Update: My review reflects my actual customer experience reaching out to your shop. Declining to process my insurance claim due to your higher shop rates meant you couldn't help me through my policy, and your cash quote was significantly higher than competitors. I took my business elsewhere and paid out of pocket for a mobile installer who came right to my driveway and did a fantastic job at a fair rate. Potential customers have a right to know how a shop handles insurance on older vehicles and where their pricing stands in the market.

Before I found OC Windshields, I honestly didn't know there was such a big difference between a…read morebasic windshield installation and a quality one. A few years ago, I had my windshield replaced by another shop because it was a little cheaper. They rushed the job, reused old molding, and didn't prep the surface correctly. The windshield looked fine at first, but after the first heavy rain I started noticing water leaking inside my car. Later I learned that shortcuts like poor cleaning, improper primer application, or not allowing the adhesive to cure properly can lead to leaks, wind noise, and even reduce the windshield's ability to protect you in an accident. When I went to OC Windshields, they took the time to explain the entire process. They showed me why quality urethane adhesive matters, why proper preparation is so important, and why rushing a windshield installation can create problems down the road. I realized I wasn't just paying for a piece of glass I was paying for safety, experience, and peace of mind. Sometimes the cheapest option ends up costing more. After seeing the difference firsthand, I can honestly say the quality was worth every penny. If you're getting your windshield replaced, don't just compare prices. Compare the workmanship. It makes all the difference.

Thankfully Yelp makes it easy to get multiple quotes at once and the quote from SoCal Auto Glass was the best and beat all the others in multiple ways. I started looking around at local shops that take Farmers. My requirements were to use all OEM trim, foam, etc. to ensure that the fit and finish looked original and to avoid another Safelite-quality 'repair'. Out of all the local OC shops I talked to, Johnny was the only one who took the time to carefully listen to my concerns. He researched all the OEM parts for me on the first phone call. If you care about the details of your car, ask for Johnny because he really understands his customers. Others on the team are just as great. They kept in touch with me even when Johnny was away for a few days. I brought my car to the shop and the team kept me informed throughout the whole process. It was a quick job but they did it right, which is not what Safelite did. Avoid Safelite and just go with this shop (they are part of the Farmers affiliate network).

However, they were the most comprehensive in their initial quote and quoted me top-tier glass. If you have a front-mounted camera for adaptive cruise control, lane assist, etc., you HAVE to have the system recalibrated after a new windshield is installed. Several quotes suggested it's an option. It's not. Signature was on top of it when I asked about the calibration and how it was performed. They always responded to my several questions as I was deciding between two different auto glass shops. Signature won out for being quick to respond and offering more for less. I finalized the appointment on a Friday, and they were able to get me in on Monday morning. Monday came, and I was there at 8:30 (FYI: It's a little tricky to find as it's a small driveway, so slow down when you get close.) The guiding me into the garage where my window was already set up, ready to go. They led me to their waiting room with a TV, coffee, etc. They came in, showed me that my camera was slightly misaligned after removing my window, and said it would hopefully be corrected when they were done. About 90 minutes later, they came and got me, said they were done, and went through the report that said my camera had been perfectly recalibrated. Taking the care home, the window looked great! In more tests, it rained the next night, so I went for a drive, and there were zero leaks around the window. I couldn't have asked for a better product or service. One final hint - pay cash if you can. They appreciate it.

I called my insurance co and they said I had a $500 deductible but referred me to a place 8 miles away that could do it for $360. I had to wait 2 days because they were booked solid. I didn't realize yelp had a feature that let me receive estimates from several other shops at the same time. I originally requested an estimate from the shop with the most 5 star reviews. Within a few hours I had a total of 3 estimates. Mark - who had the least amount of 5 star reviews - initially replied the quickest. After a few initial questions - which he answered right away - I got down to it and asked "I've received estimates from a few others - what sets you apart from them?" Immediately my phone rings. It's Mark. He tells me that he's been in business for 19 years and the other estimates I received are probably from his friends that also work in the business. He says he's not going to put anyone down because they all have been working in the same industry for sometime now and all work just as hard. He tells me it's really a matter of personal preference and that he could be out as early as the next morning. WOW. Done. He shows up the next morning - yeah - HE came to me. I didn't have to drive 8 miles with a cracked windshield to some shop my insurance co recommended. He arrived 10 minutes EARLY. Told me it would take about 45-60 minutes. He showed me that the windshield that was originally on my 10 year old used car was not done properly and had signs of rust (see photos). If I did get into an accident, my airbags would have been useless. Holy cow. Everything took him exactly 60 minutes from the time he pulled up, explained everything to me, replaced my windshield, cleaned up and drove off. I ended up giving him $20 MORE than what he quoted me (much less than what my insurance's "recommended shop" quoted me) because I was so grateful for his knowledge, honesty and integrity. I highly recommend Mark and Exclusive Auto Glass. Thank you again Mark! Happy Holidays!
