Mannheim Township Library is definitely my favorite. I often use their study rooms, and they're phenomenal. Good bit amount of room, and the sound barrier is pretty decent. Study rooms are first come, first serve, but there's generally plenty space and rooms for you to study in! read more

This library is absolutely beautiful, clean, nicely organized and we love the events they offer for kids! We have taken our 6 month old daughter to a few of the Baby Mania days. This is a great way for her to be around other babies (and it's free!). They read stories, have group activities and end with free time/play. All of the staff I have encountered have been very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend visiting MTPL, especially for their kids events! read more

Overall, it is a very nice library. The people r helpful and friendly. However, the other day I received a humorous call from one of the librarians. In short, she was concerned about how I chose to pay my late fees. The longer explanation is that I could not get my DAD'S in on time because I was taking care of a sick family member. Because I could not get to the library to hand them in in-person, I placed my $4.00 in the DVD's, closed them, and put them in the locked steel drop box. The librarian then left a message thanking me for paying my late fee, but telling me to "never do that again because a whole host of things could happen." Heaven forbid that someone might spend time and energy trying to break into a steel lock box to get $4.00. But seriously, in a world where people r dying every day from war and starvation, let's put $4.00 in a secure lockbox in perspective. The DVD'S are worth more than that and if someone wanted to break in, they would have done it by now. Again, great library, but the librarians need to stop stressing themselves out so much! read more

Brand new with a fantastic layout and warm (and not just the fireplace), inviting area to come grab and good book and dig in. Fantastic children's area with a wide variety from birth on. I really have nothing but kudos for the lancaster county library system. They really seem to know how to make tis work right - even as our governor is cutting funds, our libraries are stronger than ever. I love this library! It is clean and has a wide variety of books, videos, audiobooks, some games, and computers. They have some great events and good community activities. The library staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They also have clean bathrooms. There is also a area to buy discounted books and food. There is even a nice are to read the newspaper. There is plenty of parking and the location is perfect. read more

My family and I have been to several libraries in the Lancaster County system, and this one ranks high above the rest. The building is new, parking is ample, the children's section is phenomenal, the grown up selection is equally impressive, and the staff is the friendliest and most knowledgeable you'll find. In the front of the library is a cafe, ample seating area, and a movie room where they show family films and documentaries. The new library books are right out front, so you can peruse the latest options without having to hunt. The children's area has both traditional tall shelving as well as knee-high shelving that smaller children can reach. There is a computer station with child-appropriate games, near the children's information station, so one of the librarians on duty can monitor what's going on, and several little seating areas where you can read, color, or complete little worksheets. My daughter's favorite area in this section is the circular silo room - during the week there are various reading and other activities that take place there. The grown up section also has a bank of computers, audiobooks, and shelves upon shelves of books to choose from. There are enclosed study rooms (see the information desk to check them out), a copy machine and printer (minimal charge to use them), and comfortable seating areas scattered around the section. My only complaint is that the graphic novel selection isn't that extensive (the city library downtown has a better collection), but the Lancaster County library system has a highly efficient exchange program - simply request the book (or graphic novel) you want to read, and which library you want to pick it up from, and you'll receive an email notification when it's ready. And when you're finished reading, you can drop the books off at any library in the system. Simple. read more

I love the Lancaster County Library system and consider myself fortunate to live in an area with such a great system. A library is by far the best bargain available to everyone. My love for the library started as a kid frequenting the downtown branch. I embraced my love of reading early on and loved that a book can take me to a faraway place and new adventures. Over the years I've tried to keep my membership active. Whether it be using their computers when I didn't have my own, borrowing a free movie, or taking my kids to one of their special events. I 've also been to a few of their book sales which are massive. A must go if you love to purchase books. I've been to several of the locations over the years but recently the newly constructed Manheim Township branch has become my favorite. While I don't get the opportunity to read and rarely check out adult materials myself, the kids area is a great resource for parents/kids alike. This branch has a kids area that is above and beyond the others. Aside from age appropriate reading materials for all ages they have puzzles, lounging beds to cozy up on, computers geared towards toddlers and younger children, a play kitchen, dress up clothes, and a few other free play materials. They also have free programs for all age groups and special events. You can even cozy up in one of their recliners and watch a movie there. Yesterday we were lucky enough to score a drop in opening in toddler time after stumbling upon it unexpectedly. The librarian was happy to include my granddaughter even though she wasn't pre-registered. The class was energetic and fun. We sang songs, did exercise, read a book, learned some sign language, made a craft, played an instrument and watched a story come to life on a felt board. And they even had a mouth jar; a jar just for toys or items that came in contact with a youngsters mouth so they could be washed. I loved that! What I didn't like is how the "teacher" gently reprimanded me for not pre-registering than mentioned it several more times. I thought that was a bit overkill but I learned my lesson and will register in advance next time. Aside from all the fun the toddlers had this class was completely free! On the way out we grabbed a few Disney dvd's to watch at home. Four to be exact. It was unfortunate that only 2 played completely well, with one not working at all. But they do have a little card inside the case to fill out in case to alert them of problems. I'm not sure how often they check that though as the one that didn't play already had a card inside saying so. Hit or miss but still, they're free and the selection is decent. The Overlook complex surrounding the library is also newly constructed. There's a cafe in the library with other eateries nearby, as well as a golf course, walking trails, a skating rink, and a park. I personally feel if visiting the library that it's easier to use the entrance on Fruitville Pike. Entering from Lititz Pike means you have to drive thru the entire complex, which is somewhat confusing. Highly recommended! read more

The best investment of my local taxes. As many activties to take advantage of as books. Very reader friendly staff that is accessible and informative. Love the art exhibits and overall ambiance. I even saved money on consumer reports archived issues that helped make better purchasing decisions. read more

The ABSOLUTE worse place to take your 1 yr old and 12 yr old!! I have NEVER in my entire life had someone make me feel like I did not belong somewhere! I was at the "teen" computers bc my step son was helping with his brother and it was close the printer, had this little snotty stuck up girl tell him "there's a child area" when I asked who told him that she came right around the corner and repeated herself.. So instead of telling the little shit to mind her business I simply said "ok thanks" and she looked at me and walked around us ha! She went to the front desk and made a complaint about my son!! So the "director" and 2 other staff came along and decided it was acceptable to approach me and my kids like we were hobos, and made us feel like shit! The little girl walks past smiling at us the whole time.. And so my family and I went to the "child area" that wasn't that child friendly and we got stared at, the whole time!! I asked numerous people for help with the printers and just got "passed around" first time ever going there and the way we were treated was as if we were beneath them!! My son is 1, he's going to be interest in the world around him and venture and talk and play.. My 12yr old step son was doing a Great job following his lead and guiding his brother.. While I was printing documents. The director even moved my sons sippy cup away from the keyboard and told me that "there's to be NO liquid near the computer" she even made it seem like I was illiterate and read the paper to me on the computer!! This place is a joke and let me tell you... I balled my eyes out for the way we were treated!! I cannot believe it. I'm a damn good mother!!, my kids are great kids!! I should never feel nor should my kids feel like that aren't welcome anywhere especially in a "public" facility such as a library! Absolutely appalling!! And FYI I'm in my 30s, it's not like I'm 16 with kids! Just absolutely the worst place ever!!! read more

I can't believe it is only has 3 stars. My son and I have been going to this wonderful library for the past 4 months or so and we love it!! They have so many activities for kids, its a big and beautiful library. They have reading time for Toddlers and we just love it!! It is so interactive and at the end of the story time there is always an arts and crafts time, that is very age appropriate as well. We love it!! The book selection is great as well and the video selection too. The staff is always friendly and very helpful as well. read more
