Back in 2012, I was looking for a good place to convert my hard making fiat into real money. Fortunately, I discovered Pacific Precious Metals and never again switch to another store. One of the best locations in the Bay Area, comfortable, easy parking, beautiful and most important - safe. Great team, great prices made this company #1 choice for me. p.s. Dan is the owner - an honest and decent man you can rely on. read more

These people never answer their phone. Called all morning luckily another store answered. . They told me they had what I was looking for , I drove 1.5 hours and when I got there they didn't have any of it. Terrible service In response to your message: not all customers want to buy online. A lot of us prefer to pay with cash. You should answer the phones. I called 5 times in one hour trying to get through to someone from 11am-12pm. When I left I forgot to ask a question and I sat outside your locked door pushing the button for 5 min and wasn't able to even get back in. Like I said. Terrible service. Had someone answered the phone I could have turned around and went elsewhere. read more

Went here to sell some stuff. Guy was friendly who owns and runs the shop. Transaction went by smooth and fast. I was in and out!!

Old white lady vibe where anyone vaguely ethnic will be treated with suspicion and disdain. Went in to sell and was told to wait a few weeks before issuing a check due to cash deficit. Lame. read more

Easy to work with; I received cash for my silver. A nice office. I didn't get other appraisals, but the price seemed fair.

I inherited some coins, and was quite pleased with their process of identifying the valuable ones and purchasing those at current prices.

This place is a complete joke. I've been a customer here for years and always paid cash for my items, which I received on same day of purchase. I just called and asked what the process was to sell back metal I had previously purchased from this location. The lady on the phone told me that I would not be able to get cash like I used to purchase the items and that she had to have date of the check written out for a week after the date of purchase exchange. I asked would I get to keep my metal for that week interim of her being able to acquire the funds and pay me for my metal and she said no. So she would get my metal worth a lot of money and I get a check that I would not be able to cash for a week if and only if her store was able to come up with the funds. That was the excuse she used that metal is up and people were selling and that she needed to get the funds prior to giving me the money. Seems like a great deal for her and a shitty deal for me. There is no guarantee I'd even get my money. What if they went bankrupt? What if they closed down? What if they got robbed? Seems like a lot of what if's can happen in that week of waiting for my money while she probably sold my metal in the same day and made a profit. I asked her if this was even legal because it does not seem legal and she said as long as the customer agrees. Really???? This place is a joke. Avoid like the plague. If one sells an item in person they should be paid that day. I know it's a foreign concept to shady businesses but that's usually how it works. read more

Amazing service and place to buy/sell all your precious metals. Mike assisted me and and he is a wonderful person with great knowledge who will take care of you. Definitely recommend this place and working with Mike for an exceptional experience in the world of precious metals. read more

I emailed Pacific Precious Metals on Thanksgiving (!) to ask if they would be open the next day, Friday. I received a quick response from Mike, who said that they would be closed, but he would meet me at the store if like anyway. He was incredibly accommodating, but I said that Monday would be fine. When I went there on Monday, the woman who helped me was friendly, competent, and quick to manage my transaction. The entire experience was easy and pleasant, and they are clearly client focused. I highly recommend them. read more

Good service and believable and trustful satisfaction 100%.very friendly to people and I will definitely come again.

Had a great experience at PPM. They were extremely helpful in shorting through items of value. A great setting, clean, safe, comfortable. I will return when I have more to sell. Thanks PPM. read more

I met with Robin in Sausalito to help identify gold coin jewelry my pilot father had picked up in his travels abroad back in the 70's. He didn't write anything down so I didn't know if any of the coins might be rare or collectible. It was emotional for me to sell Dad's foreign gold, being unsure of the country and era the coins originated from. (Different countries and centuries written in foreign alphabets) Robin researched thoroughly to help determine what gold coins and medallions might be deemed collectible. I felt comfortable making transactions after sufficient due diligence with Robin using her relationships to help her. EG. One item was determined to be over 1,000 years old so that one did not go into scrap gold pile. Robin helped me feel confident that I had respected my father's memory by ensuring I made informed decisions on what to sell and what to keep as collectible. I appreciated the attention, extra time, and privacy provided to determine what I had inherited from my parents. Of course, having the X-ray technology helped instill confidence in all these unique items purchased abroad. Thank you for leaving with a good feeling about honoring Dad by knowing what he had bought. It was a relief to get this figured out with someone's experienced help. read more

Great to deal with. Dan calculates the value of your gold/metal by weight and gives you a high percentage of the current spot price. Very professional. Very transparent. Transaction cost is lowest I could find. He took a lot of time to find the value of my unusual coins to give me the best price. On jewelry, he gives cash on percentage of metal spot. Very happy with the transaction. read more

Not sure why PPM has so many filtered (great) reviews. I guess people who are savvy to modern economics aren't trying to make some kind of online name for themselves in the online world of self-proclaimed foodies? Dan is a always a pleasure to work with - he will buy and sell at better rates than anyplace I can find online, and there's no shipping costs. He's honest and very down to earth, giving great advice to any level investor/seller. Best bullion dealer I've come across in the bay area - bar none (pun intended). read more

Stopped by today to potentially sell some gold jewelry. Micah (sp?) assisted me today. I was put at ease from the get-go. Awesome is the best way to describe the whole process. She explained everything she was doing, from the x-raying, the weighing, the acid tests, and calculations. I had already done my conversions and calculations prior to arriving at their store. Not implying any buyer of your precious metals will try to rip you off. I just personally feel being an informed customer is much better than being an ignorant one. If and when the time comes to do this sort of business again, I wouldn't hesitate one-second before returning here. Great job! read more

I had the opportunity to meet with Dan and sell a bunch of old gold jewelry. He is thorough, extremely fair in his pricing and pleasant to do business with. It is obvious that he knows his business very well All these 5 star reviews are right on the money. read more

Cleaned out my garage and had some vintage flatware sets and some odds and ends of silver coins. I really had no idea what they were worth and saw this place and thought it would be fun to go to Sausalito! I wasn't sure what to expect but I was taken into a nice office. A very efficient woman went through everything and explained the whole process. They had a scale and X-ray machine for items they could not identify as silver to double check. I thought I'd I was lucky I'd end up with a few hundred bucks but walked out of there with $1750. I was really shocked. Will be looking for more items to take back there. read more

Fast services, easy to buy bitcoin. Even charged my phone while working. I really appreciated the great service.

I went into Pacific Precious Metals today to sell some gold I have had collecting dust for a while. Dan and Jill were very professional and thorough with assessing the value of my gold. They had several high tech tools to rate the quality but I could not tell you what those tools are. I feel that they gave me a very good value for what I had. I will definitely refer my friends to come here when they have any precious metals to sell. read more

I took several pieces of jewelry I inherited from my great aunt into PPM. We were treated fantastically right from the beginning. We watched as they put each piece of jewelry into equipment that instantly told them the chemical makeup. Amazing. Found out most of my stuff was costume jewelry, but I did sell a couple of pieces and got a fair price. I was so impressed with my experience that I will definitely be back. Thanks so much! read more

This was my first attempt at purchasing gold. I found their site on line and decided to proceed with purchase. So quick and easy! Purchase was approved and shortly thereafter I received the receipt via email. I requested that I would pick up in Sausalito, so I made the phone call to see if ready and had the pleasure of dealing with Michael. He checked and said yes and so off I went. When I got there he was so pleasant. We reviewed my order but two items were not going to be available. Normally that would not have been a problem for me but I was going to be traveling next week. He was so accommodating and we substituted two other item in its place. I paid the difference and order was complete. He was just the kind of person that placed you at ease and he knew what he was doing and you could tell he enjoyed doing it! LOL! I would recommend to anyone that if you are interested in purchasing gold, or any other metals visit their website. So user friendly, so precise, and you also get the pleasure of dealing with Michael who truly enjoys what he does. They have other locations as well, but the location in Sausalito worked for me....and so did Michael. Thank you so much! I will be back! read more

Finally, an HONEST gold buyer. I have been ripped off by the two previous ones in San Francisco. See my other reviews. Dan took a lot of time to determine the Karats and value of my gold, using high tech equipment. This time I brought a scale and a calculator and the formula and had him check the SPOT price twice. His calculations were the same as mine. Don't bother going somewhere else. You'll FEEL the unscrupulous behavior and you will probably get ripped off. That's my advice after 3 different experiences and the school of hard knocks. read more

I've bought and sold platinum, gold, and silver bullion here for some years now. They are fair and honest, more so then any other dealers I have used in the Bay area. Take all here for the best prices and friendly service (no old grumps as you will often find as collectors), no matter if you are selling or buying -- but no matter what -- avoid all those fly by night pop up "we buy gold" scams at the local mall. I trust this place so much, I've even told my wife if I'm some day no longer around and she needs to convert gold or silver into cash -- go here, it is safe and honest, they sometimes even throw in special treats as "change" when they get to know you. There are many scammers in this industry, so be careful -- and use those who have a proven track record such as here. read more

Dan Barrett of Pacific Precious Metals helped us to sell a large quantity of bullion and coins after a death in the family. We were very impressed by his knowledge and integrity, and greatly appreciated his willingness to make a private appointment on short notice. The sale went very smoothly and the wire transfer was completed exactly as promised. We highly recommend Dan and Pacific Precious Metals. Greg and Kate Pickman read more

I have visited many bullion shops in USA, Asia, Middle East, and Europe who sell gold & silver coins & bars but I found Pacific Precious metals unique. I was very much impressed on meeting Dan Barrett who has excellent knowledge in the field of currency, bullion, commodity markets, home market, US & global economies, bond markets. Not many bullion dealers have got the understanding on various market segments or have the patience to talk with their customers as their focus is to sell their products. In the past meetings, I evaluated that Dan is personality who was able to talk about European economy and their central banks, US fed happenings, monetory easing programs viz QE1,QE2,QE3,Operation twist, asian markets, emerging economies (BRIC nations). He has great knowledge in the field of crude oil which I think a bullion dealer should have. Dan gives special attention to customer without focusing on selling his product and I found he is very polite, has patience to explain a lay man and best part was that he never pushes to sell his products at the end of the discussion or explanation. Few of my friends bought 24k jewelry and were finding an assayer. Fortunately, I found Pacific Precious Metals to be one among the very few facility to offer assay service (purity test) at affordable cost. My friends were happy and Dan had the patience to explain them how the various testing process for purity works and gave a demo between a gold jewel and iron plate. Knowing many facts about the bullion market, currency market, commodity market I found Dan is a, right choice for a novice to make or start his/her buy in precious metals. Also I found Dan offers a very competitive price for the branded products (like PAMP,JM,Credit Suisse) over the spot price when compared to other bullion dealers in the bay area or the mid west regions or online prices. Dan keeps his commitment, my friend had paid and placed the order but was able to take the delivery after few days and Dan delivered regardless of prices going up between order date and delivery date .I had bitter experience in the past as dealers defaulted in delivery due to increment in prices. In absence of Dan. his staffs, Mica and Robin were easy to deal who are polite. I would definitely recommend pacific precious metals for someone who is a true and promising buyer in precious metals or wants to test their jewelry for purity or need to evaluate their jewelry. Wish Dan starts a branch office in the east of bay area. read more

This was my first experience selling any gold in a "retail" setting. Retail is in quotes because the space does not feel like retail but instead a cozy space to do business in. I have a business where I sometimes come across dental gold. I usually like to cash it out quickly, and I have found them to be the most exacting of their assay. They have a x-ray scanner that will tell you all of the metal content. Why is this important to dental gold? well, most places are not able to test for Palladium. They will also buy lower karat gold, which few people can test for. They also pay in cash right away. They have also been very helpful in identifying metals that I couldn't figure out. read more

We had an A-plus experience with Dan recently. He was patient, transparent -- it was a tutorial on the process and industry as much as a sale. We'd go back to Pacific Precious Metals in a heartbeat. Hope to actually. read more

Place was a little tricky to find but nice once inside. Walk up the steps to the door and they will open it for you. Gentleman at the front desk was overly friendly and pleasant. Very friendly and patient staff, who are there to help you without making you feel rushed. I particularly like how high tech they are. User friendly and constantly updating website. In their office they have very high tech machines and devices for verifying precious metals. They are willing to scan each peace as you watch, testing its purity.
