I've worked here for about 17 years, first as an aide and then as a teacher. I can honestly say that this is a wonderful school. The administration is very supportive to the teachers, the families and the students. We have so many wonderful support staff and resources including a school doctor, a school psychologist, a librarian, and a social worker. I am witness to the change the school has made since becoming a charter school over 15 years ago. We went from one of the lowest testing schools in the state to becoming one of the best in our area and comparable to that of the district. We have a separate site for transitional kindergarten and kindergarten, allowing us to focus on the needs of our early educational learners. I am proud to work at Pacoima Charter School. read more

Fantastic school! I have sent all three of my children here. As for Martha's previous post, I couldn't disagree more. Everyone I've ever encountered has been kind and professional. My child was being bullied and it was handled better than expected- with the school psychologist even making sure my child was ok. My guess is that either Martha's child was bullying someone or she just didn't get the outcome she wanted. read more

Pacoima Charter is a school that highly caters to its students and parents. They have a doctor who is there DAILY to keep students healthy and address any health issues parents are concerned about. There is also a full time social worker who offers counseling and attendance incentives to students in need. Thet have STEAM classes that include art, science, technology, and engineering. This elementary school is in the middle of a ninety five percent Hispanic neighborhood. While tutoring students here after school, I have to park along the streets where I feel rather uncomfortable but it is the only option. All i have to suggest is to park at your own risk! On top of that, this would not be on the list of schools that I would even think about for my child's education. Even as a grown up, I feel unsafe. read more

Pacoima Charter School has changed DRASTICALLY from what is use to be over the years. When I say change I'm referring to it in a very positive manner. The program is catered to the students by giving them all the tools necessary to put them in a position for success. I have to say, the SpEd department is a godsend for the children who struggle academically. Who ever is in charge in that department is an incredible and caring person. My experiences with Pacoima charter is being great my two older children attend this school and graduate from it, so far they are doing great in Education. Pacoima Charter are commited to give high quality education for children as well of Esl classes for parents, they also provide begore and after school program for working parents such as: Beyond the Bell , LA Best and YPI. This school has a Doctor & nurse in services every single day also, a Social worker. I love this school. Both of my children have attended Pacoima. from pre-k through 5th grade. The teachers here go above and beyond. There are many programs available. For example- robotics, art club, engineering, violin, YPI and LA's best. I am extremely pleased with the education my children have received. read more

So many memories growing up in this school and now bringing my daughter here. She recently had her preschool culmination with Ms Ponce' class. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher than her along with her assistant and ms carol. Also me genine! They are all amazing! Pacoima Enrichment Academy is an excellent school! I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to give my daughters quality education with two excellent teachers, Mrs. Tilghman and Mrs. Avelar. My daughters are thriving and achieving all of their goals because they had such a great foundation in learning in their classes. My daughters' kinder experience at PEA set them on a path to a life long love of learning. We are so appreciative to these teachers. They are very knowledgeable and experienced. All of the teachers at Pacoima Charter Elementary are wonderful to work with and very professional. I am also privileged to be a part of the kindergarten team. I have been teaching for 14 years going on 15. The school coordinator, Mrs. Arizon is very helpful to the children and parents from the teacher perspective and from a parent perspective. She takes the time to get to know each child and is so attentive to each and every one every day. She knows each child by name! I trust PEA with my children so will you. What Can I say!!?? We are the only school in this side of the San Fernando Valley that has made AYP. I have been here since 1998 and have never felt unsafe. People should really do their own research and make statements that are not only valid but true. One person's experience should not taint what we are doing here at this school. As a parent of Pacoima Charter I can truly say that the teachers are what makes this school. They go beyond what is expected of them. I have two children that attend and attended this school. They have learned so much because of all the different programs that they offer such as, robotics, engineering, vilion class, glee club, science club, kids cooking class, art club and much more. Some of the teachers in this school are worse then then the children when it comes to bullying...... The adults are suppose to protect the children from those who hurt thieir feelings..... I culminated from this school back in 2009 and I did not regret choosing this school. I only came here my 4th and 5th grade year, but I loved the experience nonetheless. The teachers/staff at this school seem to really interact with the students while also providing a quality education and fair discipline. The school offered a variety of after school programs, computer labs, a garden in which students can participate in landscaping, and a dedicated science teacher. The school also advocated health by getting students to participate in stretching before class started and had a very friendly Nurse. My mother was skeptical about this school at first because it's located right across the street from the projects, but I never felt unsafe at this school despite its location. I wish I would have gone to this school all my years of elementary and recommend it to anyone planning to enroll their child here. read more

I'm writing this review based solely on the secretaries of the main office and no others. These are the friendliest, most helpful, most professional bunch of school office secretaries I have ever met. My kids teachers at Pacoima are also great, frindly to me as a parent and they do show that they care for teaching my kids. I'm a parent who has had several children there. Twice I've taken my children out since I don't live in the area, but I always end up taking them back to Pacoima Charter Elementary mainly because of the office staff. Most of the contact parents have with people at their kids schools is with the staff in the offices and very rarely with the teachers. Everywhere else, the office staff are rude, unfeeling, unprofessional and they just don't seem to like kids that much. I've seen how well they treat my kids and other children, from caring for them, worrying about them, going over and above for them, as the male office manager just did when my younger son wore his older brother's pants and they kept falling off. According to my son who's in 2nd grade, the office manager gave him HIS own belt. The lady who recently took my re-enrollment packet helped me get a copy of my kindergartner's TB and physical exam by calling the school they were attending and insisting severl times since the other school didn't want to send them. To me, as a parent, details like this are what makes for great school staff. read more
