It's like going to a good relatives place for business (the aunt and uncle that you actually like), a small town business where they treat you right versus they treat you as a quantity. Yes when you pull up you will definitely wonder where the front office building is but just pull into the gravel parking and you will be seen and heard. Knock on the trailer door and enter. We needed 3 yards of base (crushed concrete) and 1 yard of 1/2 inch decorative pebbles for 9 inches of total fill. The front office friendliness and tour of the products allowed us to view the diverse products and what we thought we wanted changed because we saw and felt the products. They gave us the price sheet and it was very reasonable and beat the other prices around, hence the minimalist building and location. Lastly the amazingly helpful backhoe driver helped load my wife's truck for eight separate trips (small truck) and he was super polite and professional to the point that she gave them a tip to buy doughnuts. She never does that for a business but because of the whole positive experience on a DIY (do it yourself project with YouTube) we saved thousands on a our backyard project. Definitely check them out.

I had dug-out and gravel backfilled an area for a 12ft x 12ft pad to be poured in my yard but I had not built the form before the delivery was made. I am a new DIYer so this job was certainly a growing pains type of experience for me however the difficultly in getting the task done was greatly lessened by Randy from Burien Sand & Gravel. He showed up on-time, was COVID-19 prepared and above-all he was kind enough to not only build the form for the job but also taught me how to do it as he worked. This was COMPLETELY unnecessary for Randy to do but he made me feel ok with the fact I was not quite prepared for the delivery. He was MacGyver on the spot using spare materials from around my yard to facilitate the construction of the form. Never once did I feel like he was inconvenienced by my lack preparedness. This is what great customer service is supposed to feel like and me running to my computer to let the rest of the world know how awesome Randy and Burien Sand & Gravel is just a small token of my appreciation for a job well done. 100% getting my business in the future - Thank you so much!

Sol Landscaping was one of the companies who responded to my Yelp request for a big one-time cleanup and also a contract for once a month maintenance. Marisol and one of her workers showed up for the estimate and although there was a bit of a language issue, she seemed honest and sincere. She saw what needed to be done and gave me an estimate of about $3000. I thought the price was fair and hired them to do the spring cleanup. The maintenance price she quoted was $300 per visit. Before cleanup day, I marked with fluorescent paint the weedy areas and shrubs that need to be pruned out to make things easier, so there would be no mistakes (none of the workers spoke English, although I think they could understand it). The cleanup itself went very smoothly and they left the properties spotless. However, getting them to come out for a maintenance visit went the opposite way. Marisol wouldn't commit, and I called and texted several times to make an appointment. Finally she said they could fit me in the next day and I said okay. But no one showed up. When I called again, she said someone had gotten sick so they'd try again in a couple days. Again, a no-show. I finally gave up. It was apparent they were just happy to do the one big job and move on. I wanted to give two stars TBH for the frustration. But they did do the one big cleanup well. Unfortunately I am still on the hunt for a skilled landscaping maintenance company.

I really like their selection and the ease of which you just drive on the scale, load up, pay, and are on your way. There is a vast selection of stone types and sizes to choose from. I do wish that there was more support provided to the typical home owner who may have a sedan or SUV. Per policy, they will not assist in lifting some of the larger boulders into your trunk or car. I understand and respect the policy-- but it's a shame to have to limit selection to the smaller of the half-man varieties. Otherwise, this place is solid and worth the drive from Seattle. A suggestion if this is your first time selecting boulders: The rocks are covered in dust. Bring a container of tap water if you would like to see what the boulders/rocks will look like once they are in your landscape. The water is also useful to rinse off your hands which will also get fairly dusty.
