Whoever made this train wreck should NEVER be allowed to make a sandwich again! This thing was literally a 1/4" thick piece of ham and a 1/4" thick piece of salami with an entire head of chopped lettuce and a tomato cut in half. When we tried to fold it everything ended up on the counter. Would NEVER order this again. The cheese sticks were just OK and the meatball sub was bland and mushy. Pizza was average as well. I would stick to Roma's on Main and skip this place in the future. The Italian sub that looked like a three year old made it was a deal breaker.

I was craving a burger and this place did not disapoint, I went with the hometown hero and I'm not sure if they even made money on this burger, it was so juicy, not overcooked at all, perfection, seasoned propertly, the meat was likely a perfect 80/20 blend, bacon between the patties was very nice. I've eaten a lot of burgers in my day, and this was probably the best I've ever had. Looking at the menu, there are so many different options and I'm rating on the burgers alone, but I have no doubt that everything is likely top notch just based on the quality of this item. The bread put on the table tasted good enough but was cold and also probalbly days old. Instead of olive oil like most italian the give you the little butter packets like you see at Waffle House. It's very possible that Sal's, while clearly terrible at Caeser salads, may be good at other dishes. I'll never know.

But in this moment? Free food is free food, and emotionally exhausted people do not ask follow-up questions. So we say yes. And yet, there's hesitation. Because we are in this town. This mysterious, slightly cinematic, possibly haunted-feeling Texas town. And I don't know what a "local pizza place" means here. Are we talking hidden gem? Or regret wrapped in melted cheese? They arrive. Boxes in hand. No turning back now. We open them... and immediately--plot twist #2. It's actually really good. Like, not "oh this will do" good. Not "we're hungry so we'll pretend it's fine" good. No--this is legitimately solid pizza. Fresh, hot, clearly made with real ingredients and actual effort. Cheese, a fully-loaded "works" situation, and one mystery pizza that I didn't fully identify but enthusiastically ate anyway. And I didn't just have a polite slice. I went back. Multiple times. For all of them. They tell us it's a local chain and one of the best in the area, and honestly? I believe them. Whatever low expectations I walked in with were completely unnecessary. End result: pleasantly surprised, slightly humbled, and very well-fed. Would absolutely eat it again--especially under less emotionally chaotic circumstances, but honestly... it held up even under those. That's saying something.
