After doing countless hours of research, my better half choose this hotel and I could be more happy…read morethat she did. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted by friendly faces and made us feel welcomed. And after a 10 hour flight and having to wait for our car service it was greatly appreciated. They offered to take our bags to our room which was nice too. The hotel is stunning as from the front it looked small as the elevators to the rooms is right there to the right when you enter but when you turn to the left where check in is, it opens up to grandeur. It felt like we were in a movie. Maybe because I watched Crazy Rich Asians on the plane. Haha but it is really nice and open. There was also a restaurant that we didn't have a chance to eat at but maybe when we come back from Melbourne. After we checked in and went to our room, the bellman was telling us things about the hotel. I swear he looks like the guy on the hotel page on the TV. In fact I'm sure of it. He is a wealth of knowledge and very friendly. They have a rooftop bar that has a nice view of the city. The pool is more like. Lap pool type which is fine by us. You can grab towels over there as well. So grab a drink, watch the sunset and soak it all in. The rooms are big. The air-conditioning works really well. There is no drips or slow draining water. We had a walk in shower and it was big. So big you could throw a small party in it. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and we didn't hear any street noise at all either. Only downer but might have been good is that our windows were frosted so we couldn't see out. But hey who cares as people can't see in either. You know how most hotels use the cheapest soaps, shampoo and conditioners? I know you do. This hotel has and I can't believe I'm writing about it but they use really good stuff here. The soap doesn't dry your hands out and the shampoo and conditioner is awesome. They even have slippers and bathrobes. There is a mini fridge and safe which we used. The hotel is a short 8-10 minute walk to Central Rail Station. Very nice and convenient place, easily 5 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was, given that I'd booked it on the Chase…read moretravelers website with points and had no idea what it actually cost. I'd walked past the entrance prior to checking in but didn't pay it any notice as it is hidden under construction awning. However, do not judge a book by its cover, because the lobby and foyer is gorgeous and expansive. I also didn't realize how popular the rooftop bar of this hotel (Level 7) was! I wish I had known sooner, because I would have definitely spent more time checking out the hotel amenities rather than napping in my room. My room was decent sized. The person who checked me in claimed that they had upgraded me to a larger room..not sure how much smaller the rooms could get to be honest. There was a fancy nespresso machine in the room along with the usual amenities, and some pretty nice toiletries. My only gripe was that my toilet was literally pulling the wall down with it - I'm pretty sure a heavier person will take it down with them one day.. The gym is tiny and in the basement, but there is a fridge full of water bottles for patrons.

We stayed on a high floor, great views of darling harbour, room is huge compared to a lot of other hotels in sydney, clean and comfortable. Beds are really cosy too. The location is very central with nearby shops all around. Staff were professional and friendly I'm happy to come back again and would recommend this place as great value for money.

We used my room for a number of meetings which worked out great, except... for the catering. Both their in-room dining and catering services left much to be desired. For dinner one night I wasn't feeling well so I stayed in and ordered a burger, it was a sad rendition of the American classic. Also when they'd catered our coffee one morning they brought us a large French press, enough for 3-4 cups, fine for one person, but our group of 10 looked like they might attack if we didn't get a quick refill... which came 20 minutes later.

As it was my first time to Sydney I also appreciated the help from reception to find my way around town, they explained public transport options and were always there when our family needed anything. We accidentally forgot to bring a luggage piece when checking out. I informed the management staff who assured me they'd do everything to find the luggage and have it returned to us. The rooms are state of the art with large flatscreen TVs and a lot of options to watch. Cleanliness was superior to other hotels in the same price class. Overall I'd only suggest that the checkout times can be improved, we had to wait in line for 10-15 minutes but I suppose that can happen. Thanks for a great stay @Novotel Sydney :)

Price was reasonable, but everything about the hotel was pretty sub-par or below. Rooms were a good size and beds were comfortable. I noticed that the hallways are pretty dated and could use some up keeping. The carpets were all lined with dust on the edges which is pretty gross; it wouldn't hurt to steam clean the carpet every once in awhile. The elevators were quite annoying; extremely slow and one was always broken. Average wait time for an elevator is about 15 minutes. I had the breakfast buffet one day and it was pretty average, your standard eggs and sausage. The next day I ordered eggs Benedict which I'm not sure how they make their hollandaise sauce but it was like eating pure mayo. I would suggest skipping meals a this hotel and just go to a nearby cafe/restaurant (which there was plenty of).

Since check in everyone in the lobby has also been really friendly and nice but none as personable as Sam. She made us feel like she was our personal concierge. The room is amazing!! I want to live there. The decor is very stylish and high end. The room is large and lots of tech features. You can control most everything in the room from the phone by the bed. There's an iPad with hotel info and Netflix you can air play to an Apple TV. We had a bit of trouble with the wifi dropping out every so often which was a bit annoying but whatever. Our room had a really nice bathtub that seperated the bathroom from the rest of the room so you can sit in the tub drink champagne and watch Netflix!! I dropped a star because we did not have a lot of luck with the restaurants. As a guest in the hotel they encourage you to eat in their restaurants by offering a bit of vip perks. The first we tried was Establisment bar. We stopped in for a light afternoon snack and some champagne. When you order food you have to pick it up yourself and the prices don't support this type of service. A burger was $20. The bartenders didn't really seem like they wanted to serve us either. We weren't dressed in suits like the rest of the clientele, we felt a bit profiled. We actually felt the profiling happened a lot but weirdly it was mostly by female servers, almost if they thought it was part of their job description to be catty. I strongly believe that women should stick together and be supportive of one another, so this behavior was a bit disappointing. After we finished we left and went to Palmer & Co, their food menu was better and we wished we had eaten there instead but their drinks were super expensive (I guess that's Sydney for you, $20 a drink). The service we received at Palmer & Co was much better. The following morning we had breakfast in the Garden which was good and our server was ok but she wasn't very friendly. Our next Establishment restaurant experience was at Tank Stream Bar and the woman who served us was super unfriendly. She even charged my partner for his wine separately and then turned to me and said "So, how are you going to pay" in a tone that was almost like she didn't think I could pay. I don't even know what that was about. Finally our last restaurant experience was at Mr. Wong's from the moment we walked in the hostess treated us kind shitty. She was going to seat us at this really horrible table in a hall way. I asked if we could have a better table and she said we could wait at the bar for a better table. I told her we had a reservation and we shouldn't have to wait. She then asked if we were guest of the hotel and since we were sat us at an extremely better table. I felt a bit profiled here too. The wine server was also not very friendly although we could hear her chat it up and be super friendly to tables around us, coincidentally she barely came by to refill our wine. On the other hand our sever (who was male) so nice and helpful. He gave us plenty of recommendations and even did his best to make special accommodations for us. In spite of this the food at Mr. Wong's was amazing and surprisingly authentic. TL;DR Stay at this hotel!! You won't regret it. It's the #1 hotel in Sydney for a reason. Don't eat at the restaurants their a bit overrated.

The food prepared for morning and afternoon tea ranged from amazing to a bit meh. The buffet lunch was the same. As it was granted free of charge as part of the work training I wasn't going to complain but for the $20 it is normally, I wouldn't pay (same for breakfast). It had a few standout dishes (Caesar salad, butter chicken) but some were pretty average and given the variety on the street I would probably go for a walk. The one main downside was the coke always tasted flat which could have been a result of the juicer it's served in. Definitely not a bad place to stay. Didn't really get the chance to check out the facilities as it was cold and work took up most of my time.
