Upon entering there is this alcove of running water pond surrounded by healthy indoor plants some large, tall ones! Another door leads into the main area with all different things: fireplace bench, religious statues, paintings, jewelry, plates, tea cups, the list goes on and on. Some are reasonably priced. They didn't have rosaries which were my object of interest! Ladies there were busy talking to a couple who were from Chesapeake VA who were interested in selling their items; I wasn't even greeted until I was leaving.

Wow, I've always seen this place when in town but haven't actually made it down the street and…read morestepped inside. Today I did and I'm so glad. I spoke to the very friendly staff (who I believe are mostly volunteer) and they showed me the back rooms down the hallway toward the craft/class space where the resident artists have their spaces full of art or jewelry or crafts such as tie-dyed scarves, earrings, necklaces, canvas art and much more. One of the resident artists is named Stephanie Faleski and she is amazing - really - she does custom pet portraits but she's very talents and does lifelike artist renderings of anything. I was very impressed with her work. These resident artists, and others, come and teach and host classes in this space and there are lots of items available to purchase at any given time. The main entrance has two glass displays and they feature some local artist's work and sell them. They have a website and brochure listing upcoming events and classes. This is awesome! I love that Smithfield has such an active artist/craft community.

(We do live like 18 hours away) so due to my lack of spelling , and brain cells I proud to say iv seen the oldest ham in the world! (and peanut)

Even the ride there set the tone it was scenic & peaceful, and full of wide-open fields that felt like a refreshing change. It was the kind of drive that makes you slow down and just enjoy the moment. Once we arrived, the winery itself was stunning bold, beautiful. The wine selection was impressive, and I loved getting to explore different flavors. I figured out which wines I enjoy most, which ones aren't for me, and felt like I had a truly immersive first-time tasting experience. The staff at Summer Wind were amazing knowledgeable, friendly, and patient in answering my questions. Although I didn't get to order food this time, I saw plates coming out of the kitchen that looked absolutely delicious, so that's definitely on my list for next visit. I enjoyed myself so much that I'd love to make this a yearly tradition around this time of year. Summer Wind Winery gave me not just great wine, but a great memory, and I'll absolutely be back.
