During the root canal procedure, he kept checking in with me to make sure I was doing ok and kept telling me that it was ok if I needed a break. He was just delightful! The front staff were also super friendly, they made sure to go over my insurance with me so I knew what I was getting in for and helped me file my claim as well. They don't direct bill but they do help you submit your claim. After the procedure, the doctor again asked me if I had any questions and made sure I was going home feeling comfortable. The next day, the staff called to follow up with me and make sure I was doing ok. They kept saying that if anything comes up, they would be there to help and that I shouldn't hesitate to call them. Really impressed with the way the treat their patients!

Dr. Hafezi's level of communication throughout my entire process with him was wonderful and he even helped me after hours in order to aid with an infection by calling in antibiotics. I would highly recommend Dr. Hafezi to anyone who is in need of a root canal as he makes any appointment/ scheduling and recovery as easy as it can be. In addition to Dr. Hafezi's professionalism and care, his team maintains this level of kindness and knowledge throughout their role at the front and within their hygienist duties. I've always felt comfortable at Vancouver Endontic Centre and that's in entirety due to Dr. Hafezi and his staff's efforts.

That said, when you're in pain, and it doesn't go away on it's own, and you've maxed out on OTC pain meds for weeks, it's time to get the source of the pain addressed by a professional. And my terrific dentist referred me to this practice and, specifically, Dr. Ektefaie here, saying this is where he himself goes for endodontal work. So that was quite an endorsement for me! This place was great. No surprises, and lots of patience with me (I am a bit phobic of dentists. Yes, I AM a woos, stemming from a horrid experience as a child with a Marathon Man-esque dentist. But I digress...). I visited here twice: once, for a diagnosis/evaluation, and then again, days later for the actual procedure. I was lucky they were able to work me in the schedule so soon after the eval. And Dr. Ektefaie and his assistants were really super, taking the time to explain everything to me, showing me the x-rays and going over the situation (I like that I was included in the whole process and all various options and potential issues were discussed clearly to me. Made me feel like I was in control here and part of the team). I also appreciated that all costs were disclosed upfront. Again, I don't like surprises and here, there were none. The procedure was as painless as possible (surprisingly), and the pain I had lived with for the past month was gone! (Root canals get a bad rap, I think! When you need 'em, you need 'em). The front desk staff here was also friendly. Can't say enough good things about this practice.

Even though this was the worst dental situation I have ever had, this ended up being the best experience I've ever had at a dentist -- thanks to the entire staff at VanEndo!

Do not go. Lonsdale…read moreDental Centre are the most unprofessional dental office I have ever been to, their lack of skill and care is astounding. I went here for a while, because I am not from Vancouver, and it was recommended as I did not know where to go. I had chips in my teeth, and asked if they could be filled. The dentist told me that was not possible, so instead just filed them down a bit, leaving me with a less sharp, but asymmetrical uneven result. I have since been told from a better dentist that I 100% can have it filled. So that was the first problem. They asked me if I want a night guard, which I said no, I do not want one. I have had a specialist tell me that it would make my TMJ worse. They called me to "let me know they ran it with my insurance and wanted to book me in." Now for the worst and most shocking experience. I was in a severe car accident, I suffer TMJ, but it was made extremely worse from this accident. I went in for a filling, and told them that my TMJ was much worse from this accident, plus I have whiplash, concussion, PTSD, and back / neck injuries on top of it. The inept assistant was pushing soooo hard on my jaw that I was crying, and could taste the blood as she cut up my gums trying to force on the ring for the dental damn. I kept telling her how painful it was, and she kept "adding more freezing" as she continued to forcibly try to shove on this ring. After about 5 minutes of her gouging me up, and causing extreme stress to my jaw and neck, the dentist came and said "That is the wrong size" . . . No wonder she was struggling soo much. The filling was done, and they were to close for 2 weeks for holidays. They informed me that they would be closed, but would have someone checking emails incase I needed any adjustments, incase the filling was too high. It was.. I emailed to let them know I was in constant pain where the filling is, and that my physio therapist was very angry how much stress they put on my jaw and neck. He did not even want me to go back to them. I sent them a photo of how cut up my gums were even a week later. You can see in the photo how cut it still is even 6 days later, especially with how fast the mouth heals it was shocking to see how deep the mark still was. I said I was struggling to even think of coming back to have the tooth looked at because of how horrible that experience was, and how it not only affected my physical health, but mentally aswell as I was suffering soo much anxiety and depression from the PTSD of almost dying. But thought it was important to let them know how bad my experience was with that hygienist, to prevent someone else from suffering like I did. To not know the proper size, and ignore as I told her how painful it was is inexcusable. They finally responded a week later asking if I would come back, and I agreed under 2 conditions. 1. I would NEVER be with that hygienist again, and 2. I would have on file that a dental damn would be never used again. They agreed, so I booked in... To my horror, when I was brought it, guess who the assistant was... The very same one that I was promised I would never be with again. I was soo furious I Sat there frozen with rage as all I could do not to get up and leave was silently have tears stream down my face. The dentist came, and awkwardly filed down the filling that was way too high causing me soo much pain. She asked what was wrong, to which I said "Did you get my email?". She said No and asked what it was about. All I said was you need to read it. The dentist emailed me to apologize, but it was way too late for that. The fact that the front desk had the lack of tact to even tell her about my email, and still booked me with the same hygienist was disgusting. Their lack of care about patients and lust for money is evident. Avoid at all costs.

I saw my dentist who I advised I would need a root canal and was referred to Dr Rene Chu of Oakridge Endodontics. I had an initial consult with Dr Chu where x-rays were taken and he explained in detail the process. A root canal is required when the inner pulp of a tooth becomes infected, inflamed, or dies due to severe decay. The root canal removes the infected pulp, cleans the root canal, and seals it to save the tooth from extraction. The root canal appointment was made for the following week. The root canal procedure went very well. Each step of the process was explained as they went and they continually checked to ensure I was ok. There was a short debrief after the procedure and I was provided instructions / information on what to expect for the next few days. It was a very positive dental procedure and happy to recommend Dr Chu and Oakridge Endodontics if one is needing a root canal.

That said, I was referred to Drs. Conn by my dentist for a Root Canal. Just the phrase makes people cringe. I can't say when I've been more impressed by the service provided. Never mind, the surgery itself was less disturbing than getting a Filling. Now that's saying something! I've been around the block, quite a few times, and Drs. Conn are consummate professionals in every way. Their staff are also wonderful to deal with, every single one of them. Anyone saying otherwise needs to look in the mirror. I understand that some people are terrified of dentists, but they need to seek other professional help prior to attending to limit the stress they are putting on the dentist.
