Avoid this place at all costs!! I went for a routine oil change and tire rotation and was told it would take 11/2 hours fine ok. Got back car was not ready so they said to leave it over night ugh!' I did know of a steering arm problem from my last inspection which I was willing to address! Well a call at 430 to pick up my car the next day no prior call before hand to come to a WHOOPING over 3k charge!! They put in a new battery. 2 new tires almost 200 to clean my fuel injection!! I gave a half star just because I walked in the door. Now, I received two different estimates on two different days for the same articles: tires and wheel alignment. The difference was $175 dollars. yes, this includes the discount for a wheel alignment. Now comes the interesting part. The first estimate also included the replacement of all 4 of the wheel TPMS sensers that I purchased through the internet and would be installed and calibrated not a problem. The second estimate (DIFFERENT PERSON) not only was there a price difference, but he said, " we can't install these TPMS sensors because the device to calibrate the sensors can't do that brand of TPMS sensors" . Now if you buy the TPMS sensors from us we will guarantee them. OK, how much are they I asked, he said $100 per wheel. So, I then asked, "How's about a discount on them because you are charging me a little over a $1,100 for the tires with the alignment, plus tax (figure over $1,500) Sorry no can do, was the reply. I said go bye, and you just lost a sale. Well, it turns out, this unit that PACE uses can do any make of TPMS sensors, yes preferably their brand, but any other brand just the same. Thanks to A1 auto for the info, found on the internet. Pace claims they work with their customers, OK. Now I go to PEP BOYS, that's right PEP BOYS. right off METROPOLITAN AVE, not only did I get a better price for same tires, wheel alignment, but they did all 4 of my new TPMS sensors too. They actually used the same calibrator that PACE had, and done everything for $1100. What !!! Everything is fine, no BS Just to let you know, the TPMS sensors I bought were less than $100 for all four, and are EBAY car part certified . My point is PACE could have worked with me, but chose not to, because they wanted to get their extra money for the tire sensors. Whereas. PEP BOYS didn't care they just did it anyway. I will admit that yes, maybe the sensors could be inferior i did not mention the employees nor the device name, just in case you may want to test PACE yourself. read more

I have had them do far more than Tire repairs and installations. Radiator, A/C, power steering, alternator, alignment, suspension including front and rear struts I have found them to be helpful, honest and reliable with certified mechanics and quality replacement parts. They do accept walk-ins but I prefer to telephone first. Honest, skilled repair shops are hard to find. They have kept my 1998 Toyota Camry running and I am now over 151, 000 miles. I believe that their prices are competitive and fair. Give them a try. You will not be disappointed in the quality of the work and services that they render. I would give them five stars. read more

Quoted me over 4k to replace entire exhaust system which was unnecessary. Already was almost entirely in good condition and didn't need replacing, only fixing. Diagnostic didn't provide any value for their steep cost of 150: simply wrote the error code from their OBD reader, a generic description about the code that sounded AI-generated, and noted "rounded bolts". Gave no insight to what was causing the check engine light and instead said it could be caused by many things. Isn't the point of the diagnostic to diagnose what the specific issues are? Got second and third opinions and the other two mechanics showed me the rust that broke down on the muffler tube as well as a missing gasket bolt which were both causing leaks. Got it fixed for a fraction of the price and had no light since. This shop definitely knows how to upsell. Edit because I can't reply: There was no clarification that you were not an exhaust shop "upfront". I brought the car here noticing that the banner outside says you do check engine lights. I came in already knowing the code and that it was a catalytic issue. When I left the car, I spoke to the other man at the desk and told him the code (and you the day before) and that I do not plan on replacing the catalytic convertor if it is not necessary because cost is an issue. Replacing the entire exhaust for 4k on a 14-year old Honda (87k miles) is not reasonable to do at all and you know that too. From that interaction, there was no mention about the shop not specializing in exhausts, or the 150 fee for a diagnostic which is absurd for the value of pulling a code and visually looking at issues on a lift. You mentioned you price yourselves in-between the local mechanics but that is not true from what I've seen later which is $80 on average. Yes, you said a repair requires CARB certified catalytics, but saying you suggested me to go to an exhaust shop is a straight out lie. You instead offered a 10% discount, because 4k was a lot for an old Honda, to do the job with you (showing you still wanted my business), which even after the discount is still much higher than an exhaust shop. This snapshot is accurate because during my short time here, you misled me to paying an overvalued diagnostic and lied saying there was no mention about the diagnostic fee when there really wasn't. There wasn't when I talked to you before bringing in the car, nor with the other guy the next day when I left the car. There isn't even a sign posted inside the store for any fees which is standard at other mechanics. You did all this while knowing that you wouldn't fix the leaks and have to replace with CARB certified parts, but did not suggest me to go else where instead at any point. read more

I had just gotten my inspection done when the mechanic informed me I needed new tires and he doesn't sell or replace tires. I needed it done the same day as I had a prior commitment so I hopped on Yelp to see who was open and had good reviews and this is how I stumbled on Pace Tire Pros. I got there maybe 5 minutes after they opened and they already had a line out the door. I waited my turn and the super nice sales associate told me what I needed , the cost and how long I would have to wait. They were reasonably priced for what you would pay for tires and the wait was decent, I ended up going to get something to eat while I waited. When they were done my tires looked great and I even got insurance just in case(also affordable). What makes them stand out even more is that it's been a few months and they've checked in twice to make sure my tires are running well. This is the second time I have used this tire service and they have completely saved my life both times. I've had some bad luck getting flat tires the past year. They have really quick service. The employees are very kind and the prices are fair. I will continue to use them. I was driving on the LIE when a ladder fell off the back of a truck and I didn't have enough time to sort of out of the way and it completely destroyed my tire. No stars. Money hungry. Second time they have robbed me. First time purchased four new tires for 800.00. 10 days later one pops. Was told not guaranteed. I must have hit something. Paid another 220 for another one. Swore I would never go there again but my 23 year old went there for convenience for an inspection. Told her a number of things need to be fixed. When I called I told them we would pick the car up and bring it somewhere else. Was told they will still charge for "failed" inspection. 37 so I ask to pass what "needs" to be done. Change headlight bulb. Ready for this???? Bulb 25. Labor 56.00. 56.00 for labor to change a light bulb. It makes me very sad that a neighborhood place will take advantage of people. read more

Absurdly rude employees. We came over at closing time to ask a quick question, not even to ask for service. We had a issue where we could come back next day at regular open hours to give them some money for the service, but their employee veru rudly shut us down and didnt even care to ean our business i guess this pleace is doing really well and do not need customers to run their operations. It is very sad how customer service is a low priority to ppl when they have a flag for a bigger company loke goodyear outside their door, that is the representation goodyear has at the moment from the small business, and then tne small business owner complaint when the customers go to big corporations for service. Its a family owned business and as a single girl, im always scared to go to mechanics alone cuz they tend to over charge you. Not these guys! This goes out to Jose for the amazing customer service. I had an issue yesterday where I accidently pierced my tire in my back yard which I knew for sure was unrepairable. As a fairly new resident to Queens, I'm slowly transitioning away from doing most of my business in CT and looking for more places near my new home. Though Pep Boys was closer, I had a really poor experience when I took my GF's vehicle and I will never go back. Because of that, I was planning on going back to CT to Town Fair Tire, but they couldn't take me in until Wednesday the 13th. So after spending some time online looking for a more suitable destination, I came across Pace and liked what I read in the reviews. It also helped to see that they had great prices on tires along with a user friendly website. That night I bought my tires and made my appt. for Monday, 3 days later. The next day however, I received a call from Jose asking me if I would prefer to come in that day (Saturday) instead of Monday. The relief of when I got that call! I travel to work 80 miles round trip each day and I seriously did not feel safe driving to work on a spare tire. When I showed up about 30 minutes later, I was greeted with the upmost respect and friendliness from Jose. He thanked me for coming in on such short notice and got my car going right away. It was great to have him simply confirm my online purchase instead of trying to push me to purchase more than for what I came for. Nothing more throws me off than when an individual looks for ways to throw add-ons or try to convince me to do it their way. After signing off he told me that the car would be ready shortly. My husband and I recently brought our car to Pace to get a new set of tires and really had a fantastic experience. Originally we spoke with Kevin and he was extremely helpful. He gave us different price options for the correct size tires and got us in when we wanted to bring the car. Unfortunately, after starting all the work, it turned out we also needed a few other things done. Matt one again explained everything in detail to my husband and was very professional. Originally he said he would need the car for another two days (in order to get the correct parts). Once my husband explained that I was pregnant and we needed the car he promised to have it finishes the next day by noon. To our surprise, 5:30 that night, the car was ready for pick up. He was able to get the part and finish up in order to help us out. Since we're new to the neighborhood we picked Pace based on yelp reviews and convenience to home. Dropped off car at 7:30am walked home and they called 5:15pm, your car will not be ready until tomorrow, no explanation or apology. I picked up my car at 5:30pm, fifteen minutes after the call and again: "bring it back tomorrow we will have it ready." No regards for my time and no explanation to why they held my car from 7:30am - 5:15pm and couldn't perform a 20 min inspection.
