Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

Only open a couple of days a week - at the weekend - it serves quite reasonable food and fantastic beer - personally I love the absolution. The landlord is usually to be found drinking a bowl of tea in the bar by the fire with his whippets and reading the Telegraph. I wish it was my local great way to spend a Saturday lunchtime in the middle of a days walking! Be warned though it doesn't suit everyone though for the life of me don't know why!!

Popped in on the way back from a cold day out at Alton Towers…read more We got a lovely warm welcome, were quickly seated near a roaring fireplace and settled in for a great meal accompanied by some very well kept Hartington IPA. The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail. We'll definately be heading back soon (to the Royal Oak not Alton Towers, which is another story)!

During our visit we ate in the restaurant several times. The Fish n Chips were fabulous, very tasty and not greasy. The Toad in the Hole was another favorite and a new experience for this American. The Sunday Roast was second to none. The owners, Diane and Phil, are very hands on with their business and are delightful to speak with. When we are back in the area, I know where we will be staying.

A MUCH better price than the hotels right next to the airport, yet this hotel/pub is just minutes from the hotel. The room was large and the bathroom was so nice and updated! The cow art in the hallways was sooooo cute! I loved loved it! The pub service could have been more attentive, but we were a little impatient as we wanted to repack for the flight the next day. The food was good! My husband enjoyed his flatbread pizza. My gammon steak was incredibly salty, like way too salty. Free parking. Easy check in/out Good WiFi We are back in the UK in August and we're already booking our overnight stay at this hotel. We're looking forward to it. Who says that about their night before a long flight?

The anchor is a nice little pub just outside the village on Tideswell in Derbyshire. It's a…read moreRobinsons pub that sells some great beers like Old Tom and had a a few guest ales meaning it's not a bad choice for a proper pint if you found yourself down this neck of the woods. We only nipped in so didn't get the chance to stick around for the fodder but the menu consisted of some great classic British dishes and really seems to be aimed at a good mixture of locals and visitors. There's no food served on Mondays though and most places seem to shut down in this neck of the woods on a Monday (quite a few on Tues too) so make sure you have a back up plan! Some seating upstairs and quite a cavernous traditional, heavy on the wood setting inside - check it out!
