This is an exquisite salon with the most high-end equipment available. It is spotless and orderly. However, it is extremely high-pressured in reference to the sale of packages and products. That's a big turn off. If I pay top dollar, which is unavoidable here, don't guilt me to death to purchase more than I want or bullying me to buy your skin products. There is also a blurred line between "Alabama Tanning Law" versus "Alabama Tanning recommendations".
We are already accepting all associated risks with UV radiation.
This salon makes it virtually impossible to buy a month to month package. If you don't agree to a monthly automatic bank draft for a YEAR, regardless of your needs, they will charge you for it anyway with the highest month to month prices I have EVER SEEN. I have been to nice salons with reasonable monthly packages. Get on board, PBT. No matter how many perks you offer with the draft, it's still more than we want or need.
I also resent being treated like a child when I have to present my tanning goggles to the receptionist at the front desk before each session. If you don't present them, you have to buy them. They probably cost less than a dollar but I guarantee you'll pay them 10 times that.
I'm am adult. Don't insult my intelligence by demanding to see my goggles. Do you follow the client into the bed and make sure they wear them? Ridiculous. Another way to force a sale.
"Are you good on your lotion?" What if I don't want to use lotion?
If you tan at 1pm on Tuesday, you cannot tan at 12noon on Wednesday. You have to wait 24 hours on the dot. The computer won't even allow you to check in. Use some adult discretion please. I was told that's Alabama law. No. It's a recommendation. Again, we are accepting the risk. Don't be petty with a few minutes difference.
Your salons are impeccable, so why not practice some relaxed customer service? People come to relax, not to beg off from sale after pitch after pitch. No more rehashed check in speeches. Just say hi and let me tan. Give me a fair price in the increments I desire.
Stop trying to convince me to upgrade, sign contracts, etc.
I am willing to accept a less fancy place for a more relaxed atmosphere. Put choices and control into your customers hands and they may surprise you with better sales for you. read more
