And of course the main reason why we go buy our paint here is because of ther Harmony Line, it's water-based paint and low-odor with zero VOCs!!! Perfect for kids rooms or nurseries. Even during painting you barely smell any odor....I am using this paint for my entire House now. They also constantly have sales, last time I just bough myself an entire case of white and whenever I am ready to paint a room I go mix in the color.

So I've been spray painting for 20 years because I love it! But my current system has seen better…read moredays and my compressor is dying. So, I was talking with a neighbour who uses a Fuji spray system and based on the ease of set up and the excellent results I decided to check them out. I came across The Paint People and found the unit I was looking for (Mini-Mite 4 PLATINUM™ Model with GXPC Side Mount Gravity Feed) and they were several hundred dollars cheaper than any other providers. In addition they had all five of the additional items that I needed all in one place - excellent! As I am way out-of-town I was concerned about support. However, they answered all of my questions and concerns in a very professional manner. The website was easy to navigate and placing an order was a breeze. Everything arrived in excellent shape and on time as they promised. The team was quick to follow up after the order was processed in the event that I had any questions. These guys are the best!

I'm thinking of doing some house painting, so I just stopped by to pick up some paint chips. (I've already done this previously at Home Depot and it's just a different environment.) This place is set-up like a design centre and you can basically pick up all the nuts 'n bolts that you'd need to do some painting. I've heard good things about Benjamin Moore and YES, it's more expensive than Behr. However, according to the stuff that I've read, it's thicker, so you don't need as much paint. A small tester (1 pint) can was $10. Fellow there was helpful and answered all my questions. I'll update if I decide to go the BM route!

We picked up some BM Regal paint for our walls and some BM Aura paint for the trim along with some brushes, rollers, trays, tarps etc.. My wife ordered some automatic blinds that took less than a week to come in that changed the whole look of our windows. Chris and Patricia are a great team and really did a wonderful job ensuring our project went well. The entire time we felt like we were in good hands. I went to the Benjamin Store on Langstaff (near Weston Rd) and the same can was $11....and at the Benjamin Moore store on Bathurst near Major Mac they were $8.99. Huge savings here. Access Ito the lot when driving east on Steeles is odd (as its a curved entrance for those people travelling west), but further down there's another entrance. The staff members I've interacted with have been stellar...from the consultant who works in the paint section to the staff at the counters...all have customer skills down pat. This is now my preferred location to purchase paint.

The TJ Maxx line of stores have always fascinated me…read more The three brands - WInners, Homesense and Marshall's - have made their trade in being a glorified clearance store for many low and mid-range brands, and this location in Clarkson is no exception. I'd argue that it's the perfect fit for the Clarkson community, as it accurately sums the sleepy, docile nature of the community. I ended up coming here to kill a few hours and get in on some late Boxing Day shopping after the New Year, and was extremely surprised to find that half the store was on clearance. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that a good 40-50% of the goods on sale were either marked with tags or set up on "Clearance" endcaps, which was extremely amusing considering there was SO MUCH of it still on display. $2 packs of PUR gum, dirt-cheap Christmas and designer decorations, all sorts of weird food items for pennies on the dollar... makes the mind boggle with how much product is back there that they struggle to sell it all even with 80-90% discounts. One thing I'll definitely give the store credit for is that it's generally very quiet, the service is prompt, and you're generally bound to find something you want, whether it's a weird knick-knack or a book that interests you. In the end, we ended up buying a bunch of themed Christmas foods (including peppermint bark coffee liqueur and chocolate candy-cane shaped shortbread cookies), along with some odds and ends. I find I like visiting here every time in the area. Despite it's similar layout and product offerings as Winners (take out the men's/women's fashion and you have Homesense), the service and selection put it a cut above. Definitely a worthwhile anchor store in Clarkson Village Plaza.

Size-wise, this Homesense was not as impressive as the ones that I've been to at Bathurst/Centre (Thornhill) or even Vaughan Mills. It's on the smaller size, HOWEVER, the benefit is that it's waaay quieter than those other locations. Actually, it's probably even quieter than any Winners that I've been to! The location definitely has a part to play in that "been transported back in time" feeling. There's no sense of urgency or rush, just relaxation. I had a question about what was included in a package of bedding - it wasn't stated on the label - and the sales associate, who was doing something else at the time, actually went to another associate to find out for me. Who does that nowadays? If I were in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to stop here 'cause I don't like shopping in crowded places.
