Aside from food, I know my bikinis. I'm a former Hawaiian Tropic a pageant queen who has traveled years as a bikini model (age 21-31). Now at the age of 37 I still never get tired of bikinis. Here is the thing, before the whole modest thing, Pakaloha was micro as they come being Brazilian influenced. My first time at Pakaloha was 10 years ago, and when I saw how tiny they were I was FOR SURE stoked. The less Tanlines the better. My recent experience (today), was just as amazing as a first. However I was surprised to see that there was a lot more modest options for people who are uncomfortable with wearing something as small as I enjoy. My choosing though went straight for the tiniest bottoms as always. They always have a wonderful array of colors. So many different colors and patterns to pick from. Chyan was the Bikini aficionado. She knew exactly how to size me and make sure that I found the bikini that fit and hugged the body that I had. You're not gonna find anyone as Bikini efficient as Chyan. While she doesn't look like a supermodel anymore, she still looks awesome for a woman who gave birth to two ten pound babies. I think she's a total hottie, so I took her to Pakaloha in Lahaina. Emily helped us out. Wife pointed out her "features" that might be less accentuated, and we looked at the different styles based on body types. The business guy in me notes that this is an amazingly women-centric business model -- start with fit, then worry about color. The designers found a dozen different cuts that fit bodies of different types. Anyway....yeah, the fits were great, and we settled on some flattering styles and colors after a few false starts. i was super stoked to wear this bikini i bought for about $105, which was totally fine because it was a small business and the actual fabric was good quality. The girl i talked to spoke very highly about these bikinis and that they would last forever. I wore it for the first time longboarding in small waves and noticed the seams already starting coming apart. I thought it was good and was going to hold, since i was told they last so long. I wore it about 2-3 more times in the same conditions and the bottom seam on the bottoms almost completely came off on the front and i can already tell the seam is starting to give way on my top. i'm just super disappointed because i have way cheaper bikinis that have lasted so much longer. I also had my friend go in and explain my situation to see if they just do seam repairs, especially since i only wore it a few times and already had an issue. She told me she was offered no solutions and was just told it was final sale and there's nothing we can do. The quality of the bikinis are still great the seams are just super weak. I won't be buying again due to that issue. read more

This store is a MUST every time I visit Maui! They have every color you can think of and tons of different styles to choose from. I own 3 bikinis from here that I have bought on different trips and the quality is amazing-they really last! Also for the great quality it really is adorable. Best bikini bottoms I've ever owned... they are literally great for any occasion. From laying around on the beach, to climbing lava rocks and jumping off cliffs. You can literally do anything in these swim suit bottoms. They also lift you butt. I recommend the hipster cheeky bottoms with the ties at each end. I didn't want to even look at the store. When we stopped by I fell in love how it looks. My hubby got me the purple Honolua Ruched bottom and paired it with berry blast bandeau on our first visit. We Went back the next day and I got a Puamana ruched bottom (berry blast) and paired it with hot pink Lanikai top and got a gray mermaid hat. I love how the bikini fits me. Ever since I gave birth to my first child, being in a bathing suit was almost always a humiliating, depressing, invalidating experience. My boobs changed to a much bigger size and finding the best, most flattering fit was impossible. I even paid a ton of money to have a custom swimsuit made to my measurements which was just them giving me one of they're already pre-made styles and sizes.
