When viewing the campus map online it appeared much larger and much more confusing than it actually was. The PA Center was immediately to my left as I pulled onto campus, very easy to find and parking was extremely close too! I also viewed the theater seating chart online to pick my seat. I really loved that it showed me which seats would have a blocked view, encouraging me to pick another one. The theater seemed much larger online than it actually was. So when I chose a front row seat, I had no idea I would be "kick up my feet onto the stage" close. It was still a great seat and I could see the entire performance. The acoustics were good as was the lighting. They could definitely use another bathroom, one is not enough!

I attended here between 2012 and 2015, and I think this is a great school for a serious student…read more You will struggle at this school if you are not a 4.0 student already; I wasn't very studious when I came here, but then I graduated and felt (slightly) more prepared for college. The 4 by 4 system (4 classes in fall, 4 classes in spring) moves extremely fast, and you are expected to be on top of everything. This was definitely an asset for college, and being able to focus on fewer subjects at a time helped me with studying, while being able to explore the vast array of excellent courses this school offers. Many of the teachers here are top-notch, and you can attain an education that rivals many colleges. The Counseling Services at CCA are usually very helpful and will help you determine what college/academic goals you want to pursue. Also, the students very accepting and friendly, they celebrate "weirdness", and many are extremely invested into the arts and their passions. Put short, the students that attend CCA are very talented. However, if you are insecure and have a hard time dealing with competitive and cutthroat enviornments, you will hate it. This is one of the best public schools in the country, and students here are extremely studious and ambitious (In fact, they offer Calculus III and Linear Algebra, along with over 80% of the student population taking at least one Advanced Placement class according to USNWR); There was even a student who won the Intel and Siemens Science Prize for research on treating influenza. And you will feel like a failure at times since you are surrounded by more ambitious and motivated students than yourself; From your typical high school, attending a community college is perfectly normal after High School and only the best go onto college, but at this school, its considered below average, and even having a 3.0-3.25 GPA from this school is sometimes seen as slacking off. Although I felt somewhat insecure of myself and anxious about me not being as dedicated and motivated as some of my fellow classmates, I think that I wouldn't be as academically suitable without the rigorous education and encouraging student body here. The only real drawback i can think of is that because the student population at CCA is very affluent and live relatively sheltered lifes, going to college and dealing with other socioeconomic classes will be quite a culture shock, and also many parents pay thousands of dollars for their students SAT prep, which is meaningless in the real world.

We were so honored and the student who nominated him for the honor is just so dear to us. Overall, the school is a really nice school and they really do take care of it. The children behave here and it seems like they have a really tighten it community around the school. I did like that the cheerleaders do the traditional thing that high school Cheer does and they went to the other side of the field to greet the Mount Miguel cheer squad and walk around with them to do their cheer games that they do. The sound system here is wonderful. There's a lot of school spirit. The field is nice and the track is semi-new. The football field decorations and white chalking.

Working in fellowship with our church community to help feed others was a wonderful experience. Our morning group did so well and broke previous records By the time our morning shift was over we had all packed 700,000 meals!! We are hoping by the end of this weekend event, we will have packed at 2 million meals. This is a beautiful school. Very well organized event.

One time…read moremy friends had a problem with this one girl (not me I didn't know her well) so they took it to the counselor, and the girl kept harassing and trying to talk to them even after the counseling, and so they kept going, and this one counselor told the girls that were being harassed that the girl harassing them was a growing girl, and that they are being tattletales. The ASB activities aren't as fun as you would think since they kinda make it for kids coming into 6th grade, but overall this school is okay with it's teaching just not the counselors. (Besides Ms. Hope, she's amazing, p.s everyone is chopped...)

It is the smallest of all the Del Mar schools, which really makes it feel like a private school education. It is a very tight knit community where all of the staff get to know each and every child. This school really focuses on the whole child where morals and values really matter. I have a son who has moved onto middle school and the transition was flawless. He was very well prepared, much more than I even expected. I give so much credit to The Hills for that. Between the impressive collaboration within the staff to the integrating of all of the STEAM+ (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Music and MORE) into all of the classrooms, this school couldn't be more impactful. The playground is beautiful with lots of trees for shade, rolling hills, a wonderful garden that the kids love to be a part of- just so much character. I just discovered that Yelp even offers reviews of schools and I knew I had to get on here and let readers know how amazing our little neighborhood gem is!

Plenty of parking and surrounded by lots of food options for the kids to walk to after school or on minimum days. Upgrades always going. The walls, ceiling, and rafters are painted and very clean. The basketball gym floor is super glossy, clean, and well kept. They have a PA System and they announce the varsity games and play music on it. I noticed that they have large projector sized screens on each end of the gym. Their A/V Team is pretty nice.

They both loved the "4 by 4" schedule as opposed to the traditional school schedule, and we've found it to be a safe, welcoming school free of the cliques and social pressures we heard about at some of the other local high schools. The school infrastructure hasn't been the best, but that is in the process of being improved, albeit too late for our kids to enjoy. The only other minor complaint would be with some of the athletic staff, but in our oldest's case, that coach is no longer with the school. I would not have any hesitation recommending SDA to another parent who was considering sending a son or daughter there for high school.

The have an upstairs area for inside classrooms with no windows and some classes do. They have an upper decking with a viewpoint of the whole campus plus the Orthrodonist, Rite Aid, and 7 Eleven. The Mustang Commons looks like a university. Ceilings are big and good enough for having a voice classes. All their vending machines are blocked off for the summertime. Fresh air inside/outside makes it easier to for me as incoming LCC Sophomore to breathe... Their water bottles are still purified, their Chimmie Chonga or Posada Burritos can be beat

Students need to go through a rigorous application and interviewing process for admittance. Some of the criteria is to be from a low-income family and must be the first in their family to attend college. It is expected that every high school senior apply to colleges and universities. The school has had a reputable academic standing across the nation and has been featured multiple times in various "Top High Schools" polls. It is evident that the staff and faculty at Preuss encourage excellence out of their students. They love what they do, and the students are always enriched in their surroundings that is facilitated by the staff.

Came here for a school sports event. They were the hosting school. All the parking spots are…read morestrictly for faculty. There is absolutely no place to park. I ended walking from the hospital parking lot to the school after searching forever and will have to pay for parking there. Then when I got to field there was no place to sit. I can't explain how put out I am. The faculty spots are open because the game is after school and we couldn't use them. Please don't invite people to your school if you have ZERO visitor parking. ZERO. You should make it clear you are not hospitable, oh yeah, I guess you did. I am giving a star for the nice students that were helpful in finding the field.
