All of the DJs are volunteers and work on their own free time, without pay. I visited the studio last week during their radiothon and was pleasantly surprised with the shows J-Magic's Jambalaya (Where the Guitar is the Star) and Spoonful of Blues. Their commitment to providing free radio (ie free of commercials/ads) is really awesome and they are even available streaming online at www.valleyfreeradio.org. I listen on Tuesday nights, when the above mentioned programs are airing. I hope that VFR continues to be on the airwaves for years to come.

We were on motorcycles so we had the advantage of being able to go all the way up to the top viewing site (rather than parking and taking the shuttle). There are 3 vantage points along the way to the top. The first one is good, 2nd is amazing, and the 3rd is slightly blocked by trees and shrubs. The top of the mountain is beautiful. Stand up on the rocks for an amazing view!
