Good doctors that are knowledgeable, willing to explain and are caring. They seem to over schedule so sometimes the wait can be long.

Don't use this place. Was scheduled for surgery. Got there wait get called and was told dr overbooked. Go home was told to come back next day. Get taken to the back iv put in. 3 and a half ours later get told it'll be atleast another 11/2 hours. Got up and walked out. Treat there patients with no respect read more

Today was my first visit to PWU at their Pecos clinic and I was left with a very good first impression and experience. All the staff including the women at the front desk were very nice. Check in was a breeze with little to no wait time. Had my initial visit today with Mia Moran, FNP-C. She was very pleasant and took the time to really understand my concerns. Mia demonstrated that she truly cares about her patients and because of this, she deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond, far exceeding my expectations. I Had a kidney stone and was at Henderson Hospital and Dr Abbott came in on his day off and saved me a ambulance ride to another hospital. He put a stint in and then blasted and removed the stone. Let me first say that Emily the young lady at the front reception has an ATTITUDE!!! And it's a Terrific Attitude !!! When a man for the first time in his life goes to a Urologist he is both apprehensive and a bit nervouse. Emily, with her caring and compassionate attitude, put me to ease. We even had a few laughs. I had the wrong date for the appointment but Emily found a way to get me in later that day. If not, I would have worried for the the next few weeks. Not surpisingly, all the other staff including Mia also showed kindness, compassion, and listened to my concerns. My office experience with Pacific West Urology was problematic, to say the least. First off, I called during posted business hours to see about scheduling an appointment as a new patient. I called back at least four times that day, and no one picked up. I left it ringing for a couple of minutes each time. And there was no way to leave a message I tried the same the next day. Same result. Finally, I used the contact email from the home page of their website. No response initially, but a couple of days later I received a voicemail from a Pennsylvania number saying that they were called about my appointment request. I called back, and then went back and forth several times to solidify things like my insurance coverage. Still heard nothing from PW Urology about scheduling an appointment. So today (11/11/24) I called the office again and someone picked up. The receptionist was curt on the rude side ... she told me, "We don't take that insurance." I responded, "You could have told me that two weeks ago when I couldn't get anyone to answer my phone calls. Thanks for your help." Unfortunately, this is par for the course in Vegas, at least with many of the providers we've used in the past. The doctors may be excellent, but their staffs and offices seemed to be very mismanaged. How is it that so many offices can't or won't get this right? It's supposed to be 'customer service'. read more

I was diagnosed with the wrong thing, I took medicine for over 2 months calling and telling the girl in person that the medicine isn't working. Mean while I am in pain. She gave me a second medicine and that one didn't work either. I switched to a real urologist and he diagnosed me with the right problem. Never going back here. Train your People better. I have had a bad experience with something as simple as scheduling. Why is it every provider in NV thinks that you should have to wait a month to see someone?!! Is there no sense of urgency or just slow staff? Thought it would be an improvement or Las Vegas Urology, guess I was wrong. I set up an appointment more than three weeks ago with a doctors referral that was urgent just to find out that my appointment is with a PA and not Dr. Abbott. When I called today to find out if I can see Dr. Abbott and not PA they told me he wasn't available until December and the PA is the exact same thing except for the doctor does surgeries, that's completely misleading and incorrect as doctors have more education, residency experience, etc. a bait and switch. Efficient staff. Nice waiting room. Helpful doctor assistant. (Mia Moran) My first visit was paid with Medicare co pay. My second visit was paid with Veteran Admin Tri West. Glad to get that straightened out. I had a kidney stone 'attack'. The St Rose ER recommended I visit a urologist. The VA appt was too far out on the calendar, so I looked around and found this office via yelp. So glad I did because whom St Rose recommended had many bad reviews. I was able to get a timely appt. During my appt, I already had scans from the ER and those were reviewed. My symptoms were discussed and another scan was scheduled. (done by SimonMed Imaging) That procedure went well and it showed that my stone was gone. I was explained by the doctor asst how I may have gotten the stone and how to prevent any in the future. There were options, but I declined any that had a cost. I hope I never have to visit again, but if I get another stone, I'll come here for help. read more

On a rating of one to 10 with 10 being the best I would give Dr. Abbott a OK 10. Prior to going to Dr. Abbott I had gone to two other urologist both of whom did zero for me. Their licenses should be revoked. Dr. Abbott has devised a pelvic floor 12 week exercise program. After only 4 weeks my urinary incontinence has diminished by 50%, without using any medication. Dr. Abbott should be a saint. My previous Urologist had a lost my confidence. I found Dr. Abbott and everything has changed. Previously I had Bladder Cancer which was treated with BCG. I was going in every 3 months for checkups, Cystoscopy. This is where Dr. Abbott came through for me. My latest "scope" showed all clear! Joel Abbott's practice Pacific West Urology was a very bad experience from the beginning. First off their staff was trying to charge me a copay before I was seen, right after I told them my copay deductible has been met and even after getting my insurance on the speaker phone to clarify this, then they spelled my name wrong but NOT just wrong, they made a joke out of it, and when I told them about it, it took 20 minutes to redo 1 page of the 3 pages that was wrong and they never corrected the other 2 pages. Then they agreed that I needed to get a STAT approved, which means a rush to get the blood work and a CT scan done and they would contact me when it's approved and then I could call the other places to make my appointments, but a week went by and I had to contact them to remind them and only then they said they will call me back and they did and then said it was approved but if I had not called them to remind them it would have took longer or maybe they would have forgotten about me completely. What good is a STAT if it takes more than a week to get approved. Then I go to get blood work done at Quest and they got my name wrong because of the mistake from Pacific West Urology's mistake. Then Quest staff also let me know that one tests must have been a mistake because it was a pregnancy test? I AM A MAN! Has Joel Abbott's staff lost their minds, or are they trying to milk my insurance for excessive tests or is their staff WOKE? MEN CANNOT GET PREGNANT!!! Helloooooo!!!! Im done with this place. I definitely would say anybody who second guesses seen Dr. Abbott you're wrong. I have been seeing a urologist for the last 10 years and I used to be a part of Las Vegas urology. I always felt like they were nothing but a corporation and we're nothing but a number they don't even know our names and they don't care the doctors in and out in literally two minutes And they say we'll just observe it every six months OK but if there's a cyst a mass on your kidney or anything and they want to just keep an eye on it, let's say every six months what if it was cancer that was six months that they could've saved your life I don't trust Las Vegas urology. I literally went to my first appointment with Dr. Abbet. I was upset the timeframe waiting for him was a little long But it was worth it when he came in he was in that room with me for about a good 20 minutes he had so much knowledge he makes you feel like he truly genuinely cares. I went to my third appointment with him the other day I do have some polyps in my bladder. I'm concerned he tells me it's nothing to be concerned about he explain to me what he thought it was, but he is still willing to do a biopsy for me to put my mind at ease because he knows how scared I am because I think it could be cancer that is somebody that truly cares all these years I went to Las Vegas urology I've always heard that I had blood in my urine never once did I ever have them put a camera up inside of me to show me anything well, long story short I had my urethra dilated doctor showed me that I had a couple polyps. I never would've known if he never would've showed me I was thankful that he did that and I'm thankful that he's doing this little procedure to put my worry's at bay and I truly hope that these polyps are nothing. My son is 19 and he's going to be seeing Dr. Abbet. He has an issue as well Las Vegas urology seems not to truly understand or care at my appointment, Dr. Abbott even gave me some good advice for my son and he's not even his patient yet. He didn't need to do that time is money he did it because he wanted to out of the kindness of his heart all his staff they're nice girls ladies they're friendly, so just because he's not backed by a big name like Las Vegas urology don't shy away. Trust me I wouldn't go back to Las Vegas urology if they were the last doctors on the planet they do not care about people, so I suggest anybody who's reading this you give doctor Abbott. What a relief to find a doctor who listens to his patients and asks questions. I was sent to another urologist but refused to return; for a number of reasons. First, his office staff was rude and unprofessional. Then his head nurse was condescending and treated me like I was a child. And finally, the doctor didn't seem to care about my problem - only wanted to run unnecessary tests. Dr. Abbott's office staff is refreshing. You're greeted with a smile and by name - like you're family. They explain everything and is always available if any problems arise. My husband had one terrible experience after another with Las Vegas Urology, specifically, Dr Newman.
