It was my dream to one day be on the Tournament of Pizza judging panel. Achievement unlocked. Since then, I have been involved with the local website in a variety of ways. Beyond serving as a pizza judge, I've helped them evaluate Super Bowl cupcakes. For a while I was their area supermarket grand opening correspondent. I had my turn helming the Eat This feature. And perhaps my magnum opus was The Best Dozen series. Now that I'm Yelp Albany's community Ambassador, I've stopped writing for the site. But I still make it a point to engage with this amazing community as much as I can. This year Ric Orlando was back in charge of the food with his New World Catering operation, and everything was delicious. There were cupcakes. DJ Trumastr. And all of the sights and sounds of Troy's Center of Gravity. I met new people and caught up with old friends. It's a party that I never want to end. But eventually, we all have to get home. Best wishes for another great year. I'm already looking forward to AOA9.

She didn't ask me anything about myself at first, so that she wouldn't be biased when she did the reading. But afterward we discussed the cards, and she listened to me with so much empathy and insight. And I loved the poem that synthesized the reading and our talk. I did this sort of on a whim but it turned out to be a valuable experience.

I thought about 2 questions that intertwined with one another as i shuffled the deck before handing the cards over to them. I kept my questions within myself. Flipping each card and explaining the placement and each picture's meaning( ex: the hermit, time w self to gain clarity) the answers seemed to unfold right before my eyes! The reading felt open minded and v focused on my needs. It was therapeutic to say the least. N's choice of words and focus made me feel as if i was a star/ sun. In this sometimes dark world its helpful to have someone like N showing me my potential to clear my own path! Thank you!!!!

We ended up spending more time than anticipated because of the sheer amount of quirky gifts, quality art supplies, and a lovely hat selection. Had we had more time, we would've gotten upstairs to check out the art gallery upstairs. Their postcard selection features works from local artists. Overall, many of products seemed to be of good quality, well-curated, and thought out. There's a sense of rich history in this store. I hope to come back another time.

Later, my 11-year-old picked up a marble -- a marble! -- to show me, and she ran halfway through the store to tell him not to touch it. I told her that it's crazy to treat customers like that, especially when the store has at least two aisles of toys, some of them stored in bins that necessitate touching! I immediately set down about $20 worth of merchandise we'd planned to buy and left the store. I ended up buying it all from Amazon for about half the price I would have paid in this unwelcoming place that seems like a soon-to-be-extinct relic.
