You need to try this. - Braised wild boar in barolo sauce with polenta: Also delicious, but overshadowed by the pork shank. - Panna cotta with strawberry sauce: Tasty but I wish they wouldn't serve it in a jar. Half the fun of panna cotta is watching it jiggle on the plate. Portions are huge; the pork shank alone could've fed two people easily. Prices are very reasonable. Instead of wine, they have a great beer selection on tap. My husband enjoyed two wonderful beers excellently recommended by our waiter. Between the warm welcoming vibe, medieval decor, friendly staff, and unique metal ambiance, my husband was ready to move in immediately! When that failed, we are not in good shape for climbing countless steps, we ended up back in Monterosso. I was ready for a gelato. I spotted Bar Centrale and made a beeline to get my prize for making it back to town. They offer several flavors, I got the lime flavored one. We arrived in Monterossa, tired, hungry, stinky and yet proud we had seen the breath taking views of the coast. We were meandering through town when a torrential downpour hit the streets. We quickly dove into the closest restaurant to escape the rain, dry off and get lunch. We had landed at Fast Bar. No research, no planning, just the first open restaurant with indoor seating! Fast Bar is an eclectic Germanish, bikers style bar with loud music and simple sandwiches and soups. Little did we know the sandwich combo hit the spot with great tastes and a safe refuge. It was a perfect spot to shelter from the rain. We ordered a fabulous Caesar salad that was nicely dressed and the Incubus sandwich on flatbread. The sandwich had ham, olive spread and mozzarella. The dishes were not fancy, but perfect for the situation. Fast Bar in Monterossa is simple, great value and has sandwiches with very good taste.
