I have been here a few times and went just last night with a friend and although it is not the best all you can eat buffet I have been to, it is not the worst either, my only problems with this are that the rice always seems to be hard unlike the one near the market in town where it is always soft and the second problem is the atmosphere when we walked in the waiter showed us to our table and just stood there and were were not sure if he was waiting for us to place a drink order or show us to the food as I have been to buffets where both has happend but he just stood there and made us feel really awkward, and the final problem is that the toilets need to be bigger as there is only 1 female toilet and 1 male toilet which is fine for when its quite but if its busy you may be waiting a while to use it. That aside the good points are that they have a good selection of food including duck as far as I know on everyday whereas some buffets only have it on a certain day, there is also a fish tank which is nice and relaxing to watch the fish even though 1 fish looks a bit big for the tank, 1 of the best things about this place though isn't the food it is the fact that they don't charge if you leave anything on your plate where as a lot of places will charge you £5 or £6 which isn't good if you want to try something for the 1st time and decide you don't like it. The furniture has character to it instead of being some cheap stuff to save on money which is always nice in my opinion as it makes the place stand out, the staff are friendly and say hello as you walk in and goodbye as you leave even if they haven't served you at all while you have been there. As with any all you can eat I work on the theory that you want at least 1 plate full of food for every £5 you spend on the meal to make it worth while and believe me when me and my dad go to 1 of these we make sure we get our moneys worth ; ) read more

Imagine all your favourite chinese dishes ready to eat as soon as you arrive for just £5.50. Bargain! If you eat between 11-4 during the week you can have your favourites from the chinese buffet for this price (or for (£10.00 at on-peak times). The resturant is unlike other buffets I have visited which often feel more like a primary school dinner situation full of rowdy custom. Palace Chine is tucked in the corner of the Kirkstall entertainment complex and is often shadowed by the large Frankie and Bennies, Nando's and McDonalds. Nevertheless if you know where it is you will always pick Palace Chine first for some cheap and quick chinese cuisine! I love this place, four words to say to you. . . . . ALL YOU CAN EAT!! Sold? If not yet, you will be soon. The food is superb, a great selection of all your favourite oriental dishes and you can go up as many times as you like to try as many dishes as you like. Oooph! If anything runs out the staff are ready and waiting to get it topped up again. The all you can eat buffet meal only costs around £10 per person which is well worth it. The drinks bump the price up a bit but to be fair you won't have much room for drinks with all the food you'll be having. The staff are really friendly and look after you. I think they put about an hour limit on your All you can eat to stop people staying there all day but you'll be surprised how much you can cram in in an hour. Well recommended. read more

With its industrial estate location, uninspiring brick exterior and dull, canteen-like décor, Palace Chine does not look like the sort of place that would offer an authentic Chinese dining experience, particularly when you consider you can get an all you can eat buffet and a beer for less than a tenner. However, these negative preconceptions only served to heighten my delight when I visited recently and found a buffet streets ahead of the usual boring budget fare. Both traditional and more unusual dishes are artfully displayed, inviting you to get stuck in and try things you wouldn't normally brave. The staff are also wonderfully courteous and helpful - when I asked a waitress which dishes were vegetarian she explained then dutifully stood by me to make sure I didn't accidentally pick up something unsuitable. As has been mentioned by a previous reviewer, the sauces are a particular treat, rich and dark with none of the cloying sweetness so commonly found in cheaper Chinese food. Palace Chine is a true hideaway that seems to never be full, no matter what time of day you visit. However, that being said, it is not due to the food, atmosphere or service. On the contrary it is more likely due to the fact that you cannot see it from the main road and there is little signage to inform passers-by that it even exists. This, it must be said is a strange marketing ploy considering the number of restaurants vying for custom. But while it continues to shroud itself it will remain that jewel that you sometimes find and always tell your friends and family about and in turn the custom that builds up often seems to be the best as it is word of mouth led. I have to say I am certain that the clientele that I have noticed on several occasions have been the same people from before. The food is exquisite and I would concur with a previous reviewer on that point. Were this located in the centre of Leeds or any other big city you wouldn't find the menu priced so affordably. Again, this would be a price tag that only the few could afford. What this gives the foodie is a small slice of genuine oriental food at a price, setting and atmosphere that is way ahead of what you would expect. I would dearly love to visit the other restaurants to compare and I guess when given the chance I will. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday evening for the buffet. It was about 7pm. The food was cold, the meat fatty, and the crispy beef was so 'crispy' it was impossible to bite through, or cut with a knife. In addition, supplies were low and the food that was left had skins on and was congealed. After a few mouthfuls we decided to leave. To his credit, the manager was very polite and agreed that we did not have to pay. Apparently the chef was ill and they did not have a replacement, leading me to believe that the food that was out was indeed old. I'm not sure if this was a typical dining experience, but I certainly will never be eating (or not eating!) there again. The decor was also grim, resembling a corridor with no natural light and cheap plastic furniture. read more

Well, we've just our first visit to Palace Chine in Kirkstall on fathers day 2011, after always eating at the Chinese Buffet in Leeds city centre, I was quite impressed, the décor was comfortable, though we found the tables too high, even more so for our younger children. The food was hot, a nice range, and had crispy duck, which was very nice, the restaurant was clean. The waiting staff really looked like they'd had a long day and didn't smile, and they didn't collect the plates, as often as they should, baring in mind you could go back as many times as you like and it ended up us having quite a few plates on the table while eating. We found the drinks a bit pricey but the food cheaper. Over all very happy with the visit, but blink and you'd miss it, being tucked away in the corner!! read more

Terrible tbh. It is cold, unappetising and typical western Chinese food. So basically, too salty, too greasy and full of msg. The staff are very pleasant, the tables need a decent clean down, everything you touch is covered in a film of grease. We ate here today and I wish I had gone into Leeds as this is really not a good place to visit. read more

I have been here many times at lunchtime and evenings. Palace Chine offers you to help yourself buffet of chinese food from soup, starters, main courses and puddings (including chinese apple fritters). Prices vary £5.95 lunch, £7.50 upto 6pm and then from 6pm £9.50. How can anyone complain about this!!!! Only avoid this if you don't want a buffet with the choice to eat what you want. As chinese is my favourite food it is great to go somewhere where you can just pick and choose your meal. read more

Have been to this restaurant before but disappointed then since the food selections were not many and the waiting staff were not very friendly. However I went there again this week and found out both the food selections and taste are better than before, and the new management team seemed quite helpful and happy to serve the customers; especially they asked the feedback about the food and etc., will definitely recommend to other people and visit again. read more

Without a doubt the worst Chinese buffet i have ever been to... After finally attracting the waiters attention away from his mobile phone, myself and my partner were shown to our table where i was greeted by a nice piece of chewing gum stuck to my seat. After the terrible start we thought the rest of our meal could only get better, ohh how i was wrong. The food selection was tiny and cold.. Every sauce on offer was as runny as tap water and the meat that went with it looked and tasted like it had stewed for weeks. In the time we were there the food wasn't changed or even looked at once by any the staff who were continuing to sit and play with there phones by the bar. When i approached the bar to pay (as no one had been to see us to offer drinks, take plates away or even ask us how our meal was) i was asked, 'yes?'. I asked for the bill.. Without saying a word the waitress then put a card machine on the desk and looked back at her phone. When i tried to explain that i hadn't been happy with my meal or service i was told to 'come again another time' and 'try again'. Very, very bad restaurant. I STRONGLY advise everyone NOT to go there.. Unless you want an overpriced meal that's both tasteless and inedible with appalling service. read more
