Chris the Palm Doctor has kept my old Palm TX units running for years. No other device can replace the TX. The TX gives me a full sized keyboard that fits in my pocket. Like having a full laptop for note-taking in my pocket. But sometimes I need a little laptop for travel and the ASUS Transformer fit the bill perfectly. It is small enough to fit in a fanny pack, but it runs Windows 10. I dug it out recently in order to attend Zoom conferences for work. I was horrified to find that it had come unplugged. The battery had died and it was in a state that it could not recover from. As with the Palm TX, the ASUS Transformer was so perfect that it was discontinued and nothing like it is being made anymore. It seemed like a longshot, but I asked Chris if he would be willing to try to open it up. Fixing it is the easy part. Getting it open without breaking it is the scary part. I can't imagine anyone I would trust more than Chris to do this. Not only did he get it open. He fixed it and got it back together again as good as new. It works perfectly now. And he turned it around immediately. And he stayed in constant contact every step of the way. Who does that anymore? Not only are your repairs a kindness to those of us in need, Chris. My 10-year-old Garmin GPS stopped charging from the automobile cable. Garmin doesn't do repairs. Found out about Short Tronics through the Internet and exchanged emails with Chris Short. He was very responsive, returning email same day, with a cost estimate. I shipped him the device, got an acknowledgement the day he received it, and another email later same day indicating the problem and the cost. He fixed it that day and mailed it back. Worked great! My experience has been nothing short of excellent. Chris gives the customer personal service, always ready to answer any questions, and in my case threw in a substantive bonus for nothing. Also, a very quick turn-around. history: I'd done a DIY battery replacement on my old Garmin Nüvi GPS which was successful as far as the new battery, but I managed to break the antenna in the process. UGH! I bought another identical but locked GPS on eBay for parts for a few bucks. I sent both into Chris. Chris replaced the battery without the other GPS, and then fixed the second GPS back to like new condition for a small fee. Now I have my original GPS and a fully functional backup, as well. Had not heard of PalmDR (AKA Short Tronics) before a recent issue with my garmin GPS but I gave them a try and it was an awesome experience. My GPS was dead and they repaired it within 24hrs of receiving it for a really fair price. They also had fantastic communication and kept me up to date on the initial order, repair status and when it was on it's way back to me. They repaired my gps in 24hrs and it was back in my hands 2 days later. --------------------------------------- Update - 2 yrs later July/2017 --------------------------------------- Had another GPS encounter issues and sent it over to Chris. Once again the repair was lightning fast and remarkably affordable. Round trip including shipping was about a week.
