As a result, my former partner began contacting and harassing me through that email account, forcing me to change my email address. I was also uncomfortable that emails I sent directly to the therapist regarding these concerns and other matters were shared with my former partner. This made me feel that my privacy and personal boundaries were not being respected. After these incidents, I no longer felt comfortable working with this provider. My experience left me with concerns about confidentiality, communication practices, and professional boundaries. Anyone considering family counseling should have a clear understanding of how communications and private information will be handled.
