The Hotel Metropole is situated directly on the shores of Lake Como, and their Patio Restaurant provides great views of the lake. It's a beautiful older hotel, in the heart of Bellagio. After touring the fabulous Villa Melzi gardens and traversing the hilly cobble stoned Bellagio streets adorned by abundant shops and restaurants, it was time for lunch. The Hotel Metropole is conveniently located in the town, and the alfresco dining offered provided a perfect view of the lake. There were plenty of tables available when we sat down, so we selected one with an optimum view. It was a great spot to watch the public ferries traversing the lake, and the private water taxis buzzing about in this busy little town. We selected the Salad with Prawns, and Spaghetti Carbonara. Both were nicely prepared, the prawns were fresh, and the spaghetti cooked perfectly al dente, in a tasty sauce. Service was good, and the patio venue unbeatable on this beautiful day. This was a solid four-star experience for our pleasant lunch. read more

In Rick Steves' Tour Book, there's the Hotel Metropole, its Ristorante, and the Snack Bar. I think Gayle and I stopped at the later near the end of our stay in Bellagio. We had already had Lunch and we were in the mood for either coffee or ice cream. The Hotel Metropole Snack Bar has some nice scenic outdoor seating and yes it's a bit pricey. But so what? We were on vacation and we were only snacking. My ice cream sundae (see picture) was delicious and refreshing, and of course the people watching was worth the cover charge alone. read more

I was wondering around Lake Como and wanted to find a breathtaking view along with some food. I did have a list of places but couldn't figure out how to get there or where to find a cab since I only had about 4 hours in town before taking the ferry and train back into Milan. The clientele is definitely older and well heeled but if you don a pair of oversized black glasses, you'll fit in well and probably receive a few glances your way as you sip your wine overlooking the water. I ordered the linguini allo scoglio which was about 9 euros at that time and a pinot grigio. The grigio was good but linguini didn't really impress me. However, as with any meal I take, I asked for dessert and ordered the most sumptuous coppa carmellatta for 6.5 euros. It totally made my meal and had such a smile on my face. Sundaes, sunshine and a terrace overlooking a water is definitely a great way to spend your holiday in Lake Como! read more

The hotel was very nice. The desk people were helpful in answering all questions. European hotels have smaller rooms, but these were fine. Nice large bathrooms made up the difference in room size. Quiet. Had great views of Lake Como. Rooftop seating was great for having a drink from the hotel bar. The view of the lake at night was beautiful. A full breakfast was included with the room. Perfect location for shopping, finding a restaurant, running around the mountain/lake village. Is in the center of all activity. Good choice. read more

The Metropole Bellagio is the ONLY water-front hotel with a water-front restaurant - a beautiful terrace- where you can eat breakfast (if you get the "include breakfast" option) in the town without paying more than 1,000 Euro per night (high season). Great deal! The food is great for lunch and dinner, or just the bar area, eating with a beautiful view of the lake! Had a craving off of my Italy checklist, linguini alla pesto, and I had it here. Great atmosphere in outdoor seating overlooking Lake Como. The views were awesome and the waiter friendly. The linguini was light and flavored just perfect. My belly was satisfied and so will you. read more

We stopped in here on a rainy day after taking to ferry from Menaggio. We ordered 2 hot punch, 1 with rum and 1 with orange due to the cold. We shared a lasagna. The food is pretty pricey (10E for the lasagna) and the drinks were 4.50E each. This makes it an expensive lunch even with sharing. The lasagna was tasty with some good flavours. The drinks worked very well at warming us up. Although it was pretty depressing having to order a hot drink on our holidays in Italy. Our main concern before the holiday was whether we had enough sun cream (turns out we didn't need it) Unfortunately we didn't get to experience the sun kissed terrace and the view was pretty much hidden under a blanket of cloud and rain . Hopefully whoever reads this will have better luck! read more

Although this specific hotel/restaurant may not be much different in comparison of the others near by when it comes to service/food quality, we chose it because of it's ideal, waterside location. We were able to sit on the patio and have a perfect view of the water while we had wine and antipasti. I got a mixed salad with buffalo mozzarella and although it was good, there is really no way to screw that up. Our food was decent but you could tell it was more for rich tourists than for Italians who were looking for quality. As Bellagio is more of a tourist hotspot anyways it may be the best you will get. Not cheap, but not the most expensive either. Great if you are hoping to sit down with some wine and enjoy some fresh air and wine. read more

Ate lunch at Hotel Metropole Restaurant with my brother on September 12th, 2015 during a day trip to Lake Como from Milan. We were seated at a nice lakeside table, and our server was very attentive and efficient. She took the time to explain the menu to us, and also mention what dish was not available that day (something we didn't plan to order anyway). The food we had was excellent (I had the Filet of Sea Bass), and the Tiramisu dessert melted in your mouth. I would definitely eat here again, even though it is a bit pricey (you are paying for the great view of Lake Como). read more

Beautiful location. That is all. The food was terrible. Service sucks. Management knew we loathed the food. Had saffron risotto that we simply tasted.. inedible. Carbonara over cooked, tasteless. Yech. Manager brought the check and I noted that no one had done more than touched the risotto.He had a slightly bemused look and shrugged. If you ran a restaurant wouldn't you at least ask if everything was ok? I would. I looked at him and asked "Are you are familiar with the internet?" He sort of smiled and walked off. I told him "You know I am going to light you up." Just kept walking. As should you. read more

Good view and drinks but terrible tasting food and poor service. First sign that it wasn't going to be great Italian food is the menu which has pictures of the dishes. Not only are the pictures not the most appetizing, but the food doesn't resemble the pictures. We stayed at a beautiful resort Filario and decided to venture out to Bellagio for the day. The point of this place is the view and we had a better view with good food at the Bistro at Filario. I would recommend eating at Hotel Villa Aurora or the Filario. read more
