The part in question was still under warranty. The problem was somewhat stubborn....requiring two trips to his shop to fix. However I am extremely impressed with his professionalism and abilities. The repair was covered by the warranty. Can't recommend Kyles Auto Repair enough. Thanks again Kyle!! Five Stars!

It's now 5 years later and my dad is still trying to battle this in court... SHAME ON YOU! ***SEE BELOW FOR FULL STORY*** Anthony M. 5 years ago WARNING TO FELLOW CAR ENTHUSIAST DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR TO KYLE'S AUTO REPAIR AND RESTORATION LOCATED AT 1728 NORTHCREST DR. CRESCENT CITY, CA Just to mention a few of my bad experiences.......after my 1970 Pontiac GTO had been sitting in my garage for over 25 years, due to a malfunctioning engine; and because at the time it was more important to provide for my family. After retiring from over 35 years in law enforcement, my kids persuaded me into restoring my GTO which I bought new..........THIS IS WHEN MY NIGHTMARE BEGAN. First mistake: TAKING IT TO KYLE'S AUTO REPAIR AND RESTORATION. They refused to give me a written estimate as I requested. And said they would charge me by the hour but, promised it wouldn't cost me very much to repair... LIE !!! After nearly a year, Kyle and his father Curtis ended up charging me close to $31,000, After all was said and done........ for a job that should of cost only about 7 to 8 thousand dollars. Did you know, to replace the engine that I purchased elsewhere and had delivered to Kyle's garage to be installed in my GTO you had to remove both fenders and the bumper first?!??!? NEITHER DID I !! Now, my new transmission that they installed had no first gear and will start in any position the gear is placed in. That's why Kyle warned me to apply my brakes before starting the car. While my GTO was in Kyle's possession my positraction in my GTO was stolen. Kyle and his father replaced it with a single wheel drive unit. Also my original gas tank was taken and replaced with a cheaper tank. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ORIGINAL GAS TANK TO BEGIN WITH. Kyle also rewired my GTO, now I have no horn or backup lights. And due to to bad wiring it caused my electric radiator fans to burn out the transfer switch. Which I had repaired at a different shop. Plus, Kyle charged me for new parts that he never installed in my GTO. He also charged me for a supposedly new car battery that had three dead cells and had to be replaced shortly after getting my car back because the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I just mentioned a few things that went wrong while Kyle and his father had my car. PLEASE BE WARNED..... I filed a complaint with the California bureau of auto repair (B.A.R.). After the B.A.R.'S investigation they ruled in my favor and they agreed that I definitely was taken advantage of by Kyle and his father, Curtis.......However, I discovered that the B.A.R. has no teeth. They informed me that their hands are tied because there hadn't been enough complaints filed against Kyle's auto and restoration....... Folk's this is like your local municipality refusing to install traffic lights at a known dangerous intersection, until there's a certain amount of fatalities that had occurred. I hired a local attorney, but he proved to very incompetent and ineffective......... I'm still looking for a competent attorney!! I had been screwed twice. First by Kyle and his father, Curtis and now by the attorney that I hired to seek justice on my behalf.... Folks, I believe that people should support their local businesses but, NOT WHEN THEY STEAL AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PUBLIC !!!!

I just found out that Port of Gold Beach rents cars! As of this writing, $25 per day with a 25…read morecents per mile charge. No unlimited mileage option. At this price, it's best if you are just traveling in and around Gold Beach, don't go out of town. Although the Port is only open Monday - Friday, you can pick up and return cars on weekends. I picked up my rental on Monday, December 2. The Port keeps two cars. One car was a 1999 model, the other a 2003 model. I was given the 2003 model. I drove it a few miles to a grocery store, went shopping and couldn't get the car started again. Alternator problems. The Port quickly sent someone out to get the car started, and I was switched to the 1999 model. Also, I discovered their "daily" rate isn't "per 24 hour period" like most rental companies do. They charge $25 PER DAY whether you have the car all day or just a part of the day. For example, if you pick up a car at 10:00 AM on Monday and return it by 10:00 AM on Wednesday, most rental car companies would consider that to be a "48 hour" (2 day) rental. Not so in this case. It's still a three day rental because you had the car Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. So, if you schedule a car with the Port, pick it up as early as possible on the first day and return on the last day as late as possible since you will pay for each day you have the car. I was going to rent Mon - Wed, but ended up returning the car Tuesday afternoon. As per their policy, I paid $50 ($25 X 2) for two days rental, plus 25 cents a mile. The Port does not charge any idiotic taxes and fees. Just rental plus 25 cents a mile. For what I got, I considered it worth it. Oh, their policy is no smoking and no pets. The purpose of this rental was to take my cat to the vet. I explained that the cat will remain in the carrier the entire time. They okay'd my rental based on that.

I say I don't know and he says "you have to go back and get the mileage " Im like what? He says, "is that a problem?" I say yes it's the other end of the airport and it is freezing outside. He says "you have to get the mileage." I say "why dont you go get the mileage. " He says he can but he has a lot to do, shows me a big bunch of keys, which means nothing to me, and says you'll have to wait. Now in my head I'm like what the actual fuck? I've been renting cars for 30 years and never had someone say I had to go back and get the mileage. So off I go, not at all happy. On my way I see another employee I had encountered when I picked up the car. I ask him about the go get the mileage bs and he says only if I want a receipt. Now I'm pretty irritated. The guy at the counter never said anything about a recipt ( which I dont even need). So I get to car and snap a pic of mileage and head back to counter. I get there and the dude is all what's the mileage? And I say I could really just tell you anything because how would you know if it's the truth or not. He says. " you have to take a picture " and now I'm done. He never mentioned a picture when he sent me back and even though I took one I'm like no way! So I say I don't have a picture and start to let him know what bs this whole experience is when a women who works there interrupts me to tell me to calm down. Well I am calm just fed up. Anyway I tell her dude needs some training, she says if you don't need a recipt you don't have to have mileage and I say yes, it would have been great had he told me that to start. Anyway, not happy with the whole experience. Won't be back

This was the worst experience...left in an airport with no car and no one locally to help. The competitor (Enterprise) were awesome and went out of their way to help.
