I was a member for more than six months and primarily used the sauna. The first several months were positive, but over the last two months there has been a noticeable decline in professionalism and consistency. I was told one week that towels would no longer be provided (with no prior notice), only to see towels available again on other days depending on which staff members were working. Most recently, I thanked a staff member and wished her a good evening while leaving. I was ignored despite being the only person in the lobby. When I repeated myself just in case she did not hear me over the music, she yelled "You're welcome" and literally stomped away. That interaction, combined with the ongoing inconsistency in policy and tone, led me to cancel my membership. Courtesy and professionalism matter. read more

Where to start? Got sold a package I didn't want then manager brought up to me that I had to call corporate and defend myself from being sold something I didn't want. She gave me an attitude. Then the bathroom didn't work for days... clearly breaking the code but greed doesn't care. Bad vibe. read more

Got overcharged and the experience went downhill from there. Terrible place overall. Staff was unprofessional and didn't take responsibility. What really kills the credibility is that it's obvious employees are writing their own reviews. The praise doesn't match the actual experience at all. Huge red flag. Well,it's May 1st and still no new bulbs.They tell me they arrived a little over a week ago but no one has come to install them.My guess is maybe sometime this summer they will get around to doing the installation.At this point I would like to have my money back.I tanned almost every day.My package was for a year and started in mid February.I have only "tanned " a few times but I have gone by several times to check on the bulb situation. Buyer beware DO NOT purchase any subscriptions from this company. For one thing everything is overpriced and I ve been charged over $150 for services I can not use and they refuse to cancel my subscription. Saying I owe $40 for a denied monthly payment yet haven't used these services in months since or during the missed month. Cancelled my whole bank account because they refuse to cancel unless I pay another $50 so making it a total of $200 in charges and haven't used in 3 months and I cant use the services cause I owe yet are still charging me every month! Crazy and scammy if you ask me HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND and will make sure to spread the word. The beds are garbage and when called to speak to a manager they told me only they can contact the manager and there was nothing they could do for me! The short version.. have been a member at Ultra Tan over 10 years, never had problems. I have found Palm Beach Tan to be an unorganized business mess, especially the North Myrtle Beach location. Possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced in ANY salon anywhere. The answer" I don't know what to tell you" .. when trying to tan and another person used my account is unacceptable. It was my first time ever trying a tanning bed and the lady at the front desk was beyond nice as well as helpful with getting me set up. I got the smallest package deal which only includes one of the beds they have there but you get what you pay for and I don't need anything fancy. Definitely recommend for first timers. read more

So i hate to be that person to make bad reviews on line. However the beds suck. Yes i got a low package because u guys went up on prices for the same old beds but that still is no excuse Especially with the bulbs sitting in the back room. Now to top it off my card was not taken, agine not my fault. Then u charge me a late fee on top of that. Going on 2 months now still not even getting what i paid for. Then turned around and paid 38.00 for bed because of 7 bulbs out in my so called pack bed. Oh also i was informed that i was given bed 4 as a Courtesy upgrade. So today i was put in a bed that was so little and was from 1999 are u kidding me. The worst tan place ever. Sooo i canceled my membership and went to planet fitness. Lol for 25.00 for the black card i get all level beds, 2 level 4 stand ups,red bed, massage chair water blast massage bed and a chance to hit the gym if i want and its open 24 hours. I bought the spray tan monthly package. Wasted my money~ they have been out of medium and dark for three weeks~ all they can offer is light which is basically like getting sprayed with no color. Then they offered the 4 step spray tan but I have to pay $10 for the upgrade each time I go after they didn't have what I originally paid for by the month. The lady said she has no idea when the truck will bring what the supplies so I'm pretty much out a month's spray tan that I paid for. Guess I definitely need to find somewhere else to go! read more

I came in for my first spray tan at this salon assuming it would be $15.95 like the website states. I am from out of town but I tan/spray tan frequently where I live so I know the process. The unfriendly lady at the front told me the colors but did not inform me of any upcharge for the different colors. I ended up being charged $40 for one extremely blotchy, streaky, horrible spray tan that was for a wedding so that was unfortunate to say the very least. I emailed the salon & was told I could be refunded $15.00 for not being charged for the first time fee. I tried explaining I was never informed of certain colors being more expensive and they chose to just not respond. In the end I was still charged $25 for my first horrendous spray tan. I do not recommend this salon and will be spreading the word, this is too bad they had a chance to make it right & still didn't. read more

I got dark with an extra add in and I woke up the next morning the same color. The two step machine was broken so I had to use the four step. The service was fine i just do not see any results. read more

This place has really gone downhill. They coax you into packages. Overcharge you. Then tell you that you can't go for the full time because you were going to another site. Here you can only tan for 7 minutes for full price. Oh yeah and the bed sounds like it's going to explode any minute. read more

Would NOT recommend a spray tan at this place. Somehow wound up paying $40 for a single spray tan. Couldn't even tell I had one. They add on and add on again, then the computer didn't ring something up right so I had to pay that fee as well. If I didn't need it THAT day, I would have probably walked out. Today, I visited Ultra Tan for my first time. I was unimpressed with the lady at the front desk who played games on her phone and didn't make me feel welcomed. She tapped a few things into her computer but didn't know how to do it correctly without calling her manager over the phone. She also didn't know the current specials and made me confirm the special they were holding for the certain tan I was getting that day. Finally, I go in the back and all seems well. Granted, I have never had a spray tan before so I had no idea what I was doing or what to expect. The lady quickly went over what I was supposed to do, but told me it would've been better to just read the sign posted in the room. I finished with the tanning process and as I look down while drying I saw that I had a spray tan with a small cockroach! Luckily, I'm not terrified of bugs. This does make me wonder how they do clean the other places throughout the spa. I doubt I will be coming back due to the odd first incounter with this place. read more

I tanned here because it was a well known chain in my area, and it advertises 19.99 a month. What they do not tell you is that there is a 15.00 membership fee and a 25.00 cancellation fee. The place is ok but the beds are not cleaned after every use. I switched to another tanning bed down the road, East Coast Solarium and I can cancel at anytime and pay 20.00 a month. The staff there is a lot nicer and overall a cleaner and classier place. read more

The nastiest people to deal with, especially after they get your money. I wanted to freeze my account but was told my contract was un-freezable. So, all I could do was cancel it, so not to have it drafted from my account the next month. Account was debited and caused several things to bounce on my checking account. The girl at the counter had me sign a paper to cancel the contract, but never mentioned anything about it being too late to cancel for the following month. I had to by the 25th and I signed on the 26th. I asked the girl at the counter if all was good, and my checking account would not be debited. She said you're good to go. No it will not be debited. But sure enough, it WAS! I called corporate, and I have never been so rudely talked to in my life. No concern for any of their customers. I asked for the girl's supervisors name and that I wanted to be contacted immediately or speak to them immediately. She was very rude and gave me as little information that she could. I doubt I will receive a phone call back, and this isn't the last that they have heard from me. read more
