The ambience is awesome...décor is western/rustic meets comfy. The cozy leather couch and two side chairs in front of the fireplace is such a nice space! Their wine & whiskey menu was very enticing, but we opted for some tasty Chardonnay. We didn't order any food, but they've got some yummy looking charcuterie boards...next time for sure! Overall I really dug this place and wholeheartedly welcome them to the Montrose community! Y'all know how much I love to support my local businesses! :-) Check them out! You won't be disappointed!

That's not an exaggeration, I timed it. Their menu has an extensive list of Colorado whiskeys but no descriptions of the flavor profile. I asked for a recommendation, and without asking for any of my preferences they recommended one in the cheapest / one star section. There wasn't much of an explanation behind their suggestion and no tasting notes. Not surprisingly, it wasn't great. I had planned to stay awhile for a few drinks but between that and the awkward empty vibe, I waited (another long wait) for the check and left. I hate to leave a bad review for a small business but this one just missed the mark completely.

I just had a cancer stomach surgery few weeks ago, I'm unable to walk normally just yet. And when the clerk "Matt" accused me of being drunk a little before 8 pm. Then he was adamant that I was intoxicated. Im not sure if he's even over the age of 21 or trained properly for his role at small town liquor store. I actually had to show him my surgery scar, I'm not even sure if he's human. Gross .. yikes

July 18, 2026 - Montrose, CO…read more The dog-friendly outdoor patio first caught our eye, and then the name--Horsefly Brewing Company--along with its great reviews convinced us to stop for lunch. We're so glad we did! The patio is spacious and comfortable, with several seating areas that give it a relaxed atmosphere. Our server was friendly and attentive, and his recommendation of the Flatlander Chicken Sandwich ($15.99) was spot on. Since my husband and I often split meals, we ordered one sandwich to share. To our surprise, it arrived already divided onto two separate plates--a thoughtful touch that's becoming all too rare. That kind of service definitely earns extra points. The sandwich was delicious, with grilled chicken breast, guacamole, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle mayo, served with perfectly cooked crispy fries. I ordered an iced tea but couldn't resist trying a sample of their seasonal Peach Ale. It was so good that I ended up ordering a small glass. I'm not usually much of a beer drinker, but this one was outstanding. I only wish they sold it in cans so I could have taken some home! Before we left, my husband picked up a couple of cans of his favorite beers and a Horsefly T-shirt. Great food, excellent service, tasty beer, and a welcoming dog-friendly patio made this a memorable stop. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area.
