We found them after loosing 2 of our 3 dogs last year (I lost my American bulldog in January when he had a heart attack at 9 years old and we lost our German Shepherd in September when she was just 8 years old from a bacterial infection). Our home was so lonely and too quiet, we were in need of a sweet puppy to love (our 5 year old Alaskan Malamute included). Our daughter, who's a Veterinary Technician, was contacted by them. They found the perfect match for us. We fell in love immediately with her and she's brought our home back to life again . The people at Pacheco kennels are so helpful and kind, they keep in touch with us to make sure everything is going well. Their kennels are immaculate! If you really care about the humane treatment of animals and care about where dogs are coming from then don't go here. We adopted one the females Pacheco used for breeding and she has never been inside a house. She can't walk, bark, and she doesn't know her name. She smelled so bad I'm certain she she was never bathed. She has zero muscle tone and her stomach drags o. The ground. She was used as a machine and then tossed when she wasn't useful I personally would never go to a breeder for an animal, but there are breeders out there. They do not treat their dogs like rubbish. Legit breeders show the parents and their history. There is a reason they don't want you to see the parents. This place should be shut down and charges should be brought against them. Knowing this would be our first dog, they were helpful, informative, and caring in making sure one of their pups were a good fit for us. Lost our beloved chocolate lab to brain cancer in aug, five days later my son was seriously injured (TBI) - our lives got turned upside down. We set up an appointment for Saturday to see a puppy that was ready to bring home. In advance of the appointment we had a few questions, specifically about the health of the puppy's parents. We requested test results for OFA hip and elbow tests, OFA/CERF eye testing, EIC DNA testing and D Locus DNA testing; standard information that is readily available from most breeders selling AKC Lab Retrievers. Unfortunately, Owner George took offense to this. Immediately cancelling our appointment for being "too complicated". Shortly after, his daughter, Kim, let us know that even though our request was not unreasonable, they expect buyers to take their word that their pups are healthy. The experience was jarring and confusing. A $1600 dog should come with more of a guarantee than "take our word for it". Maybe they are dishonest, maybe they just don't know how to handle potential customers? read more

I got my Lab Darcy from Pacheco in November 2015- Yes the place can smell - but we met her parents - the dogs were in kennels but they were clean and all the dogs seemed happy and healthy. They use a local vet who I trust and they gave me a great recommendation. They were reasonable and yes they are breeders but my puppy (now 2) is beautiful and very happy and well adjusted a great addition to our family! read more

We have heard so many great things about Pacheco kennels, and the website advertised "healthy and happy labradors." We were looking to get a new puppy, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we were greeted by large swarms of flies and a horrific smell. We had to walk around to find someone who would show us the labrador puppies. There was another group there, who were the main focus of attention, despite the fact that we had made an appointment to see the puppies. When we were finally acknowledged, we were not given a tour, but were rather thrown into the other group. The dogs were cooped up in fenced cages and wooden boxes with concrete floors. There was no grass in the enclosures, and the food bowl had just a few crumbs and a swarm of flies. The puppies were kept in a foul smelling wooden box that was so small that they were constantly getting trampled by the adult. As we walked more, we didn't notice any open space or a spot of grass for the dogs to exercise, besides an area for horses. Maybe there was farther in the property, it just wasn't visible at first. We also observed that a large amount property was filled up with only cages with wooden boxes. There were bags of old-looking dog food that lay in what seemed to be rotting wooden boxes, also with flies. Pacheco kennels seemed like an unprofessional business, with almost inhumane conditions for their dogs. They don't seem to care at all about the dogs' overall health and well being. Overall the place was filthy and had bad vibes. I highly do not recommend this kennel if you are looking to get a dog or puppy. So where do I even begin.. 1. Initial contact and basic questions took days to answer, emails were never responded to. I had to call several times in a day just to get in contact once. ( I get it farms are busy but when your preferred method of contact as listed on the website isn't responded to I get a little annoyed. ) This isn't a deal breaker but rather the start of the problem. 2. After booking an appointment to view a puppy and pay in full I called back the next day to confirm a few questions I had. Such as health and genetic tests for the parents, the parents akc number, parents registered names of a numbers etc. Basic simple stuff that all legitimate modern breeders not only provide but have front and center on their website. Questions any responsible dog owner would want to know before putting down $1600 for a dog. 3. I was then yelled at and told that " you will need to go else where we don't do that here" I was being " complicated" In regards to that I asked what am I being complicated about I'm not demanding you do these tests I was just asking if they were provided. More yelling later at me later I just canceled my appointment and decided to move on. 4. Moral of this story if you claim to be an AKC member and breeder but can't provide any of the basic information that any responsible dog owner would ask such as proof to back up your claims then you probably shouldn't still be running a business. This isn't the 1950's selling puppies in a newspaper ad. I'm sure the puppy is very healthy but when paying almost 2 grand for a dog paper work is not an unreasonable request. I'm sure the owners will respond to this and make an excuse up... but I just had to vent here and warn future dog owners. If you want an AKC puppy with full papers this is not the place to look. read more

My family has gotten 4 puppies from Pacheco's, all of them very different personalities but absolutely beautiful dogs!

My husband and I had a very bad experience with Pacheco Kennels. They were recommended to us by our close friends who got their labs there a long time ago, so we tried hard to make it work. We wasted more than two months going back-and-forth with Kim by text - she refused a simple phone call and her voicemail was purposefully full - which was very frustrating because she was unresponsive for weeks at a time, and when she did respond, it was with a form text that did not answer our questions. When she finally confirmed that a puppy was available, it was very close to the adoption date. We tried to follow the rigid rules, which would have required 3-hour drives each way on consecutive weekends (including Thanksgiving, when we were scheduled to be out of town), but at the last minute she said the appointment time she had offered would not work, and was very rude. At that point, enough was enough. It took us less than an hour to reach out to another breeder, have a good conversation, and set up an appointment to meet our new puppy. read more

I don't write many reviews on Yelp, but I recently saw one for Pacheco and it really bothered me. The reviewer commented on the smell and look of the kennels. For people who don't know, it's a farm (you know, with goats and horses, etc.), and thus, smells like a farm. I visited this breeder twice before finalizing my purchase. Both visits were great, yes it's busy so you really should make an appointment before showing up- this is likely a testament to their overwhelmingly positive reviews on Facebook and the fact that they breed beautiful Labrador retrievers. The owners really care about their dogs and I was introduced to both parents prior to purchasing my puppy. The owner, Joan, knew every dog by name (and I don't mean "yellow lab #23", I mean "Michaela and Brewster"). Upon picking up my puppy, Joan spent about an hour with me giving advice on puppy management - I could tell she genuinely cared about the dogs and their treatment. She asked only one favor, if I ever needed to give the dog up, please don't send her to a shelter - Joan asked that I call her first so they could find a home for the dog, no matter how old it is. I think that's pretty telling of a responsible business owner. Fast forward one year and my puppy is almost full grown. A terrible watch dog but a pretty awesome cuddler! I couldn't ask for a friendlier or more affectionate dog. These guys know what proper breeding for temperament looks like. I highly recommend them. read more

Decided it was time after 4 years and we knew we wanted another black lab puppy for obvious reasons. Called Pacheco and they had one ready the next Saturday. Went down on Saturday (6/30) and home with our new Puppy that day; 10 Weeks 1 day old. He passed his 1st health check yesterday with flying colors (weight, breathing, heart), no parasites or worms. As for the farm it was great. Pacheco Kennels had happy parents and playful puppy's. We met the parents of our Black lab and knew they took great care of their animals. The farm and people were awesome and explained everything we should expect with our new addition. He has been nothing but awesome since coming home. I highly recommend Pacheco Kennels for a lab puppy. The only thing I wish I did differently was bring home 2. Also, the dog is wicked smart. We looked at Pacheco labs last year for our new lab puppy. They are beautiful dogs but we did not purchase a puppy here because I was so horrified by the living conditions of these poor dogs. Cement slabs, chainlink fence and plywood boxes with just a painter's lamp to keep them warm on freezing cold nights. It's been over a year and I think of these sweet dogs every time the temperature drops. This is NO way for a dog to spend it's life. read more
