He was surprised that I knew so much about the job and of course I let him know the reason why as I did the exact same work many years ago. When I called, I was quoted $265 for a full drain clean, plus a possible additional $165 if the plumber was on site for more than an hour. I accepted that estimate. I was never consulted about any additional work or charges. I learned by phone, after the work was done, that I owed roughly $750. The final invoice was $765.84: Main line: $385 (quoted: $265) Bowl removal: $150 Over the hour: $165 Wax seal: $7 Fuel & toll surcharge: $12 NJ sales tax: $46.84 Some of these charges are reasonable. But no one told me the toilet would need to be removed at a cost of $150, and no one told me the base price had changed from $265 to $385. A single phone call before proceeding would have let me make an informed decision as the homeowner. That call never came. Quoting one price and billing another is misleading. I can't recommend this company. If you use them, get the full price in writing before any work begins.

The last plumber suggested I call IG Sewer and drain. Calling and making an appointment was easy and two days later IG arrived at the house. I met with Josh, Brian and Felix. They were able to clear the main that no one else was able to unclog. A camera inspection was performed and it showed an enormous amount of roots and several cracks in the clay main. It appeared that after over 100 years the clay sewer main was on its last legs and about to collapse. The crew worked diligently and carefully to re-line the main, extending its life for 50+ more years. This crew was friendly, and worked great together. He showed me what the problem was and gave me 3 options to permanently resolve the issue with pros and cons for each option.
