Hungry & weary, we opted for the only tho f we could find open at 12:30am - a Viking/heavy metal bar with food- sigh. Surprise - the food is excellent, the beer is excellent, the service is excellent. My wife & I both had the wild boar stew served on a bed of polenta- it was fantastic. If you are not very adventurous or if you are too old at heart to handle heavy metal music (I grew up on it in the 90's so it was like a trip back to my 20's) maybe it's not for you, but if like having fun & tend to find it wherever you are you will probably think it's very cool like I

If you have to pick one place to eat in La Spezia, make it this one. I'd go so far as say you…read moreshould venture out of Cinque Terre just to eat here. Don't let the metal music theme scare you off. This restaurant is filled with personality and served us the most satisfying dinner we had in Italy. We ordered: - Testaroli with pesto: So unique and tasty. The testaroli were perfectly chewy and perfect for soaking up their delicious pesto. When in Liguria, you have to eat pesto! - Pork shank with caramelized onions and porcini mashed potatoes: Oh my God. This was spectacular. Magical. Phenomenal. You need to try this. - Braised wild boar in barolo sauce with polenta: Also delicious, but overshadowed by the pork shank. - Panna cotta with strawberry sauce: Tasty but I wish they wouldn't serve it in a jar. Half the fun of panna cotta is watching it jiggle on the plate. Portions are huge; the pork shank alone could've fed two people easily. Prices are very reasonable. Instead of wine, they have a great beer selection on tap. My husband enjoyed two wonderful beers excellently recommended by our waiter. Between the warm welcoming vibe, medieval decor, friendly staff, and unique metal ambiance, my husband was ready to move in immediately! Looking around, everyone was so happy with their meals, and the energy was infectious. It's very popular with tourists and locals alike, so you need to make a reservation! We made ours by emailing them months before our trip, and they were very responsive. In short, eat here and get ready to enjoy one of the best meals of your life!

This was the very first restaurant we visited when we went to Lucca in March 2019 (my reviews a bit…read moredelayed!). It is a very short walk from the train station and one of the first restaurants you'll see with both indoor and outdoor seating. The day was absolutely beautiful (March 15) and Pierro was our server, he was very attentive and did a great job recommending dishes and wine to go with our meal. The Good: - We had the calzone which was piping hot, and perfectly cooked. We also got a salad with lettuce, black olives, prosciutto, cucumber, yellow peppers and parmesan...it was beyond fresh, even the veggies smelled like they had just been picked from the garden! - We paired this with the house red, which was delicious, my fiancee is not a wine drinker and he really enjoyed the taste (not too tart, not too sweet). The Not so Good: - Because it is a stones throw from the train station prices may be a bit higher than others, but the view is absolutely beautiful of the city and I recommend sitting outside if you do go to take advantage. Extra extra special thank you Pierro for taking pictures for us....we ended up getting engaged at the very restaurant with Pierro as our personal photographer (he did an amazing job!) so needless to say you have two lifetime customers in myself and my fiancee! We hope to see you very soon!! With love from Toronto, Canada.

We selected a seat outside, facing the carousel and wall, and were promptly served. We picked a salad and a pizza and I got a glad of sparkling wine while hubby got a beer. It was so nice sitting outside watching the world go by in Lucca. Our pizza was fantastic! We picked Quattro stagione and added sausage and are soooo glad we did. The sausage was amazing! This pizza was really terrific and we ate every bite. Our salad was also good - I don't normally care for boiled eggs but the ones on this salad were tasty. It was a fresh salad and lived up to its name as a large salad - definitely one to split! It wasn't until I went inside that I realized this must be a place famous people patron due to the signed memorabilia lining the walls. I can see why - it's fantastic! Great service, fab prices, yummy food, delicious drinks, fantastic views - a perfect stop when in Lucca, whether biking or not!
