They have a large menu of beers, liquors, and cocktails, all very cheap, and they did not charge cover when we visited on a Thursday around 9:00 pm. The band was spectacular. They played a list of crowd pleasing covers and even took requests. Very fun place. We passed by late on a Saturday, and there was a huge line to get in, so we recommend coming during the early show on a weeknight - early for them is around 8-10 pm. Their website is great and lists the bands playing. I believe they have at least one if not two live acts every night of the week.

Most likely because it was an old church converted to a hall, but that definitely adds to it. The DJ played a lot of American music all types though, mostly top 40 and would put them to dance beats. So every second there's probably a cup being thrown near you, don't be alarmed but It was a little weird though lol.

I believe there is always a cover, but if you buy online it's a bit cheaper. There are two dance floors and one lower level with lockers/bathrooms. Lockers were a super convenient option for all of our coats/jackets. We started out on the first floor, but once it got crowded, we moved up to the second floor which was smaller, but less people. You can still see the DJ and first floor because it's kind of like a balcony set up. There's also a bar up here and a smoking room. I'd recommend coming here for a night out! but the crowd was a little younger.

And then of course a colleague suggested dinner. Dinner? I could barely remember my name, let alone the idea of polite conversation and small plates. I agreed anyway. Somehow, my feet wandered me through Leidseplein's cobbled arteries, those secret, narrow veins of old Amsterdam that pulse with smoke, music, and stories no one dares write down. At the end of one of them: The Chupitos Club. I stepped inside and thought I had stumbled into a fever dream: part Tiki bar, part neon speakeasy, part lost outpost of Trader Vic's, if Vic had moonlighted as a cyberpunk mixologist. Tiki skulls grinned beside robotic totems. A scent lingered in the air: smoky mango, lime, something herbal, something remembered. The menu was a printed passport to somewhere far from Holland. I ordered the Kraken's Breath. What came was less a drink than a rite. Rums, plural (of course), spicy mango syrup, jalapeño, lime. It was liquid memory. A sunburned dream. A blurry evening in Bora Bora, or maybe Belize. Somewhere I had never been but now missed deeply. The food came. Beef sliders. Karaage chicken. Salmon skewers. Mexican street corn. Sweet potato fries. Nothing matched and everything belonged. Like a band of misfits that somehow made perfect music. I asked our guide, Joshua, the server, prophet, and bearer of joy, who was behind all this. "Roberto," he said. "I design the cocktails, Roberto makes them." Of course he does. For the briefest moment, in the middle of a freezing Amsterdam night, I was barefoot in warm sand, somewhere far away. And then it was over. The dream closed. The hotel was quiet. The sleep was deep. But even now, I remember the breath of the Kraken. And I want it back.

Back area is the music area. Fairly small with lots of music posters and the like on the walls. Small bar area when you walk in and small stage at the back. Limited seating along the wall, but plan to stand if you want to see the band - lots of tall Dutchmen will block your view if you stay seated. You pay the cover to get to the back area. So feasibly you could stay up front and listen to the music first to see if you like it before paying the cover charge.
