do not break them. They're also Easter people, at 2am on Easter morning, the trombone choir walks around town playing loudly to announce that Christ has risen! I no longer live down the block from Lititz Moravian, but they will always be in my heart. Look them up, and if you happen to be in lititz, certainly stop by. In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; and in all things love.
