Three Stars -- Only Because My Family Made It Fun…read more My family of eight did our best to make this an enjoyable outing, and honestly, we are the reason it ended up being fun at all. The concept of an "epic game show experience" is there, but the execution really misses the mark. When you walk in, the entire setup is basically right at the door. The waiting/lounge area sits in the middle, and the adults-only game show is in the back--right next to the bathrooms. This layout became a big distraction. While we were playing, multiple people walked in and stood right beside us as the host kept going. A manager even came out to explain the experience to them while we were trying to hear our host. We played Family Feud for about 30 minutes, which felt at least 15 minutes too long. Our family still had fun, but that's because we enjoy games and can make anything entertaining at home. The setup itself felt very cheap. "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" lasted about 10 minutes with questions that didn't feel well thought out. "The Price Is Right" involved sorting Walgreens items into piles. Then we did flip‑cup tic‑tac‑toe on a fold‑out table with duct tape lines. The biggest issue is the host. I don't want to be rude, but he just wasn't very good, and that really matters in an experience like this. Overall, this felt like a low-budget setup with a halfhearted attempt at creating a game show atmosphere. My family made the best of it, but the experience itself needs major improvement.

Awesome experience -- I love an activity and AR Workshop certainly delivers on this!…read more I have seen people post their projects on social media in the past and was always curious how a group of people could make so many different projects, each one be completely unique but also look nearly perfect. Now that I've experienced a session, I understand and am amazed at how fool-proof they have made the process! I had mentioned to my sister-in-law that I wanted to make a sign for my front door and she clearly banked that thought, because I was thrilled to open a gift card to make a sign as my Christmas gift from her (btw AWESOME gift!). We checked the class calendar and booked a session where we could both make items we were interested in. From start to finish it took about 2.5 hours but the time went by quickly because you are busy working on your piece throughout. With so many options, I'm already trying to plan my next project and will bring my creative husband as they have some great items for men to make as well (and children if you have kids!). They also have a punch card -- pay for 5 visits and the 6th is on them!

When we got to the workshop, they were so welcoming and organized. Everything was set up for us and ready to go. They showed us around the work station and chatted with us as we set up our snacks and drinks. While we were working, they circulated around the room and offered help, advice, and encouragement along the way. There were a lot of people doing a lot of different projects, but they were always one step ahead of each of us, anticipating what materials we would need for the next step, and bringing them to us before we even needed them. They offered their thoughts on paint colors, too. When we were done, they were happy to take lots of photos for our group. I loved the environment and the people at the workshop, and were already planning another trip back around the holidays to make some Christmas presents! I can't wait to get back!

The artist was Silvia Belviso Blair and I was informed that she provides private art lessons. Relatively new to the world of painting and stuck on a particular commission piece, I signed up for a class from Silvia. I was not disappointed. She is fantastic. In the hour that she spent with me, I learned so many useful tips that I continue to use on a very regular basis. She is patient, thoughtful with her instruction, and just a very talented artist. I decided to take an oil painting class from Silvia shortly thereafter. Having just moved, it was so nice to have the two locations (Mt. Pleasant and West Ashley) to choose from. Once again, Silvia's instruction did not disappoint and I have now transitioned from using mostly acrylics to working mostly in oils now. The classes were mellow and my fellow classmates were a lot of fun - so much so that nobody paid attention to the time and Silvia was gracious enough to let us stay past our designated hour and a half if we chose to. The classes range from beginner/basic to very unique and I can't wait to explore them further. If you have a creative itch, I highly recommend the Blair Center!

Not only is Ms. Pidgeon a consummate professional, she is a genuinely good person who brings light and laughter to the teaching and learning process. Her comments, critiques, and suggestions are invaluable and have helped me to create art I am proud of. Ms. Pidgeon is an endlessly patient instructor who allows individuals of diverse ages and abilities to develop at their own pace and find the style that is best for them. During each lesson, Susan talks out loud about what the student is learning and why. This is a critical component for me. The instruction is seamlessly blended into working on a painting of my choice. Susan listens carefully to my comments, and that is the all important part of excellent communication and teaching. Ms. Pidgeon gives me confidence to experiment and try new approaches. I appreciate that she gives thoughtful answers to my many questions. One of her favorite expressions is, "There are no art police here." I love that attitude and the fact that it is always possible to improve an acrylic painting using Ms. Pidgeon's techniques. I have also mastered some of he basics of working in oil and how to use mixed media. I continue to explore these mediums, knowing that Susan is a veritable fountain of knowledge. Recently, I learned how to use molding paste to create action and depth in one of my more modern paintings. And in the midst of all the learning and experimenting, I have had fun. I look forward to each new week and the joy I feel. I know I am in the hands of a competent, caring professional who delights in the progress I have made and encourages me to move forward in new and exciting ways.
