I got them donuts one morning and then ice cold beers on their last day as it was super hot while they worked. My issue was when I discovered weeks later that 1) my water bill was astronomical and 2) upon initial inspection I found a gusher on the side where the French drain was repaired. I called him back out to fix it and later discovered after he left that he probably initially caused the gusher during the repair process which I am guessing turned into a much bigger job than he originally anticipated. He suggested that the whole side yard get re-done and we agreed to a later date as I planned to hire him again because I was satisfied with the first job. Curious after he left, my bf and I went and dug up the side drip system and surprisingly found some janky fix it job with compression fittings, T and elbow adaptors, and barbed drip couplings that were not there prior. In fact I paid a little extra on the original job knowing that the French drain was a pain to fix. I contacted Richar and told him of my discovery and he did not respond to my text but it was marked a read. In fact he arrived and brought out a bag of barbed drip couplings right away which I later put together that he already knew what the job needed before even seeing it because he caused it. Richar: if you would like to make this right with me text me and I would be willing to hear you out and consider taking this review down pending outcome.

He was pleasant, polite, and up-front about how his team could handle our yard, which was a disaster zone of five-foot-tall weeds and a million foxtails. That weekend he brought the work team out and walked them through the site, listing the tasks exactly as we'd agreed on. Phil and his son were amazing! They not only did everything on the list, but worked so quickly that they were able to mow an extra planting bed without running over on the quoted time. They also showed consideration for our dogs' well-being by raking up all of the clippings from the dog yard (lots of foxtail grass) and piling them right where I wanted them. Updated review (11/16/18): New lawn has settled in after 3…read moremonths and in starting to notice the issues. The front lawn was not leveled out, resulting in patches of taller grass and lower grass. I have attached photos to show what I am talking about. In addition, Jose left an exposed drain pipe. When I showed it to a friend of mine, he explained that I needed to buy a drain cover and elbow pipe, then dig a hole to borrow the drain pipe. When I asked Jose what this pipe was he said he didn't know. There is no way an experienced landscaper would not know. He could have charged me a little bit more to take care of the pipe instead of just leaving it there. Very disappointed in the lack of follow up and quality deficiencies. Jose has not reached out to me since the job was completed.

I asked him to look at some things beyond my original request and he gave me some recommendations about how I could maximize my irrigation and save water. He and his crew showed up the next day and completed the work as promised. Unfortunately my dreams are bigger than my budget so the rest of the recommendations will have to wait until next month. Bottom line...I'm a single woman who has been taken advantage of by many "handymen". Francisco listened to my thoughts and concerns and guided me in the right direction.
