Very unfriendly and unhelpful people, there are so many better options in the bay area.

I was bringing in similar plants from the same family from as far off as Ecuador, Hawaii, Washington, Minnesota, and Florida (shipping to Texas). EVERY other supplier had appropriately packaged the plants to keep the roots moist during the shipping process, roots were healthy with green growing tips and healthy branching. The delivery from this supplier was packed bone dry in expanded clay and lava rock with roots in terrible condition, shriveled to the point of loosing their sheathes. After leaving a poor review on their eBay site, Tony attempted to attribute the condition to the season and shipping, which are irrelevant if kept correctly, and unrealistic expectations (shaped by superior competition). They may be worth checking out at the physical shop where you can see product, but I would steer clear of online listings.

The plants NEVER germinated and/or bloomed in over a year. I spoke to a Horticulturist at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and was advised that these plants are defective and will NEVER bloom. There are several blogs that reference the same problem I have. The US Department of Consumer Affairs has 16 pending official cases against this company. All are a matter of public record. I have called this company several times and have left messages all to no avail. Trying to amicably resolve this matter, but it is apparently clear that this company has serious problems. George and I made a quick trip to Cost Plus World Market today to pick up the sardine-themed…read moredoormat we'd ordered online, and the whole process couldn't have been smoother. The cashier had it ready behind in a storage area, handed it over with a smile, and we were on our way--no waiting, no confusion, just easy. Of course, once we were inside, leaving immediately was out of the question. The store is a maze in the best way, packed with shelves that feel like little windows into different parts of the world. We drifted from aisle to aisle, pausing every few steps to point something out to each other. The international snack section alone could keep you busy for an hour. I found myself lingering over Japanese rice crackers in colorful packaging, a cheerful Hello Kitty snack assortment, and rows of German bottled sausages, and pantry staples. There were so many nostalgic and unexpected finds mixed together. I spotted White Rabbit candies--the same creamy treats I remember from childhood--right next to bottles of Kewpie mayonnaise and tins of beautifully packaged sardines that looked almost too elegant to open. Some chips had labels entirely in Asian languages, no English at all, which somehow made them even more tempting. Nearby were jars of caviar, imported cured meats like prosciutto, and shelves of specialty ingredients that made me want to plan an entire dinner party on the spot. George ended up picking out a few things to take home: delicate Bonne Maman raspberry tartelettes, a bag of traditional German Black Forest-style egg noodles (spätzle), and a box of crisp cannoli shells. It felt like a little culinary tour without ever leaving the store. As we wandered, I had the thought that this place would make a surprisingly perfect first-date spot. You learn a lot about someone by what catches their eye--what they reach for, what they're curious about, what reminds them of home. It's relaxed, a little quirky, and full of conversation starters. By the time we left, doormat in hand, I was already thinking about coming back. It's the kind of place that invites you to slow down, explore, and discover something new every time.

Furniture, house, kitchen and table ware, great selection and pricing for coffees and teas, seasonal decorations, gift wrapping, ribbons, and greeting cards, and more. They have a very small selection of seasonal wear like dresses, scarves, gloves and hats. I usually pick up a few of their scarves every season. Their big secret is their curated wine selection, a showcase of wines popular with those who know. CPWM has a huge wine sale once or twice a year. Regulars will watch for the sale and cart out cases of their favorites. My biggest shopping forays to CPWM are for birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas / NYE. I always find fun, cute, eclectic, items for stocking stuffers or treat bags here. Give Cost Plus World Market for a different and enjoyable shopping experience!
