Today I am 61 days sober, that may not seem like much but that number is only growing and I have to…read moregive Beachcombers a massive thank you. When I arrived (after detox) I was nervous and very guarded, my stomach was in knots. I was welcomed in with open arms and that feeling of unease ended extremely quickly, I almost immediately felt like I belong, like family...which is something I never really had. My stay at beachcomber had such a profound effect on me as a person, that my life right now at only 61 days...has already become a far better life than I had thought possible. When I initially began this process (and even halfway through lol) I was extremely bullheaded, skeptical and so untrusting that I doubted everything they said however, not one single time did I feel judged in any way! The therapist and staff were really patient with me and understanding, they gave me time to figure it out myself and I and so thankful they did. What I didn't realize was that I was fighting myself, not them lol It wasn't until I stopped fighting and convinced myself that maybe they are right, maybe I can't do this on my own, that my entire experience turned around. I will never forget my first experience with Saundra, I remember walking away upset lol! Saundra will establish dominance and so she should! Saundra became my therapist for a short time during Thanksgiving. I was nervous and didn't know what to expect with her but within moments, I felt better. My sessions with her were the most uplifting and empowering sessions I've ever had. She feels like a caring mom, she won't let you dwell and you can tell that she really does care. Saundra gave my the approval and motivation that I needed to come home and turn my life around. Most people who struggle with addiction need that level of humbling, structure, that mother-like love and discipline. I now understand why she is the way she is and I am so thankful! Most addicts like myself are used to people enabling us and getting mad when they don't. We tend to be prideful, as if we know it all lol they will bump heads with your pride...they need to do that. They're fighting the thing that is trying to kill you so needless to say you will not find an enabler at this place!!! What you'll find is the care of a former addict, the therapist here have all been in recovery for a long time. This gives them the ability to actually understand and know what it's like from experience not textbook. Personally, I say...you can't help anyone through something unless you've walked in your shoes and they have all been there and done that!! Rapid trama therapy with Val was life changing, she makes you feel completely at ease and by the time the season was complete, I felt a new type of energy a "can do" energy. This place is run just like a big loving happy family, everyone contributes and works together, it was a wonderful experience. I would highly suggest them to anyone who had enough and wants to live a better life all you need is an open mind and desire for change. They'll walk you through the rest! Good luck

My experience in this facility was the worst possible outcome imaginable…read more Sandra was the counselor who ran most of the groups I was in during my 30 days there, and her qualifications and motives were questionable, to put it mildly. I could not more strongly suggest that those seeking compassionate, professional help with substance abuse and/or addiction issues look to other programs and avenues than this place.

First visit was fine. Getting all my info etc. Which lead to testing. I had to reach out to Dr…read more Weiss to review the results which could easily have been a phone call. I was told it was an in person appt. She ran very late for my appt without anyone telling me how much longer I should expect to wait. I think she was nearly an hour past my appt before I saw her. Went over results. Came up with a plan. She disappeared in her office for long stretches of time while you're in the exam room. I did everything we talked about and got another round of tests a 2 months later. I've now learner nothing much changes in 2 months and the second round of blood tests should have been a few more months later. Had the second round of test. I got all my results from Quest Diagonsits and needed things explained to me. I called and texted with the office multiple times to have a follow up appt. At first who ever was on the texts was quick to reply. They then disappeared and I never got a call back from my multiple messages left on the office line. I will not be going back. I shouldn't have to work so hard to have my primary doctor review tests results with me. Can not recommend Dr. Weiss.

Loved her after my first visit. 3-4 days later, she calls my Psychiatrist and my mother (no…read morerelease, just listed as emergency contact- I am an adult in my mid-20's) telling them I need to be admitted into hospital immediately, without seeing me, speaking to me, or examining me. The last person to receive a phone call was myself personally where she reiterates that I need to be admitted to the hospital immediately and that I need to be taken off of all my psychiatric medication immediately- for which she is not the prescribing doctor. After being hurried off the phone, I contact my mother and psychiatrist to try to figure out what on earth is going on. I speak to both of them, call her back, speak to her office staff and am assured she will return my call when done with her patient. She does not return my call. I go to my follow up today looking for an explanation for her actions- which she cannot provide. She offers a contradictory timeline of events and actions and says, "I deal with so many emergencies, it's hard to keep them straight." Her office staff rolled her eyes when my mother asked what the *** happened and gave the implication that this is a regular occurrence. She accused me of being an addict, having no judgment, and not knowing what I was talking about. Personally, I found her demeanor erratic, spacey, uninformed, and generally confused- perhaps like she was the one on too many drugs rather than me. Her actions led me to call into question not only her personal judgment but mostly her medical judgment. She promotes homeopathic remedies for psychiatric disorders which can only be managed by medication and offers medical advise outside her field of expertise. Additionally, as icing atop the cake, she was 45 mins late seeing me for my 1st appt and 25 for the second. Apparently this is her norm. For homeopathy, go see her. For real medicine, look elsewhere. I am seriously contemplating reporting her to the board.

The lead behavioral tech named Taylor was my tour guide. I was shocked by the conditions that I found at each of the properties. At one property I saw a dog living inside the residence with urine, feces and vomit all over the floor. The stench was awful. It was shocking to see a residential facility in such a condition that is supposed to provide a clean and safe place for those suffering from the disease of addiction. On the outside of another residence I saw mangos stacked up a foot high which can attract rats and vermin of all sorts. The inside of the residence was a mess. Beds not made, clothes all over the floor, a very unhealthy environment for people in recovery. I did not see an environment at any location that was conducive to recovery. At yet another property I saw dead roaches all over the kitchen area. This was supposed to be their 'best property'. The residence was in a good location but I don't want my loved one to live in an environment where roaches out number the clients.Three out of the four residences were in bad neighborhoods where drugs are plentiful. The residences were dirty and lacked structure (unmade beds, clothes strewn all over the place, looked like a chaotic environment). Most treatment providers have a housing manager at each residence to insure against this type of disorderly atmosphere.Who is responsible for maintaining these properties? Ultimately the responsibility falls on the owners. My tour guide Taylor seemed like a good person and was embarrassed by what we were seeing. The Clinical Director seemed to have a heart and care about the clients. One of the owners named Charles seems to be running the day to day operations. He is either incapable or unwilling to provide the proper care for Sound Recovery Solution clients. There are many treatment options in Delray Beach. I would highly suggest that you look at other treatment providers for yourself or your loved ones.
