I am disappointed in the way that Palm Beach Tan handles their ongoing billing. I signed up for the Stay and Save program. This is a good option if you want to take a break from tanning. You pay a nominal fee of approximately $7.50 per month and whenever you decide to start tanning again, they will keep your monthly rate the same even if they have raised their membership fees. I came back and started tanning again on Feb 1st (2023). I let them know on that date that in speaking with my bank, I had some fraud on my account. I explained this to the front desk and gave them my updated bank card. I then noticed on Sunday, March 5th, that my debit for March hadn't been taken yet. I went by this evening (6th) to inquire about my March payment, wondering if they had just gotten a little behind. The latest they have ever taken it was the 4th. I was then informed that my debit for March had not gone through and my monthly membership is $117.85 but now they have added an additional $10.00 fee. I asked where did they "attempt" to debit me and she gave me the last 4 digits of my old card - the one that I canceled on 2/1 and I already gave Palm Beach my updated card - which I just explained to her. She then stated "I don't know why this keeps happening". So I asked her if this has happened with others and she looked up at me and said "no". But it was inferred that this has happened with others. In any case, now it's 7:59 pm and I asked may I please tan since they are closing in 30 minutes and that I will straighten this out first thing in the morning. She said "no, you are not allowed to tan when you have a balance and you now have a late fee". So, this is pretty much the straw that broke the camels back, for me anyway. I tan because it helps with my depression and it just makes me happy. But there have been no happy dances from me of late. I just wanted to stop in, tan in a 12 minute bed, relax and shut out the world. Instead, my anxiety went thru the roof and I was kind of made to feel like I'm a criminal or something. Very rude staff. I called back in February that I wanted to cancel my membership as I did not need it anymore. I came in today for a spray tan and was told that I did not cancel my membership, that it can only be done online. I was never told that. I had to pay what was owed and the employee was rude about it and did not bother to help with the situation. I will not be returning and will look for another location. read more

It was my first time going here for any type of tan but I can honestly say I will be back for any tan I need in the future. Cre was the SWEETEST soul & helped me out so much with all my many, many questions lol. I have my maternity pictures tomorrow and was scared about picking colors and didn't want it to look crazy but she genuinely took her time and helped explain everything and all the prices. She made the whole experience 10x better but the overall place was very clean and nice as well!! read more

Have a diamond membership which includes unlimited tan and spray tan, one not all the pbt have same spray capabilities and color options. Had to pay extra for color pigment which this is first time I was charged 12 outside on my membership for the pigmentation I've been getting weekly. Spray machine did not provide even tan. If I am going to pay for an all inclusive membership, why charge me for a service I have been receiving at another location. Plus side staff friendly and facility is clean! read more

I purchased a 3 pack of spray tans. They were over priced and you had to pay extra for the pigment (IE color), go figure. If you pay for the tan, you should get the color included !? Anyway, I needed the tan so I paid the outrageous price for it. This was right before memorial day. I spent time at the beach for the holiday and I had family visit, time slips away. I went back a month a half later to find out that my subscription had EXPIRED. What the H ? I was neglected to be told that the tans that I paid for expired 45 day after purchase. I would think that if you paid for a tan, then you would get what you paid for. This is a racket !!! I would not recommend this place to anyone. BUYER BE WARE ! read more

Total ripoff. Overpriced products they push on you like used car salespeople. High pressure. Total scam! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! I have dealt with tanning salons a long time, but this place totally sucks. Their tanning beds are not that strong and it's all about how much money they can deduct from your checking account. Do NOT trust these girls that do their best to "push" their products on you like wheelers and dealers. A serious lack of maturity and professionalism. I live in another state- just wanted to get a tan on vacation. Went in at a very busy time and waited with half a dozen people while two ladies spent 10+ minutes on the same customers without acknowledging any one else. When I was helped, I inquired about a spray tan, was told it would be approx. 30 minutes due to the business. I said that's fine and paid. I waited OVER AND HOUR AND A HALF. Every single person in that tanning salon when I came in and who waited in line with me CAME AND WENT. Every single person that came in after me CAME AND WENT. People who came in an hour after me, who I overheard also wanting spray tans were helped and left while I was still waiting. After I was the last one there. I notified them of how long I'd been waiting, they said that they serve people in the order they come - which clearly wasn't happening. They eventually offered me a pass for a free tan, but I don't live in the state, so they offered me a sample of lotion. I was finally helped, the young woman gave me thorough instructions and it was THE WORST SPRAY TAN I've ever had. I stood in the place and positions she showed me, I followed the prompts, I waited for the drying and when it was all done It was dripping off of parts of my body. And it sprayed on very unevenly - didn't ever reach my sides or parts of my arms. I will never return. Two hour wait and a shitty spray tan?! I want my $50 bucks back. read more

Best tanning salon ever. They knew exactly what package I needed to help me get the tan I wanted. They know all their products very well. Anthony and Lauren are the best people here at the salon. Lauren helped me pick out a Bronzer that would work for me. Tanning beds are nice and clean always. To the rude District Manager who checked me in tonight, You ma'am need to work on your people skills. I have been coming to this location for two months and have enjoyed my visits here. This evening however my encounter with you has ended my future business with Palm Beach. You greeted me so rudely with "scan you finger" and when I explained I don't want my finger print on file you very curtly said "well this is an ongoing situation here....in the state of Florida you must provide a fingerprint or a photo id." Ok, I understand there are laws but why was I just made aware of them NOW??? Not once was I asked to do this before. I would have given my i.d. gladly had this been asked of me before. I understand you may be irritated with "your" staff that they are not keeping to all the expectations of keeping within the guidelines of the laws-however me being the customer-I do not need to feel that HEAT! I am a leader of a multimillion dollar company myself. And I must frankly say Ma'am...if there is fault in this "branch" the fault lies at the top-meaning with you. If you are not satisfied with the way this location is being operated the fault is with you. I personally have had pleasant experiences here at this location until encountering your rudeness. Horrible beds! If you want a tan don't go here unless you want to waste your money! The floor is gross and I worry about sanitary conditions not the best! I've tanned here off and on for several years. This year they have apparently come up with a new policy that is not disclosed in any of their paperwork or online. If you have not tanned in 2 weeks they will cut your time for tanning to half of what a full session is. I live 45 min from this salon so I can't come that often. I already had ramped up and had a base tan yet I came in and they would only allow me to tan for 6 min. That's what I tanned when I first came in with no color at all! They charge my credit card $110/mo and I basically was allowed to tan a total of 16 min all month! That has never been an issue before!! Couple that with the telemarketer hard sell for over priced products (think $200 tanning lotions) and it's ridiculous. Every time I come in I'm told I have a 35% discount but they can't guarantee if I don't use it NOW that it will be offered next time I come in. Oh well! Even with the discount the lotion is $150 for 6.5 ounces. You do the math! They tout skin care but at those prices it should make me age backwards. I'm DONE!!! read more

Absolutely ridiculous. They don't do single session tanning. I went in to get a little tan before flying back to Wisconsin. The girl refused to do a single session for 30, I find It hard believe this is policy, seeing as how I paid for a single session the day before at a different palm beach tan. She said I need to buy a package of two sessions for 60 dollars. I understand wanting people to come back, but they aren't losing money by allowing a single session. read more

While visiting with a very dear friend over the Labor Day holiday, we found her in the midst of a panic attack once she realized her 5+ carat diamond wedding set was missing. She shared with us that she first missed the rings prior to departing from this tanning salon. She informed the only employee in the salon that her rings were missing. This employee had entered her tanning room to correct a problem with the tanning bed during her visit. She thoroughly re-checked the tanning room & the restroom to be certain she had not dropped it upon redressing. She returned home to search her master bath just in case she had removed it before departing for the tanning salon even though she remembered removing it while in the tanning salon. I called the tanning salon to see if perhaps they had found the rings after her departure; however, I was told that no rings had been found or turned in to them. I, therefore, notified the police. The police officer suggested we return to the tanning salon; and, call them upon our arrival to complete a police report. While driving to the salon, I received a call from the store manager notifying me that no rings have been found or turned in. At that time, we informed the manager that we were on our way back to his salon to meet a Police Officer who would file a police report. Within 5 minutes, we received a call from the salon manager informing us that 2 rings had now been found which would be placed in the store safe. We are extremely thankful that the rings were returned to my friend; however, we find the entire experience to be alarming. We were not provided with a reasonable explanation of how the rings re-appeared. We feel this incident should be further investigated by the Franchise Owner and Management to prevent other customers from the emotional trauma that could occur upon potential loss of valuables while visiting this business. I suggest that policies & procedures related to this type of incident be reviewed with the 2 employees involved; and, provided to any patron who reports a loss on the premises. read more

Lots of beds and usually no wait if you don't have to have a particular bed. Their 24 hour rule can be a problem. While tanning salons must only let you tan once a day, PBT requires that you wait at least 24 hours from one tan to the next, down to the minute. This can be a problem if you want to tan every day. If you get off work and go to the salon at 5:30, but then leave work earlier the next day and arrive at the salon at 5:00, you are required to wait another 30 minutes before tanning. While they tout this as a safety measure, it also has the effect of reducing the number of times you are likely to tan. They are very high pressure salespeople, both about the tanning packages and lotion sales. If you purchase a monthly package, your first month will not be pro-rated until the second month. So if you want unlimited tanning for 30 days and sign up on the 15th of the month, your charge in Month 1 will be for an entire month's charge. Only when Month 2 is charged do you receive the reduction due to the fewer days in Month 1. They REQUIRE that you have a debit or credit card on file (Hint: you should NEVER leave a debit card on file for this or any other business) and will not allow you to pay cash if purchasing a tanning package since that wouldn't enable them to auto collect. Also, you must provide substantial notice before the end of the month if you don't want to continue your tanning package for another month or you will be charged again. These procedures pretty much wipe out the "no contract advantage". There are no rugs or anything on the floor beside any of the beds and the floors are worn tile, so who knows whether it's clean?? You have to admire PBT's business model--they've definitely figured out how to get the most $$$ out of their customers. read more
