Though advertised as homemade ice cream, their product seems to come from a company called Yoders. Disappointing, but the ice cream was still tasty. The Kahlua ice cream had great flavor and I'm a sucker for unique flavors. The price point isn't all that bad either, which Ben & Jerry's walking distance away charging 3x more, it makes this treat a steal. The ice cream itself could be a bit fresher, as it tasted freezer burnt. The staff here could also be a bit friendlier. Overall, Big Olaf's isn't what I remember it being, but if you're looking for a cheap scoop when walking around St Armands it is worth a visit.

Of course the ice cream was still good--it's ice cream!!--but some of it seemed a little stale/crystallized, like it hadn't turned over in a while. The tables were small and chairs could have been cute, but their metal seemed rusty and the tables were obviously in need of replacing. As we ate our ice cream (mint chip, pistachio, my daughter had cheesecake and my husband had white chocolate raspberry, his favorite), I looked at the billboard behind them... There were old cartoons probably cut out 15+ years ago, and an ancient map of St. Armand's circle. The cartoons and map had drips of ice cream on them and were faded and torn. There was a fun fact about ice cream...from 1999. We might have caught them on an off day, but I was not impressed. They're also "cash only" and had a faded picture of George Bush and a Charlie Kirk hat on display... Overall, they need to do a deep clean, refresh their decor and perhaps implement some payment technology to join us in 2026.

The staff is amazing, the locale is bright and airy. Absolutely incredible. Come check them out. You will find something you love.

We were helped by someone I believe was named Julie or Julia (I'm not great with names), and we ended up chatting a bit because she used to live in New York too. She was so warm with the kids and let us sample just about every flavor, which made the whole experience feel really personal. The ice cream itself is fantastic--creative flavors, but also genuinely delicious. You can taste the homemade quality in every bite. I had coconut and dark chocolate, the kids had vanilla, dark chocolate, and watermelon mint, and my husband also really enjoyed his choices (though I can't remember exactly what he picked). Overall, it was just a really pleasant stop with great ice cream and exceptional service. It's also right next to Origin Pizza, which is another spot we'd definitely recommend.

I tried the pumpkin MiniBites, Dubai brownie, two cheesecakes, tres leches and something with pistachio I can't remember. ‍ All were sweet without being overpowering. My family's favorites were the MiniBites, strawberry cheesecake and Dubai brownie. All were well balanced and sweet without over-the-top hurting your teeth. The plain cheesecake with cherries on top lacked flavor, as did the tres leches. Both could be improved with cinnamon or some other defining flavor. I look forward to coming again and trying the Banana Pudding Milkshake!

There was 5-7 ppl family before me who couldn't decide what to order so they let me go ahead. I ordered to go and got a table sign while waiting. But somehow 15min -ish later, the family who ordered after me got their order first and left. Plus, it was so warm inside, I was sweating. When I got my order, they just gave me 2 containers with forks and napkins; there was no way I could carry all with my hands. Later, they offered me a bag to carry out but I wish it was done before I asked. Food was great, strawberry açaí refresher I bought was too sweet for my taste. The experience, however, could have been better. The employee did greet me when I walked in and let me sample a flavor before I made my choice, which I appreciated. However, he seemed to be in a rush, which made the experience feel less welcoming. I came hoping to try the tiramisu flavor because I had seen it on Yelp, but I was told it was only last week's flavor. I understand that flavors change and that they had just received a shipment, so not everything was available yet. I just wish there had been a little more guidance, such as letting first-time customers know where the current flavors are posted (I had to ask if they update them on Instagram). As a first-time customer, it would have been nice if he had asked whether I had visited before or explained how the rotating flavors work, instead of making me feel like I needed to quickly pick a flavor and move on. One other thing I noticed is that there isn't any seating inside. A few tables or chairs would make it a more enjoyable place to sit and enjoy the gelato. Overall, the gelato was good, and I appreciated being greeted and being able to sample a flavor before ordering. With a friendlier, more engaging customer experience and a few small improvements, I'd be more likely to return. *Thank you for your response. I believe there has been a misunderstanding, as the visit you described was not mine. I visited as a first-time customer and purchased two gelatos to go--one for myself and one for my husband. I sampled two flavor before ordering, which I appreciated. I also want to clarify that I never had a father with me, nor was I part of a group sampling every flavor. Because of that, I was surprised to read those comments in response to my review. My review was simply an honest account of my personal experience. I acknowledged the things I appreciated, including the greeting and being able to sample a flavor, while also sharing constructive feedback about feeling rushed and wishing there had been a little more guidance for first-time customers regarding the rotating flavors. I respect that every business receives feedback differently, and I wish you and your business continued success.

Both of their ice cream flavors were spot on and tasted of good quality. Very fresh and the texture was very creamy and smooth. Overall it was delicious and we enjoyed our experience.
