I used to love this place. I don't know what happened in the last few years but they charged me $1,500 without even diagnosing the problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They said they tried reaching out to me multiple times, if they did, they never left a message.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also tried calling MULTIPLE times and they would never answer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]To be fair, the staff and mechanics are very nice and respectful[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told them what mini said the problem probably was, and they said it was absolutely not the problem. They tried to ask me to pay over $5,000 extra to continue to "diagnose the problem" and at that point I said no. This doesn't seem right. Took the car to my aunts trustworthy mini guy, and guess what. The problem was exactly what they said it was. Just the key fob. They also checked everything that MSpec said I should get replaced, and they did it for the smallest fee. I walked out paying $500. Go to Meadowbrook Collision in Freeport for your mini. They are amazing. Mspec unfortunately lost my business, and I feel robbed. Never again. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I'll give 2 stars for the sake of the mechanic, Miguel, being honest with me when it felt like communication was lacking elsewhere and I was almost taken advantage of financially had he not spoken up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came in for an alignment on my Audi A3, I called yesterday and spoke to Marci over the phone, who told me it was $180 +tax and who was aware over the phone before I came in that my car was on coilovers and rear adjustable control arms, I was particular in asking if they work with these components and they told me yes and I could come in the following day (today) at 10:30AM.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now I arrived early (10:06) in case they had any questions as I perform all my own work, I installed all the suspension, just don't have an alignment rack, and I was assured it wouldn't be long (was told 30 minutes initially) and that it would be $213, $180+tax. After sitting down in the waiting area I went back to the front desk after doing the math and wondering how the hell is it $213? $180+tax is 195, to which I'm told by Marci that there's an additional fee for their supplies and tool maintenance, this should've been my red flag to leave because how don't you mention that? And it's conveniently double in sales tax if you just multiply it twice (180*1.08875= 195, 195*1.08875=213), but whatever, I'm here it's a little bit more than I was quoted but it's fine I go sit in the waiting room. Fast forward to 11:20, Marci walks into the waiting room and tells me it's going to be another hour and a half, I say okay, why? And I get to sit and speak with the mechanic performing the alignment, Miguel, directly, who basically tells me that due to the nuances of the adjustable arms and the fact the car didn't have such adjustment from factory that they would need extra time to verify that everything's within spec, I don't get that as having been in and around shops, you just turn the lock nuts on the arms and wait for the machine to tell you you're within spec based on the wheel sensors, but I just chalked it up to inexperience and sat back down. Now Marci comes back and tells me due to that extra time I have to pay extra at their labor rates, excuse me? I was told these components were just fine over the phone the day before and can be aligned here no problem and was quoted a flat price, now because your guy can't get it done in whatever time you expected (which also WAS NOT COMMUNICATED, I was quoted a flat price on an alignment not a time frame for it) I have to front that bill? Not only that, when they walked me back to the front desk to figure out how much that would be, Marci said it would be in ADDITION to the flat price of 213 I was already quoted, and it wasn't until Miguel walked in behind them that I asked him in Spanish (appeared to be his primary language and helped a lot, thank god I was born Hispanic) what had been done to the car, to which he said nothing, just put it on the rack and attached the alignment sensors to the wheels. Now that I put that in front them, Marci said since nothing had been done that it would be additional labor combined with the original price/ time frame as opposed to additionally on top, so $356 all in, now imagine I didn't speak Spanish, imagine I didn't have any mechanical knowledge, imagine I was just a regular everyday person wanting their car to drive straight and I just agreed to whatever Marci said, how much would I have been bent over? Not only was I dishonestly quoted over the phone and when I first got there (don't state a price + tax if there's an additional fee, how is that not communicated?), I wasted over an hour of my time just for my car to simply be put up on the rack and assessed, by their own admission! The hood release cable on my BMW X5 was stuck, and the hood couldn't be opened. According to what I've seen on YouTube, it's a common problem with older X5's. I brought the car to M-Spec, and they were able to open the hood and replace the cable while I waited. They also charged far less than the dealer would have and the dealer would have wanted me to leave the car. Holy Moly stay away from this place. I brought my E30 here and they destroyed it. The first big thing is they almost killed me. I was picking up my car to go to an event and they didn't fasten the lug nuts on the rear wheel. I didn't notice until I was doing 70 on the BQE and someone pointed it out. The also butchered my radio install, dashboard, windows, leather seats, scratched my brand new paint, the list goes on and on. They screwed up my steering wheel, I mentioned it to them, so they removed my airbag. They installed a new gauge bezel, broke it, and tried to glue it together with epoxy, see the pics. It will take me years and thousands of dollars to recover from the damage they did to my car. If you bring your car to this place you're out of your mind. To be fair, the car does seem to mechanically run well and they did take care of the paint but, it only has 90k miles and damn they created a lot of problems. I now have to get electronic components out from behind the dashboard, fix my gauge cluster, find a short somewhere that they created, fix my steering wheel with missing airbag and no horn, the list goes on and on. read more

Walked in for the first time with a 2000 Porsche 911 with 37000 miles that I just bought from Gary Motors Vantage Auto in Lodi N J. The car was delivered to me with many issues. The car needed New tires, shocks and struts, new gaskets, oil leaks and transmission pan leaks. I also wanted the IMS bearing replaced as it is something you do if you own an older Porsche. Phil, Glen and James answered all my questions and text messages and made me feel very comfortable with the fact that they were going to put this car back together again and make it brand new! I felt like I could trust them with my car and that they were honest and experienced with Porsche and I felt at ease. Horrific experience. This place had good reviews but clearly has gone down hill. My boyfriend took my car in for an oil change and to make sure everything is okay. His appointment was at 10 am, and about two hours in, they informed him they did not have the correct filter for my car, they said they would have it by 4:00 pm so he waited, 4:00 pm rolls around and now they have drained my oil and somehow don't have the right oil for my car and now they said we will have it by tomorrow morning. Now the car is being left over night and said it would be ready by 9 am. This is like someone hiring you for a job and specially says they need red lipstick and fake eyelashes and saying I have everything you need except red lipstick and the lashes, but if you wait until 4 you'll get the lashes and if you wait until tomorrow morning you'll get the lipstick. This is absurd. So unprofessional and unprepared. My boyfriend goes back at 9 am and they are still not ready, so he waits another few hours because they said they wanted him present for the diagnostics, so the car was left over night with no supplies they actually needed and the one thing they could have worked on.. they didn't. He was there for hours and had to call out of work because he was then two hours late and to add insult to injury they left a huge oil stain on the hood of my car. The stain is very visible and their response was well we can give you some product to get it out, so they gave me another job to do in order to fix their mistake. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had, getting your car worked on is always a toss up and you never know what kind of people you will deal with but this was a new level of bad. I have never had my property damaged and figuring out who to take it to and how to get it fixed is a new problem thanks to these guys. Stay away!! read more

Not even a possibility or a price margin for a minor part replacement. They always have to "take a look first." Look, this isn't NASCAR, I'm not ansking you guys to install some jet engine under my hood, I'm asking for a headlight replacement. When you get there, just like every shady mechanics, they over inflate the price on everything including the parts. Above OEM prices for NON OEM PARTS! They don't want you to see them working on your car for whatever reason. Idk maybe it's lack of quality in their the work, parts, both, sabatoge; whatever gets you back in their shop faster. Look up what it means when a mechanic doesn't want you to see them working on your car. Took my car to the original dealership and suddnely what do you know? This was my first time at M-Spec so I didn't really know what to expect given the horror stories on the web about shady mechanics and their attempts to overcharge customers. I found M-Spec online and figured I'd give them a shot, why not. I was serviced at their Middle Village location in Queens. The whole process, start to finish, was an absolute pleasure. They were honest, kept me informed about the car throughout the day through their chat app, and had my car fixed in less than 24 hours. So disgusted by the experience with this company! One star is way too much to give. On Feb. 12, 2021 I needed service for my 2013 VW Golf R. I got my car back May 3, 2022... YES 2022!!! I heard all the B.S. excuses on what is taking so long. I went there several times to see what was the status of my car. One time I noticed my car with the windows down in a warehouse with the front bumper INSIDE the car collecting dust, dirt, & every other particles in a warehouse. Would you believe I get my car back not detailed at all but dirty inside and out? The car smelled like lubricants inside and out. All on my clothes. In the street a day later it still smells. I've noticed my front bumper is DAMAGED on the passenger side. The driver side door sill is missing a retainer clip. The glove box latched is broken, and dirty. Get THIS... New Inspection BUT an Airbag ERROR warning light comes on. Maybe that explains why there is damaged on the front bumper and the grille is loose. My reverse camera didn't respond right away. These are things I have noticed 1 day later. I'm so disgusted that I don't want to drive the car. I told this manager I have Car Shield and I should be covered. All he had to do was contact Car Shield and provide a Repair Claim Form online or by phone. I mean he had at least 1 YEAR to do that!!! He claimed he sent me emails letting me know what was being done. That was a lie. I got a email he sent when I was standing in his office on May 2!!! The only reason I knew my car was ready because I got a call from I guess, one of the mechanics from an unrecognizable number, not the business number. He never called Car Shield. I had to pay out of pocket because there are procedures that are required by Car Shield. I am a UPS driver that works hard for my personal belongings and to get my car back in a condition I didn't leave it... NO WORDS! I talked to another customer who said his car was there for 6 months. I had a bad feeling from day 1. So DISGUSTED!!! read more

Brought my vehicle in because a coolant hose fitting snapped. 2 hours later, the secretary guy told me I needed to change waterpump and thermostat as well (lies) and quoted me over $1100. Needless to say, I was displeased and questioned how they came up with this price. I played dumb to see how they would try to rip me off. I told them to just replace my coolant hose (as originally asked) so I could be on my way. They quoted me over $400 for THAT including over $40 for coolant....(which costs about $20 everywhere else). Then called me back telling me that they refused to fix my vehicle because they "couldn't make me happy". They left me no choice but to take my overheating vehicle elsewhere, instead of fixing what I came for, because they realized that I wasn't willing to be ripped off. Shop manager "Phil" approved of this. A few days later, I took my car elsewhere and had my hose replaced for under $150. Never again. read more

I had hit a pothole late at night and my BMW X5 had started to make crazy sounds right after. I had a long drive the next day so I needed my car repaired early in the morning. I called as soon as they opened and they were so helpful and told me to come bring my car in right away. Turns out my suspension was broken and they were quick to resolve the issue for me on such short notice. The service was handled so professionally! Everything went so smoothly even when I had told them I needed the car done by the same day. My car was serviced by James, he was super nice and helpful. He was very informative and even helped me fight my insurance which was a major plus! I was able to get to my destination the same day thank god a friend of mine recommended this place to me. Dude, 5 star all the way for M-Spec. One of the FEW TRUE Mechanic Shops of an extremely HIGH QUALITY that cannot be found anymore, anywhere. They do QUALITY WORK and so their labor rate is very fair imo. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd recommend them. Their biggest drawback is their customer service, especially Phill who is simply a rude employee. I went to them twice. The first time, my car got towed there and the job took 4 more days than expected. I can understand delays but what I didn't appreciate was their crazy lack of communication. At the end of each phone call, they promised to call back at a given time and would never ever do it. I was always the one reaching back only to learn that the deadline was being pushed back. It's during one of those phone conversations that I had the displeasure of talking to Phill. I called to ask if my car would be ready at the end of the day, as I was told before, and he pretty much told me: it'll be ready when it'll be ready. Also, the deadline being pushed back can be understandable but they did that 3 times to me. Anyway, in the end, when I got my car back, the job was well done. The second time I went back, I had them look into my AC. Same thing, they'll give me call at the end of the day or tomorrow. The next day at 5PM, I'm the one calling them back. Anyway, I get my car back, the AC is working and a few days later it stops working again. I call them to let them know that whatever is going on isn't fixed and, of course, I get Phill who couldn't seem to care less. I call to let him know the AC is still broken and he's like "okay. The problem must be this then ...". I'm the one who asked if I could bring it back to the shop for them to take another look at it. They charged me for an unfinished job and the guy doesn't care at all. Again, I get that mechanical issues can take a couple of tries to get fixed but I can't deal with this Phill guy who treats customers like they're a nuisance. Honestly, I don't understand why they keep the guy around. I can't be the only customer they lost because of him. read more

Recently took my E46 M3 here for some much needed "TLC" & M-Spec was the right choice. My car, unfortunately, had a laundry list of problems that needed attention. Fortunately, Zack who works the front desk assured me that all would be well. The technician, known as 'Renzo' was assigned to work on my car. Renzo was cautious & on point with all the work that needed to be done. We ran into some hiccups along the way but, Renzo was relentless to get to the bottom of setbacks & he did just that. From calling the shop to walking thru the doors, the team at M-Spec is fantastic, friendly, professional & keep it straight forward. The guys here are genuinely willing to help any way that they can. The pricing isn't too bad, quality & warrantied work guaranteed. Btw, the most significant issue was my vanos. These guys have been fixing my 2011 BMW 535i for the past 2 to 3 years ever since my warranty expired. Phil, Eddie and Zack are great people. They run an honest business and they don't just tell you what need, they show you pictures of your car and then ask you what you want to do. They have serviced everything on my car from the stuck steering wheel to the time I flooded my trunk with water destroying my battery wires. Who knew that the battery was under my trunk? A construction company hit my car while I was parked. Thank God they paid but who did I call? Phil and he got me to a great body shop guy. To put it simple, they have helped my car to survive me! Most recently my car stopped as I was pulling out of my garage and a message popped up that said drive train malfunction I was headed to Philadelphia I called and Zack said it wasn't safe to drive I brought it in and they replaced the coils and plugs. Next they will be fixing what Zack calls the trifecta of BMW oil leak repairs, changing the gaskets. Long story short, these are the experts, gurus, Buddha's of German cars.
