Completely disorganized and lack of communication within the office. 1st visit I had with them back in October. Came in for tooth pain knowing that I'd most likely need it to be pulled. The doctor who came in to assess in, told me I should get a root canal because you can see it when I smile. Even though I said I didn't care and just need pain relief and would be fine with pulling it. He insisted on the root canal. I just went along with that because he obviously knows better than me. They send me up front get that scheduled, then they didn't have anything until Jan/feb in this office, but said they'd look into the Detroit office. (2 hours away, but I was okay if it got me in sooner.) They couldn't get into the Detroit office appointment calendar right then and told me they'd call. I didnt hear anything for a week. So I called and was never connected with anyone. 2nd visit in December , started off in the main office and then had to be taken to a waiting room across the hall. Finally after 20+ minutes of waiting, taken back for X-rays. The Tech (Rayna) was great. Then a doctor comes back to talk to me, gave her the same story from the 1st visit. Tooth ache, would rather just pull it but again insisted on root canal. I said I'd do that, if there was availability within the month. There was, so I was happy, ready to be done with this. Now yesterday (the day before my appointment) someone called from office " the doctor was looking over his case load and thinks you need to see a specialist because of where your roots are ." After that I'm done. This is something that should've been told to me prior to yesterday. Now I have to find a new dentist and probably wait another month to be seen. read more

WORST dental experience ever. The clinicians are excellent. They are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The office staff, however, doesn't have a clue. I have been waiting for over a year to get a simple procedure and each time I arrive I am told that they don't have prior authorization. Yet, I have proof of prior authorization. I am in a wheelchair and don't drive so making the 20 mile one way trip in to be told that I need to be rescheduled is beyond irritating. I have been promised by office managers that "things are getting better" but here I sit, one year later without the procedure completed. I have gone elsewhere for my dental care. They return calls 36-48 hours. Poor customer service. When you are at the front desk to check in there is 1- 2 receptionists and 3 other staff members chatting away while completely ignoring you. Not even an acknowledgment until they're done with their personal conversation. The male dental hygienist was so loud there was no HIPPA compliance at all. The Dr. Allison was so rude. I needed a cleaning and I had a painful tooth. They told me that I needed five teeth pulled that I had no intention of pulling. Except the one that was very bad and painful. So I went in for the cleaning and the tooth pulling at the same time. It was known and I told several different people this tooth hurts and pointed at it over and over especially the person that was prepping me. I was given a lot of lidocaine front and back I have to words I said I think you pulled the wrong tooth and they said no he didn't it was 15. Whatever that meant. So I trusted them and went home. I could not feel anything for hours and when I felt something I realized it was the wrong tooth that was pulled that I had no intention on getting pulled there was nothing wrong with it that I could see or feel. They don't ever answer their phone it always goes right to voicemail. So I had to drive in there again because they don't ever answer their phone and told them that they pulled the wrong tooth. They denied pulling the wrong tooth. I said I kept pointing at this tooth and telling you it was this tooth and you can clearly see there's something wrong with this tooth. He said well the other one needed to come out too. I said let me see the x-ray. It looked fine to me the other one had a bunch of white stuff all over on the x-ray whatever that meant I don't know. But it felt fine. Anyway they pulled out the wrong tooth. Now I have no back tooth to chew with. Do not go here. This place is horrible. Where to start .... The only thing they do well are cleanings. My husband has had to have crowns redone several times because they were done poorly. He had a cracked tooth clearly evident on an X-ray but was sent to a specialist because the dentist couldn't see anything Is in the process of getting an implant, they've made no attempt at explains the process, his gap is actually closing in because they didn't set his temp tooth in place correctly. Twice the staff have "scheduled" him for the final process and twice he's been told nothing was scheduled. He finally blew up at the receptionist. She never apologized for what happened and berated him for being upset that his appointments didn't exist. Not only that, the only doctor he is allowed to see cut his hours severely and it will take another month to get an appointment. Poor dental work, poor customer service. However, when I arrived, I was informed that the doctor was not available, and my filling couldn't be performed. I was then forced to schedule yet another appointment. Unfortunately, my troubles didn't end there. A week later, I received a call notifying me that my appointment was canceled due to insurance issues. I rescheduled, only to face the same issue a couple of weeks later when they called to cancel yet again, claiming my insurance had not approved the procedure. Frustrated, I contacted my insurance provider, only to find out that they had no record of Painless Dentistry submitting a prior authorization request. After a three-way call with my insurance and their office, it became clear that Painless Dentistry had miscommunicated, claiming they submitted my request just the night before, despite earlier telling me they did it weeks ago. When I called their office directly to address this mix-up, the receptionist seemed completely unaware of my situation and even struggled to find my x-rays. To my dismay, they also attempted to discuss a quoting out a bridge that I had already received, which felt particularly disrespectful given my circumstances. Her demeanor was poor, and she had no idea why my records indicated nothing but a bridge quote out. Fast forward to late August, and I was cautiously optimistic about my next appointment scheduled for September 5. However, just yesterday, I received another cancellation due to ongoing issues with my prior authorization. The receptionist casually informed me that it could take up to three weeks to get a response from the insurance--a fact that only adds to my frustration. At this point, I insisted on speaking with an office manager to discuss my ongoing issues. The lack of communication, combined with feeling like an inconvenience rather than a valued patient, left me incredibly disappointed. Overall, my experiences with Painless Dentistry have been frustrating and poorly managed. The combination of being repeatedly canceled on, the confusing insurance process, and the lack of organized communication has soured my experience. A complete scam. They lied to me and told me that my insurance would cover everything, just to charge me over $4500 out of pocket. Be careful to look at your bill statements this company is known for lying, and charging patients for treatments that were not done. I thought my visa card was lost only to find out dental billing receptionist had it. When I asked her the first time she said it was not at the dentist office. I found out days later I was overcharged several of times for the same treatment. Then the dental billing receptionist calls me, to tell me she found my visa card. The customer service is awful. Be prepared for calls not to be answered. I would not recommend this place to no one. read more

The people at painless dentistry must have some sort of personality other than being rude, since they came up with this ironic name. I totally recommend coming here if you enjoy: getting yelled at by a dentist who has a needle in your mouth, being left unattended for an hour, getting ripped off, having your mouth numbing (for surgery!) botched, and paying extra for nitrous oxide they don't even bother to give you! Not even 1 star for me. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS how they do clients! And they are not courteous AT ALL! I work so sometimes it's hard to make my appointments. First off they don't answer the phone. I had a reference from a friend that a good doctor just started working there. After three visits, my doctor was unavailable. I went ahead with the cleaning and they found work to be done. After three visits trying to see my original doctor and refusing anything but cleaning, they finally admitted my doctor left over a year ago. She took extra time to address my concerns and made sure the dentist was aware as well. She also did a great job with sanitation. I had two extractions,very painful. was told i would get pain meds at pharmacy. go to pharmacy no pain meds. call the office explain to the staff i am at pharmacy and no prescription. i was told oh the doctor is not answering his page it will be a few. me oh ok i am in a lot of pain you told me i would be getting meds for pain. staff tells me to take motrin and call back. i waited and hour at pharmacy. no call back nothing. so i call them back and then was told the doctor is not answering were really sorry no pain meds for you just keep taking motirin. i said what about doctor that did the extraction. oh she doesnt write prescriptions and in the same breath asked me if i would like an 800 motrin script called in. When asking questions regarding the procedure never would receive the same answer, it was as if no one knew what was going on. The front desk staff was very welcoming, Beth cleaned my teeth and used a special instrument to clean around my implants. My teeth looked brighter at finish than start, and though I usually need to be numb for cleanings I wasn't and I was very comfortable. Dr. K did my exam and he was thorough and spoke highly of the specialist they have who does implants, stating he would send his own mother to him. I met the office manager Roberta on my way out and she was very nice. The cost was reasonable (I don't have insurance) and overall a good value. read more

Sooooo been at this office since I was a kid and it was owned by Robert Elliot. I have been nice and trying to work with them before taking legal action but they are horrible. They have messed up on my soooo many times!! Like seriously even given me medicine I'm allergic to and my allergy is on file. They have had to re do an implant 2"twice due to their own errors and now I have 2 route canals that have to be completely redone by a true professional. They have high doctor turn over with new doctors each time you visit and the last doctor I seen there reviewed my x rays and was furious at the horrible work the did. At this time I now have to have 2 re-do on a job they were pain in full for. My total cost is 2,400$ and I will not let this go until they take care of this and make me whole. Now on tot complain to the attorney general, better business bureau, and consumer protection Agency. You can not treat and service patients in this way and I'm not letting this go. Well for a teeth cleaning they took all of 15 min i think. all polishing no scaling, to me that isnt a good thing and the teeth cleaner was telling me they got the job because the friend is the manager. I would say dont go to them I am getting a crown right now sadly and they called me after I just got done paying them 430 and my insurance paid more then 900 bucks and they send me a bill for 56. this place is a joke i should have known with their cheesy sign not to go. read more

They couldn't contact me? I fill out all the paperwork in the office and hand it to them before scheduling the appointments for me, my wife and my son. While scheduling we moved around the group of appointments to find what works best. I go in for the appointment two weeks latter and the receptionist is rude and keeps changing her story. "There's no appointment for you", "No, wait, we couldn't contact you", "Your late for the appointment" (had move it back from an earlier original time, while doing the orginal scheduling). "Oh, you forgot your insurance card", and she pulls it out of the desk drawer, not from a patient file or some secure place, just with the rest of her pens and paper clips. When I asked her why she couldn't contact me when I filled out all the paperwork with contact, SSN, and medical history 2 weeks ago, her only anwser was it not in the system. She couldn't anwser where my information was now, why it was never enter over the 2 weeks. After getting the run around for several minutes, I became upset and she demanded that I leave. this is the worst dentist around.. their commercials are gimmicks and lies.. you only see dr west for the consultation then your left to whoever else he has working.. they do not care if you are in pain.. I was in pain at every visit and had swollen gums which they never did anything for when I complained it was always that's normal.. my work was supposed to take a month and took 7 months. do not go here you pay high prices for poor work they do not care about their patients just want their money.. I paid $3800 for work and an additional $1000 for gold to be put around 2 teeth and whoever they sent the gold too could not do it correctly after 5 attempts I was left to settle for one without any gold and now they refuse to give the money back for the gold that was never put on... add to this post if you had a bad experience here we can try to get a class action lawsuit against painless dentistry and dr. west... read more
